Harvest & Curing Drying in a brown bag

when you put them in the brown paper bags, Do you have to keep them in a dark place or will my shed with windows in be ok?

cheers

Cool and dark is best. The rays from the sun can decrease potency

I am in need of some help! I leave on vacation tomorrow and I am now been drying in paper bags for about 5 days. I want to throw all my nugs in my curing jar befor eI leave. Is it too soon to do so. I have no way to check the humidity and I will have no way to open the jar while I am away. What should I do? Any ideas are welcome as long as they work! :tiphat:

well i`ve seen people baging them from 4-6 days my time in here. all depends on humidity.

Let the stems guide you as to when they're ready to jar.

A bendy stem = no jar
a stem that just crunches with a light snap is ready :smokebuds: hope it helps bud :peace:

some are crunchy and others not....the problem is that I don't want then to be too dry. If i keep them in the bags for 2 and 1/2 weeks they will be all dry and harsh to smoke no? on the other hand, If I jar them, they might mold....could I jar them and just keep it open? Or is there still a risk of mold?

I have put them in jars at the stage your at, but you need to burp the jars regularly, like every hour minimum.... They will release more moisture when jarred....
If you jar them and leave them open you will still risk PM(powdery mildew)ive had that on bud that i left unopened for only 1 week and they where drier than what you have at present....
They really need a couple of days more drying before jarring, even then they still need the jars burping regularly..... Sorry bro all in know.....

let me get this right......

put them in brown paper bags with a fan blowing some fresh air around, then as they start to dry out the RH gets lower and around 50-55% RH they are ready to be put into jars?

Can I put the hygrometer into the brown paper bags to get a more accurate reading.

You want to leave the hygrometer out of the bag so you can get a reading o the humidity in the air not the bags. At 50% RH it would take 6 days to dry give or take a few hours. You don't want your buds to reach that humidity you want them right around 65%Rh when you put them into jars. Most people use the snap test, take a bud and try to break it if the stem snaps then its probably ready to start curing if the stem bends and doesn't snap it needs more time to dry in the bag
