Mephisto Genetics Froot's Mephisto - Basically Jurassic Park

Looking forward to the ride[emoji106]

Here are the latest ones. They are the cdlc X ss freebies, 2 at the back. The two at the front are orange biscuits. They are on around day 36. I think they are going to end up really nice plants looking at the structure at this point.

Looking forward to what happens here, peace and growing karma to all[emoji120]

Do you have something drip feeding to the top as well as the standard bottom fed autopot?

I've used AN base nutes for years and pretty much all of the additives on and off over that period. I think what happens is that we fall for the hype.. we start using a couple additives then start to think ''maybe if just used that as well.." looking for that 1 magic potion.. and before you know it your a big chunk of money down with 10/15 bottles to use when mixing feed!! Around 5/6 weeks ago I stopped using all AN additives as I have to simplify my schedule to try and suit multiple plants at different stages of growth.. I'm now using AN base nutes, Green Planet Massive, Canna Rhizotonic and plant magic calmag.. 4 items.. and it has made my life a lot easier and if anything I think that the Massive is doing a much better job than big bud, overdrive and the very expensive bud factor X pit together in terms of flowering.. I was also using b52, carboload, rhino skin, voodoo juice and a few more.. all of which have been dropped with no noticeable difference.

I think the AN hype/marketing machine does a masterful job of making us think that we NEED all the bells and whistles to grow good plants but that in reality those bells and whistles really don't add anything.. ive seen beautiful plants with frosty chunky buds grown with as little as biobizz fish mix and some bloom nutes so I have to conclude that the answer to growing nice healthy good yielding ladies does not come from an AN bottle contrary to their claims.

I'm glad I've moved away from the million additives I was using and tbh I don't think I'll ever go back to them now. If anyone wants to try one bottle for chunky frosty buds then Green Planet Massive is the way to go for me.. very cheap and makes a ''noticable" difference as far as I can see.. literraly!

Not sure where I'm going with this.. rambling somewhat lol just my 2 bobs worth about AN. Good luck all.

Absolute bargain for what it does M8 and cheap enough to try without losing too much money if you decide it's not for you.. you wont hear anyone say that about ANs Bud Factor X to draw a comparison.. big bud not what I would call cheap either!! I'll post the additives I was using in a while when I refer to my old feed schedule but can tell you straight off the bat that pirhanna and tarantula were 2 that i dropped as well and again noticed no difference in the plants.. it's almost cheaper to buy gold than those 2 additives!! Scary prices.

Edit - this isn't an AN dis/rant by the way lol each to their own and maybe some can see noticable differences when using their additives.. I personally seen no difference dropping the additives other than I saved a big bit of cash and massively simplified my feed regime.

Update.. I was using pirhanna, tarantula, voodoo juice, rhino skin, b52, big bud, carboload, overdrive, bud factor x.. 9 different bottles some at big prices.. replaced by 2.. rhizotonic and Massive.

appreciate the insight mate! :thanks:
i can see where you went wrong though mate, you're missing Bud Candy from the lineup to bump it up 10 additives - if you're not double figures in bottles you're doing it wrong bro.

and don't forget (i only found this one yesterday) that they do strain specific bloom boosters now - that's right! grab your very expensive "Kushy Kush" booster immediately

but yeh, it seems the additives give only a small boost if anything; my first grow was as basic as i dared to try, i think just Voodoo and Carboload plus Sensi Bloom A&B all the way through, and it produced some excellent flowers. then you start looking at the additives, hoping you'll get a small percentage increase in quality/yield with each bottle...and perhaps you do and perhaps you don't, but looks like most have become wise to it and gone elsewhere, besides maybe the base nutes, which are undeniably decent but maybe not any better than other base nutes

i think i'll refrain from picking up any more of the little white bottles. even Kushy Kush...

lovely set up mate, and those girls look lovely!
if you've never grown anything with CDLC in it then you'll be in for a real treat in my opinion.
i'm hoarding the last of mine like it's the Holy Grail.

I have looked at the terpinator M8 yea.. no experience with it as yet but most likely gonna give it a go soon enough.. gets gr8 reviews. The Massive has made my buds chunkier stickier and frostier.. and it's a differened that I can actually see with my own eyes so can safely say it 'does what it says on the tin' for very little money really.. I picked up a litre for like £15 or somethin around that!!

i nearly bought Terpinator before but i stumbled across a rather off putting review. not sure if anyone here is using it for autos or not to take a peek and ask what they think.
then i have to wonder if i really need to try and boost the terps of these ladies...they bloody stink anyway haha :pass:

HBSS Day 9
she's a slow starter versus what i'm used to but i'm doing things differently so i won't panic too much - to be fair i think i neglected to make sure she had a good view of the cobs to grow towards, and i raised her up higher a bit too late. She started in a 2L flower pot with my usual Biobizz Lightmix primed with some Dutch Pro goodies to keep her going and i have now transplanted her in to a 15L fabric pot (new to me) filled with probably 12L of Gold Label 60/40 coco/pebbles mix (also new to me) with a bit of lightmix to buffer between the mediums.
i would say the transplant was not the smoothest as the soil didn't want to bind together nicely for me so it all fell apart. Her roots only made it half way down the 2L pot anyway so i popped it in the new pot with hopefully minimal damage, but i'm certain the roots are a bit more...sideways...than intended. sealed the deal with about 750ml of >0.5ml Sensi Coco Grow (again, new!) and a splash of Voodoo Juice and Take Root. i wanted to get some Great White to add in there too to assist with the transplant but i'm a dedicated, full-time stoner so sometimes i don't execute plans to the dot.
any way she wasn't dead this morning so maybe we will be alright. i almost panic-dropped a White Stomper bean in case a replacement will be needed but managed to refrain. i think i'll soak one tonight anyway...there's no way i can fit it in the cupboard so it'll be the extra push i need to buy a tent.

hopefully now she's in a big pot she can spread herself around a bit better and make up for lost time :pighug:

also quick question guys - CalMag - under LED's, is it common to go way over the regular stated doses? I haven't needed to before, but these ladies (Ripley, Stilton) have been begging for the stuff since week 2. Ripley has some strong yellowing on her upper fans that i'm battling with increased CalMag and i've seen that some people are using a lot more than the usual 1ml Per L dosage - i'm at 2ml for Ripley and she still wants more, is that okay to keep upping? CalMag always strikes me as pretty harsh stuff so i always tread on the cautious side but given her size compared to what i'm used to i think it would be feasible to go 2.5ml/3ml per L with her?

:friday:

Hey brother,

I too feed manually for the first 21-28 days. Just before I turn the reservoir on I always ensure the while lot gets a soaking from the top.

Peace

Got it. Real nice set up you got there. I got a set of autopots, the fabric version, but I can't quite get to grips with it. Might come into it's own if I were to grow 4 of the same strain though. I do find they have a habit of leaking all over the tent though, not ideal with all the electrics in the room.

Yeah I've found unless you get them square super strong fabric pots like the Plant!t 11L square fabrics they have a tendency to run out of the sides unless you use a dibber to create feeding bores on the top layer of substrate and where you get the substrate coming away from the sides of the pots to stop it all just running down the sides.

Wouldn't even know how to stop it happening in a fabric autopot system unless you create like a spiral with a thin rounded chop stick heading in a slight diagonal position emanating from when the system feeds which I guess might work.

Either way I think a fabric autopot system sounds appealing in theory but it must be a bit of a pain! I'm glad I put off buying that as I cant deal with unnecessary mess

BTW @NiceOption and @Froot n Fuel I'm going to be starting to use some Coco in my substrate to allow for soil recycling but I'll also be watching you guys a little closer as I think I'll be doing an Auto AL-47 in coco to give me a little introduction to soilless growing so I'll be very much appreciating any extra experience :bighug:

So the system I have is a bottom fed one that's designed for use with fabric pots (they're bundled in with the system) in theory it's great but in practise it's a bit leaky. It might just be how i've set the tubing up, I'm not sure. The only reason i got it was to hook it up when i travel and cant tend to the plants, but i get really nervous about leaving it in case it floods, so it's been a bit of a waste of money really. I'm gonna give it another go by the look of it as i reckon the FxS I've got on the go will need another week and I'm travelling for 2 weeks. My friend is happy to come and help out a bit, but I can't ask him to come by every day, so assuming it works ok, it'll be a lifesaver. That, or i'll flood my whole house and blow the electrics...

Oh and I'd imagine that coming from soil there might be a little learning curve with coco but it's about as easy it gets. Just make sure you add enough cal mag and you'll be flyin'
