Indoor Growing Scrog

Hey KR, any recommendations on old seeds? Had a few recently that cracked and showed a tiny bit of tap root and that was all.Tried planting but no luck.Same issue with different breeders using old seed.Soak for 24 hrs??? Scarify???
I wouldnt soak for that long, thats the max recommended time to soak. Id roll a tube of sandpaper and shake the seeds in the roll between your index finger and thumb for about 20seconds. Then soak them for 4-6hrs, in distilled water and place them in a wet paper towel in a old dvd case in a place where they will stay 75-80degrees f. Personally i use a small humidity dome with Riot Riot plugs as i have the best success. They hold the perfect amount of water without being too much just soak em and shake em gently to get out the excess. I also rip the plugs down the sides so i can check in their progression if necessary. . I also always add a pinch of GreatWhite mycos/beneficial bacteria. You can never colonize too early! If your temps are good and the seeds stay wet but not soaking you should get the best results. My first grow on AFN was from 15yr old seeds. If i ever do that again i will do exactly what i just explained. I have nearly 100% germ rates with fresh seeds. My biggest piece of advice if these seeds are meaningful would be to do them in small batches, so if anything goes wrong you dont kill the whole group.

Also, it could be that they just arent viable anymore. Old seeds temd to take a bit longer to get going from my experience, but if the seeds are cracking and popping tails then maybe its something during the transplant process, or too hot of soil, could be many different factors. Thats why i use the Root Riot Plugs, basically inert and organic and gives the seedling a little time to establish itself.

This is how I do it with every seed with great success very few if any duds. Sandpaper tube to scarify them lightly just a few shakes in the tube then dump into my starting solution with some kelp and humic soak 3-5 hours then directly plant with humidity dome they pop up in 3-5 days. I like to water my pots the day before planting unless I'm in solo cups then I just water and plant seeds then don't do anything for the first 5-7 days. The kelp and humic has natural growth hormones and other good stuff.

The key is 5:2 ratio I use greenleaf nutrients kelp .125 grams per gallon and bioag full power 1-2ml per gallon. When I fist started I did just like this video shows using RAW NPK product which work the same but makes nutrients much darker and tends to clog emitters then I got a bag of GL kelp which is super refined and clean and the same with BIOag full power just much easier on emitters less clogging

What King said. Great post, love the details.

... And speaking of sprouting seeds, this is definitely the way I will do it next time, just ordered cotton pads.
Mine probably didn't put out tap roots, although they opened a bit, because they were waaaay too wet ...
