I have a new addition to the grow in the form of poppies!! There will prolly be 60 to 100,but I'll narrow it down to 8 plants total, these usually take about 2.5-3 months to finish...View attachment 585615
Poppies? Hmm... sorry for the dumb quesiton - but this is for fun or food? We have a national dish where we sprinkle ground poppies mixed with powder sugar on pasta...and a LOT of poppies that is.
Like this, although I tend to put a whole lote more on it:
And we also have these - puppy roll:
Which looks like this cut up:
The brown ones are made of walnuts. Damn, now I'm hungry
Hi @fustipisti ,dang those look good! I grow them just for fun tho, have not made food from them but now that I see those pics ,watch out!! they do make a nice colored flower petal but they only bloom for about a week..they can be challenging to grow as well and the care is about 90% opposite of canna..there are some threads in our "pharmacy" section tho for different ideas...Peace
Not sure if you've seen the Seinfeld episode when Elaine fails her drug test cause of a few poppy seeds on her bagel. I've always wondered what those tests would've had during my childhood, as grandma would always have something with a bit poppy here and there, well, more than a bit Yeah, if you are brave enough to taste, the simplest food to make is the pasta. You just grind the seeds to a dust, mix it 50-50% with "good for your health" white powder sugar, and sprinkle on pasta. This is of course if you are into the poppy seed taste at all, many don't like it much.
I will try it,those pics look like some tasty treats!! I have heard the same thing about failing tests and believe that there can be false positives due to eating seeds, that'd be a bummer to get a false and not have any fun!!!
The top picture has more eye appeal IMO... I don't really know anything about BOM, though, or what that's judging. I keep meaning to check it out, but then I get high and distraction sets in...
