Indoor Fanboy Grow #2

Thanks for the feedback on your equipment. I'll probably pick up the Cloudray when it's available. If it's not $100.

The alarm on the digiten, great to know. That's been my concern with my inkbird. It occasionally loses the sensor and alarms. I'll keep looking for one that cannot alarm. I'd rather have the environment off for a few hours than be caught by "concerned" neighbors.

Nosy neighborhood of retirees with nothing to do but "help". They've already been over for an inspection of my upstairs blurple lights. We start planting for spring indoors quite early. They really thought I was up to no good. Ugh, glad I've been super careful and paranoid since with my actual growing.

The look on their faces after the conversation at the door when I invited them in to see. Yeah tropical plants and hot peppers.

EDIT: I'm semi-retired so I'm often around enough to be a pain in their meddling.

I would add more soil to bring it close to the top of the plant, much easier that way.

Added more soil to bring the 3 stretched ones within an inch of the soil
Added approximately 8 worms to each grow bag.
The solo cup is a gift for a friend, Photo Reg of a WBG Grex from Mt Zion Seed co-op.

Day#4

Stretching has stopped and now seeing some growth in the good directions.
Dropping the light and cranking it up seemed to do the trick but now dealing with high heat again. Been trying to stay between 75-80 but it’s been a struggle. :baked: Humidity is also an issue since our heat pump has been running overtime during these deep freezes we have been getting:snow1:

First real water/feed day (not misting);
1 gallon RO/2.0ml GL
Watered each twice, 5 mins apart to give soil time to absorb water. They were dry as I expected with the new soil. I’m looking forward to getting on a solid schedule, which seems to work better for me.

Running the humidifier directly in front of the the tent bottom vent seems to work for now, keeps the room RH higher also.

Not sure my idea of running 2 tents off the same exhaust system is going to pan out. I’m going to be putting one of our portable air conditioners in the room as soon as all this snow melts and I can make it to our lake place to grab one.
More on that later.
Thanks for hanging with me in the grow room !!

Day #6
Things took a turn for the worse last night and I’m almost 100% positive I’ve lost WMN-A :help:
Sorry Jean-O !! You can barely see it there all laid over on the dirt

For some reason I watered them last night around 9:30 and it dropped fast overnight. Having watered them heavy Saturday I must have been delirious lol
Not only did it drop but the AH (My Grow-Off) also dropped tremendously :yoinks:

I’m almost 100% sure I was over watering again:naughtystep:

I have no idea why and no excuse for it. I just wasn’t paying attention to the soil. I stuck my soil probe in all of them and it’s reading wet+ at the bottom.
I’m hoping the AH can be saved but I dunno :(
The WMN-B

and the BBC are still looking good .
BBC is growing some more leaves and may turn out to be the nicest of all of them.
2AC4818B-6F9D-4305-BE72-621C42F3075D.jpeg

I turned off the humidifier, poked holes in the soil with a long pencil and turned a couple extra fans on in the room. House RH is 31% (deep freeze outside), I’m hoping they will dry out and at least be able to save the grow off girl.
Good, bad or ugly I’m gonna share it with y’all.
Thanks for hanging with me !!

Day#9
Quick update on the garden ,
The two sick girls ended up not making the cut and have been composted :)
There’s good news (I think anyways)
The two surviving Jean-O’s strains are looking really nice !!

BBC growth surprises me every day:growing:

I cleaned up the two pots on the right to get ready for some new roommates.
Added a portable AC to the room and it has really made a huge difference in the temp and humidity swings. Hopefully that will continue through spring!
Stay tuned and thanks for hanging with me on this crazy-fun journey !

Day #12
Weekend update on the WMN and the BBC.
They both seem to be going strong, compared to my last grow there is really no comparison in 12day growth. Couldn’t be happier, to be honest.
Wyze cam views for Fri-Today shows how much they have grown since the last update.
Fed/watered last night with a total of 1qt each over a period of about 1.5 hours. Was slowly letting it soak in.
I used a 2ml per gallon Gold Leaf mixture.
PH was 6.2
Avg RH 53%
Avg Temp 72.4f
Started using a garden sprayer with the long wand and it has made a huge difference in my back pain. Makes it much easier to get the mist perfect and also makes it easier for me to get it where I want it.

Added some more cover crop seeds to the areas that didn’t take from all that messing around early on.
Still haven’t decided what to do with the 2 empty grow bags yet .

Edit- I decided right after posting this :)

The Mendel grow off seeds were destroyed in shipping and since I’m having such good luck with these two Jean-O’s I think I’ll drop a couple more different Jean-O’s strains today before these get too far ahead. I’ll call this my Jean-O’s grow tent adventures :headbang: (See Above Edit)
Once I get a good cover-cover crop in, I’ll be mashing it down and adding sanitized/chopped straw as a mulch.
Setup a DWC bubbler project a couple days ago in one of the spare tents (32x32) been dialing it in, monitoring it for a few days now and making adjustments to see if I can handle it
Not sure how much you can see from the photos but the water temperature has been giving me issues.

Of course I have the ACI(2x2) just sitting there with a 7gal grow bag waiting on a new tenant too:drool:

Also a story for another grow journal experience:jointman:
As y’all can see I have plenty to keep me busy and I’m seriously having fun and just enjoying the ride and new experiences.
Hope everyone is staying warm and cozy, especially if you’re on the east coast. We’re getting pounded with ice/rain and snow. Heavy stuff still hasn’t hit !
Stay safe and thanks for following along.

Day #13
Just a quick photo update. Been misting the top of the soil with RO, PHd . Just enough to get the cover crop seeded in.

The BBC is really looking nice and bushy but hasn’t grown much upward, which makes me wonder if I should raise the light some ?

Can’t wait for the other two Jean-O’s to pop up :)

Have a great evening everyone.

Day #16
Just a few days since the last update. Been pretty much on the same schedule, misting the soil surface twice a day. Watering with RO water every 2nd or 3rd day and once a week feeding with Gold Leaf. Almost works out exactly to their feed schedule of every 3rd water.
Tuesday, day #14 I cranked the Marshydro FC-E4800 up to 50% and that appears to be just what they needed.
The BBC continues to mesmerize me every time I look at it

The WMN is really coming along for a no-soak, direct to soil germination.

Wyze view

I’m going to go ahead with the straw mulch today on the BBC and the WMN.
Today or tomorrow I will be adding a camera mount to the tent and play around with different placements. I kinda like the overhead view but I tend to knock it off every-time I’m in the tent messing around.
Since adding AC to the room, I’ve been having very little trouble maintaining temperature or humidity.
I’m starting to feel “dialed in” with this tent hope it’s not the calm before the storm

I’ve been thinking on the 2 plants that died early on and my thoughts are, they were both in the same soil setup as these two and they had the exact same amount of water, nutrients and light that these two had. The more I think on it the more I’m confused LOL. I’m not sure I was over watering them now, so who knows.
It will be interesting to see how these other two seeds perform in the same setup in the next week or so.
Thanks for hanging with me on this journey of growth.

Day #19
Girls seem to be doing very well. Not too much to report other than what appears to be good solid growth
Today was a feed day
Gold Leaf liquid nutrients/RO water
PH 6.1

I have noticed something during lights out which is pretty neat.
It seems the plants “go to sleep” during lights out and they lay their leaves down and just barely move with the cycling of the exhaust system through the night.

When the lights come back on in the morning they shoot right up LOL. They almost appear to be breathing :smokeit:
BC5C22AA-9258-4B35-8406-55D20D20A5E4.jpeg

I find myself mesmerized fast-scrolling through the overnight video playback feature of the camera lol.
Absolutely nothing showing from the other two seeds I dropped, I’m beginning to think those two right grow bags are cursed :coffee2:

Anyways thanks for hanging with me.
