Mephisto Genetics Froot's Mephisto - Basically Jurassic Park

Looking great buddy, that frost is a good indication of things to come, and what a beeheeast! You can use Big Bud right the way through if you want. I'm not convinced it does an awful lot but I'm yet to run a side by side on it and it certainly can't hurt. I find it's impossible to really tell what anything that AN make is actually supposed to do as they seem to claim that every one of their products ensures pounds of bud, dinner with Jesus, communion with Buddha and eternal happiness as long as you keep buying their gear.
Who knows... their marketing does my head in but they clearly make a decent product or it wouldn't be so popular. I plan on running all AN next grow just to see what all the fuss is about. I do hope they prove my scepticism to be wrong!
They do also make some coco specific nutes which could be interesting, although I'm unsure why exactly they're better for coco... again, the information they provide is unclear to say the least.

Anyway, i don't wanna start bashing AN, there's enough people doing that. I've smoked a big ol' doob of 4AM and am going on a rant... All I meant to say is you can use Big Bid right the way through!

yes i take all the AN marketing with more than a pinch of salt for sure, but i can't lie, their nonsense does give me a chuckle and i give them an A for effort in terms of slaggin' the competition. only this morning i was reading all about how great their Sensi CalMag Xtra is over coffee.

couple of reasons i'm sticking with them (above the original purpose of being PH Perfect...), despite potentially better and cheaper options;
  • i've already bought a bunch of additives, and am maybe half way through them at most.
  • results so far - i'm still a noob but i've had some wonderful buds so far already and i thank a basic schedule of AN nutes and a lot of homework for it.

i bought the Coco Grow A&B and i'll probably end up getting the Bloom and Coco Big Bud too depending on how things go. i'd like to use up the Bloom i already have but it'll bug me there's a "better" or more suitable version available and i'll crack and buy it.

Chiming in again... Canna make a good PK additive, it's pretty cheap and will last for a long while. I've found that running it at 50% strength for a couple of weeks during early bloom does the trick and increases calyx production. It seems like autos are a little more sensitive to it and need less, from my limited photo experience but it's made a visible difference to the FxS.

i very nearly bought this, it's very cheap as you say, i'll grab a proper PK additive for the HBSS, either this, or i'll shell out more for the AN Hammerhead this round. thanks bro.

I know the coco version of the big bud has an added wetting agent for increased oxygen uptake and it looks totally different too. Normal big bud is brown, kind of smells like pine and looks like a normal liquid. The coco version is thick a white and clouds up on contact with water, seems to be a similar kind of substance to bloombastic.

I have tried nearly every AN product over the years (I even once bought all 5 of the rooting nutes :naughtystep:) I ran various combinations to try and find out what is actually working since they do so many different products and like you say mate they promise everything up to the second coming of Christ our lord and saviour :worship::crying: The only product I found that added anything substantial to my usual base regiment was the Big Bud.

For a cheap all in one booster plus PK I highly recommend Bloombastic @Froot n Fuel a small tub should not cost more than £15 and at 0.5ml a litre it stretches quite a way.

There is my 11.45pm high af input :pass::bighug:

i didn't know you were that in to bed with AN stuff mate!
i take it i should stop pondering the need of all that rooting line? they're all very nice looking bottles...:eyebrows:
love the smell of regular Big Bud, shame it's different for the Coco version.
i know you're in to Bloombastic and i can't argue with your plants mate so i may very well look in to that as well - surely would be okay to run with my other AN goodies? minus the Big Bud etc...

at 11:45pm i read this but was also high af and not capable of a decent response mate, thank you :bump:

Great stuff broski

Seems Ripley's is really branching out for you! Must be a struggle trying to confine that girl to her to the cupboard! it was with the larger girl for me, the amount of times even getting her out the tent to do a clean causes the occasional lingering smell around the room from when buds made contact

mate she is a pain in the ass to move around! i think she'll be a floppy girl once she starts packing weight on...i'm going to have to upgrade the space to a tent, no choice. pains me to see her leaves all squashed up and she'd fare nicely if i could spread her out more and get those arms tanning :biggrin:
just gotta decide on tent size - i think i can extend to something like 2m x 1m, which is super exciting.

I am coming up on 20 years experience so there ain't much that I ain't come across, I'd say organics, LED's and COB's are the things I don't know much on.
Yes I would suggest so, your wallet and the Mrs will surely thank you :biggrin:
Haha the reg Big Bud reminds me of ronseal wood varnish watered down :crying:

Yeah atami say you can mix it with any other nute lines and I myself have tried it with everything. I just find it really cheap in comparison to other big brand booster's and I get away with using very small amounts so I thought it would be perfect for your current situation if you don't want to splash out.

@James0807 thanks a lot man, i appreciate you checking out my grow!

for fear of forgetting anybody i've put off tagging but here goes;

@Iriee Vibez @davisgirl @Slater @hope2grow @mcpd_refugee @wes @Giant Flying Wombat @trailanimal
and everyone who's already found me in my new pad - thank you all for your help over the past 6 months. i've had some awesome results on the back of the advice and encouragement from all you guys and it's made the journey in to this hobby all the more enjoyable.

here's to plenty more :cheers:

time to leave behind the beloved New Growers forum and explore new ground in the Mephisto lounge...nice to meechya :toke:

i'm no growing professional. just a guy in the UK, primarily growing meds for my missus whom suffers with several pain related illnesses. i also have a passion for stinky and tasty buds myself, so the goal is growing potent stuff that tastes and smells amazing, and so far, we are making some good progress. potency is already in a good spot - smells are incredible - now i just need to work on flavour :drool:

quick catch up on my previous Mephisto ladies from my first grow - i like stinky, so i couldn't resist the descriptions of both Sour Livers and Creme De La Chem, and no man alive could resist the allure of Double Grape from all those frosty pictures floating around the internet. here's some pictures of my first round;

Double Grape (i'll know if you laugh at her :finger:)

i harvested these ladies the first week of December ready for the holidays. they were all around 80 days old - the CDLC would have benefited with more cookin' time but jars needed fillin'. time actually flew a bit too quickly with all the fun i was having and i didn't flush these ladies, like at all. i think i even fed them the previous day - which is what i'm hoping is largely responsible for the the harshness that still lingers 7-8 weeks in to cure.

fast forward and here's roughly where i am today;

Ripley's OG and Stilton Special here at 5 weeks;

and today marks the first day for my Hubbabubbasmelloscope!

Currently growing in a cupboard - 130x60x200cm
Biobizz Lightmix - although the HBSS is the first candidate to begin a coco adventure - started her in lightmix, will transplant around day 10.
Cobs - DIY 3500k Citizen 1212's, 4 of 'em so 220W.
Advanced Nutrients - so far i have only used Sensi Bloom A&B, Voodoo Juice, Carboload, Big Bud, Overdrive and the latest addition, just some Flawless Finish. I use Density CalMag+ instead of the AN CalMag to cut down on N.

i'll be tagging in everyone who helped out in my first journal soon!
awesome job on the those harvested beauties! Me rep stick at the ready!
I like your avatar FnF
party on Garth!

:crying::crying::crying: an A for effort indeed!

Yeah, i mean, use what you have. There's obviously nothing wrong with AN, they just rub me the wrong way.

That said, Im gonna be running the full line on the next grow so I'm ready to change my opinion.

The only additive that i've seen make a really big difference aside from a straight PK booster is something called Sugar Peak flowering by Earth Juice. I've not really seen anyone else using it, but it's absolutely brilliant IMO. You can't really go overboard with it either. Seems to be hard to come by and not very popular but the guy in my local hydro store swears by it and I agree. Really excellent stuff, pretty cheap too. I think it's basically bat poop, fish bits and molasses. It's pretty pungent stuff and can give a rather unpleasant smell to the tent but the buds loooooove it.
