Mephisto Genetics Froot's Mephisto - Basically Jurassic Park

Sounds good Froot! You can mix any nute lines together, it's basically all the same shit bro. I have mixed brands for years. NPK is the same, you just have to be careful to keep your nute ratios in check and not overdo it on any one thing.

You can see there is plenty of knowledge and opinions as well with what you could use. Smart things, is to document what you are using, so you can have some feedback as to what works. Most of us stoners forget exactly what we added and when,...although I can't remember why that is? :baked:

time to leave behind the beloved New Growers forum and explore new ground in the Mephisto lounge...nice to meechya :toke:

i'm no growing professional. just a guy in the UK, primarily growing meds for my missus whom suffers with several pain related illnesses. i also have a passion for stinky and tasty buds myself, so the goal is growing potent stuff that tastes and smells amazing, and so far, we are making some good progress. potency is already in a good spot - smells are incredible - now i just need to work on flavour :drool:

quick catch up on my previous Mephisto ladies from my first grow - i like stinky, so i couldn't resist the descriptions of both Sour Livers and Creme De La Chem, and no man alive could resist the allure of Double Grape from all those frosty pictures floating around the internet. here's some pictures of my first round;

Double Grape (i'll know if you laugh at her :finger:)

i harvested these ladies the first week of December ready for the holidays. they were all around 80 days old - the CDLC would have benefited with more cookin' time but jars needed fillin'. time actually flew a bit too quickly with all the fun i was having and i didn't flush these ladies, like at all. i think i even fed them the previous day - which is what i'm hoping is largely responsible for the the harshness that still lingers 7-8 weeks in to cure.

fast forward and here's roughly where i am today;

Ripley's OG and Stilton Special here at 5 weeks;

and today marks the first day for my Hubbabubbasmelloscope!

Currently growing in a cupboard - 130x60x200cm
Biobizz Lightmix - although the HBSS is the first candidate to begin a coco adventure - started her in lightmix, will transplant around day 10.
Cobs - DIY 3500k Citizen 1212's, 4 of 'em so 220W.
Advanced Nutrients - so far i have only used Sensi Bloom A&B, Voodoo Juice, Carboload, Big Bud, Overdrive and the latest addition, just some Flawless Finish. I use Density CalMag+ instead of the AN CalMag to cut down on N.

i'll be tagging in everyone who helped out in my first journal soon!
Those were some nice plants froot. Which was your favorite smoke?

bit of a premature update, not much has changed, besides my will to move Ripley's around the house - it's basically wrestling at this stage and i'm not sure i'll continue to win if i push my luck much more. keep smacking her head on door frames and getting arms caught up everywhere.

still, in just a few days you can see a difference, especially in Ripley.

Ripley's OG 47 days old, shaping up to be everything i thought she'd be :mrgreen: lemon and pine becoming very strong :weed: stacking buds like nothing in my cupboard before :jump: she's a good meter tall, and those branches are like arms.

Stilton Special 48 days - this little beauty stinks already, cheese and livers was always going to :hump:

this round i looked at better supplementing P & K at the start of flower - AN has Big Bud, but at 0-1-3 it's a little tame. I'm trying out introducing Overdrive alongside the Big Bud at lowered ratios to see what happens. last night was their second feed of 60/40 Big Bud to Overdrive at a little more than 1ml per L.

all the best AFN :smokeit:

your girls look stunning man. I didn't know you started your journal. Which 1 smells the best?

party on @trailanimal :thumbsup:
thank you very much for having a browse through my adventures
different styles and their results fascinate me too, and i plan to try my hand at many of them - any day i will be transplanted my first lady in to coco, and so begins more trials and tribulations...but as you say, they seem to be adaptable enough for my heavy handedness!
:pass:
:crying::crying::crying: an A for effort indeed!

Yeah, i mean, use what you have. There's obviously nothing wrong with AN, they just rub me the wrong way.

That said, Im gonna be running the full line on the next grow so I'm ready to change my opinion.

The only additive that i've seen make a really big difference aside from a straight PK booster is something called Sugar Peak flowering by Earth Juice. I've not really seen anyone else using it, but it's absolutely brilliant IMO. You can't really go overboard with it either. Seems to be hard to come by and not very popular but the guy in my local hydro store swears by it and I agree. Really excellent stuff, pretty cheap too. I think it's basically bat poop, fish bits and molasses. It's pretty pungent stuff and can give a rather unpleasant smell to the tent but the buds loooooove it.

i have a bunch of grumbles about AN stuff, especially surrounding the "PH Perfect" formula. lots of contradicting information between lovers and haters of their products - the grey areas of what you can mix with it, if you can adjust the PH of it, effect of tap water vs RO water, do the additives do anything at all seeing the results of base-only grows etc etc
and all that crap really makes me want to ditch it and pick up a new line altogether, or a mixture of different stuff.
but i'll be damned if i can complain about the quality of the end product in terms of trich and resin production as well as the terps - but i realise i only have grown with one product, but i have a lot of bud to compare that to from over the years and it stacks up with the best.
so for that reason i'm willing try and figure out how to get it working better for me :smokeit: - but if i run in to problems on the coco run from using it, i'll move on.

thank for the suggestion on the Sugar Peak, will investigate :bighug:

absolutely mate, still very much learning and very appreciative of any nuggets of information i stumble across...if i remember them :crying:
thanks very much

welcome Sleazy bro, these ladies just about to start plumping up!

favourite smoke from the first run was CDLC - dense, frosty and greasy buds, real hand grenades. real stinker!

both these ladies are putting out strong odours already and they're both very different - the Stilton really does smell lovely but the Ripley's has that OG thing coming through on top of the lemon and pine now, honestly a bit sickening already when i open up the cupboard and i love it :woohoo:

I've used AN base nutes for years and pretty much all of the additives on and off over that period. I think what happens is that we fall for the hype.. we start using a couple additives then start to think ''maybe if just used that as well.." looking for that 1 magic potion.. and before you know it your a big chunk of money down with 10/15 bottles to use when mixing feed!! Around 5/6 weeks ago I stopped using all AN additives as I have to simplify my schedule to try and suit multiple plants at different stages of growth.. I'm now using AN base nutes, Green Planet Massive, Canna Rhizotonic and plant magic calmag.. 4 items.. and it has made my life a lot easier and if anything I think that the Massive is doing a much better job than big bud, overdrive and the very expensive bud factor X pit together in terms of flowering.. I was also using b52, carboload, rhino skin, voodoo juice and a few more.. all of which have been dropped with no noticeable difference.

I think the AN hype/marketing machine does a masterful job of making us think that we NEED all the bells and whistles to grow good plants but that in reality those bells and whistles really don't add anything.. ive seen beautiful plants with frosty chunky buds grown with as little as biobizz fish mix and some bloom nutes so I have to conclude that the answer to growing nice healthy good yielding ladies does not come from an AN bottle contrary to their claims.

I'm glad I've moved away from the million additives I was using and tbh I don't think I'll ever go back to them now. If anyone wants to try one bottle for chunky frosty buds then Green Planet Massive is the way to go for me.. very cheap and makes a ''noticable" difference as far as I can see.. literraly!

Not sure where I'm going with this.. rambling somewhat lol just my 2 bobs worth about AN. Good luck all.

Interesting to hear how many additives you dropped without seeing much of a difference... Never heard of the Green Planet Massive before but will definitely check it out. Deeeeheeeecent price too!

Absolute bargain for what it does M8 and cheap enough to try without losing too much money if you decide it's not for you.. you wont hear anyone say that about ANs Bud Factor X to draw a comparison.. big bud not what I would call cheap either!! I'll post the additives I was using in a while when I refer to my old feed schedule but can tell you straight off the bat that pirhanna and tarantula were 2 that i dropped as well and again noticed no difference in the plants.. it's almost cheaper to buy gold than those 2 additives!! Scary prices.

Edit - this isn't an AN dis/rant by the way lol each to their own and maybe some can see noticable differences when using their additives.. I personally seen no difference dropping the additives other than I saved a big bit of cash and massively simplified my feed regime.

Update.. I was using pirhanna, tarantula, voodoo juice, rhino skin, b52, big bud, carboload, overdrive, bud factor x.. 9 different bottles some at big prices.. replaced by 2.. rhizotonic and Massive.

Didn't realise they made Terpinator as well. I'd been looking at that a while ago. Any experience with it?

@James0807 thanks a lot man, i appreciate you checking out my grow!

for fear of forgetting anybody i've put off tagging but here goes;

@Iriee Vibez @davisgirl @Slater @hope2grow @mcpd_refugee @wes @Giant Flying Wombat @trailanimal
and everyone who's already found me in my new pad - thank you all for your help over the past 6 months. i've had some awesome results on the back of the advice and encouragement from all you guys and it's made the journey in to this hobby all the more enjoyable.

here's to plenty more :cheers:
Looking forward to the ride[emoji106]

Here are the latest ones. They are the cdlc X ss freebies, 2 at the back. The two at the front are orange biscuits. They are on around day 36. I think they are going to end up really nice plants looking at the structure at this point.

Looking forward to what happens here, peace and growing karma to all[emoji120]

I have looked at the terpinator M8 yea.. no experience with it as yet but most likely gonna give it a go soon enough.. gets gr8 reviews. The Massive has made my buds chunkier stickier and frostier.. and it's a differened that I can actually see with my own eyes so can safely say it 'does what it says on the tin' for very little money really.. I picked up a litre for like £15 or somethin around that!!
