i know this is an old log but when your hubby watered did he get water on the leaves?this will cause burning like marks from where the light is being magnifyed through water onto the leaves.

are you leaving em in a soaking paper towel?it should be moist but not soaking,this will just mush up your seed!

Just read through you thread, sorry to hear about all your germing probs you had, theres nothing worse than not even getting your seeds started, especially when you have to buy them!!. I got some advice this year which helped me as my seeds wouldnt germ. im not sure I read in your thread, it was to put seeds in as cup of water until they sink(24hours), then put in moist tissue.. It worked for me..

Glad to see you stuck by your little onyx.. 10g is better than no g!!
