Well, they are alive lol. They are growing, still tiny things. Looking forward to the 6 grams I get off them lol

My pH meter arrived in the mail last week. I pH'ed my tap water that had been sitting out for a week or so. This is what I have been watering with. The pH was 8.5!!! Fresh out of the faucet my lovely tap water is a whopping 9.7 pH. I bought some distilled water from the store, and it has a pH of 7.2. I will be lowering it to the desired range, and watering either today or tomorrow. When watering I will test runoff to see what I am working with.

They have 4 sets of leaves now. I have added a 3rd CFL four days ago. They are liking it now.

Day 17 on the left. Day 22 on the right. Today is Day 24.

Any suggestions on what I should be doing now? Nutes? Another CFL?

If you want my honest thoughts I would be getting some back up seeds on because at this point they should be 5x the size rather than put all my eggs in one basket but they are greening up on the up side

Glad to hear you're still around!

Oh man, that sucks with your water! At least the distilled water is a little better. The distilled water that I get is pH 6.5. I only check it once; every time I open a new container. I guess you should check up on how to lower your distilled water pH (with pH +/- solutions, citric acid substances, baking soda...) to a level that will let your girls' roots open up to the nutes in your soil. Have you searched around for methods of lowering your pH?

I can't make any recommendations on nutes. I only use animal poops and plant based organic stuff, that really work good for me and my first ER. LOTS of info on that stuff all around as well, if it's the way you want to go. :smokebuds:

...what he said. I was too chicken to say it. :o

I'm with the others that now would be a good time to germ some new seeds. Those plants are so stunted that it seems like a waste of electricity to keep growing without adding some more (if you have room). With your pH problems resolved, the new plants will be bigger than these in a week or so. My tap water is full of chloramine and tests around 8.4 out of the faucet. I've been treating it with Amquel to remove all the ammonia and cholorine/chloramine and it seems to drop the pH closer to 7 after a day or two of bubbling. My latest grow is doing a lot better since I started the treatment. Distilled is a good option also, but over time you'll need to supplement with CalMag to make up for deficiencies in the water. But that's a task for another day once you test your runoff and get a full assessment of where you are. Hang in there, we'll do all we can to help get you a good harvest! :peace:

Looks like it's time to start over. I read your selection of soil is limited. I might suggest using the organic seed starter mixed with perlite for your soil next time. Sorry about your plants.

Well, I thought with high pH tap water that I had been feeding my runoff would be sky-high.

I just tested runoff. I watered with pH 6.7 water. Runoff was 5.9 and 5.6.

I was suprised it was so acidic. All that bark must be causing it. My pH meter is calibrated, and reads fine.

I do not have any room in a rubbermaid for other plants. Will think about junking them, sigh.

Thanks everyone! I check in a couple times a day to AFN. Enjoying everyone's journals!

I think you will be much happier if you just junk em and start a new grow. I'm sure your next one will have a much more smokeable outcome :smokebuds:. Now that you have a pH meter you can get started off on the right foot. Best of luck to you!

do not be down hearted you have learnt alot this time around.
measuring run off is not a exact science but 8.5 is to high you will find that potting mixes and nutrients have buffers that lower ph as well as the microlife and if your water was a point or so lower they might have been no issues.
If you have a safe window it they might be worth keeping

Thanks for all the encouragement guys! I have 3 more Onyx fem seeds, 1 fem Sour AK, and 1 fem Connie Chung. I think I will be trying the Onyx again. This time in correct soil with my Ph levels right! Will have to wait until next payday for soil.

I am still thinking about what to do with them. The only problem with adding more to the grow box would be......the stunted plants would be needing flowering bulbs when "Round Two" would be on vegging bulbs. Otherwise, it would be perfect.

~~AndyBotwin,

How is your grow tent working? That would have been cheaper than my Rubbermaid setup which was expensive. Can you use CFLs with it?
