LOL, they do start to look pretty ratty when the fan leaves are dying off. They feed off those leaves to put on that last burst of growth. I prefer to trim first before hanging. To me it's easier to take off the leaves then.

So I have come to find that my lady stashed my extra bag of Soil in the Garage under a tarp. Do you think I should use it and its safe or am I looking at something infested with bugs or what not?

Was the bag already opened? Even if it was, chances are it's fine. If it was open and outdoors that might be a different story.

Turns out it was fine. Was a bit worried becuase the bag is vented. Filled 7 pots today as I have germinated my next grow. Probably starrt another thread in a day or two. 4 of 5 RRF germed and all 3 Kush Van Stitch popped (c: Do you think I should keep my ladies in a 24 hour blackout prior to cutting? Speaking of that how would you recommend cutting them? Sawing at the base? Uproot? Going to go pick up a humidity meter. Can one expect the bud structure to tighten as the water is released?

I thought it would be. Most stores get things like that on pallets and they are often stored outdoors and it's not a problem.

Yes, I like the idea of a 24 - 36 hours blackout before cutting. I've got a Pakistani Ryder that will probably go dark either today or tomorrow in preparation for harvest. I usually cut the main stalk near the base, then snip off the branches, manicure and trim them, then hang to dry. Doesn't really make a difference but I think there is less mess doing it that way. When I'm done I then empty out the pots, checking them for salt buildup on the insides. Too much salt and I know I need to flush a bit more in the future.

If anything, I usually find the buds get a little looser as the moisture is removed and everything shrinks a bit from the lack of water.

Interesting stuff. Was considering letting mine go an extra week after viewing anohter thread were someone was letting his Purple Gems run to 90 days. I am at the 70 day marker today. Want to give my first grwo every chance to be some potent smoke. Let meshoot some pics and tell me if I have another week. Problem is I cut them to straight water for the last two weeks.

I would give them at least another week, if not two. There is still a lot of green in your fan leaves and the bud leaves haven't started to turn yet. As long as they are still green the plant still has energy to draw on to fatten up your buds.

Should I put them back on nutrients? A got quite a few leaves close to the bud that are dying to. Should I be plucking those off.
