I got a long way to go, but i think I am starting to get the hang of this. Thans for the words of encouragement. I am actually at week 8 instead of week 5. My next grow will have more space and better lighting.

Still if your plants are sativa-dominant phenos the flowering time might be bit longer than expected.. I think you'll be satisfied in the end. It will be worth the wait

Yeah I hope so. I am a bigtime Indica fan so I was surprised to have more Sativa Like buds. Must ba little bit of false advertising (haha). Somone told me that Durty Dragon was the hardest htting Indica/Auto. Any truth to that?

I don't have any experience with this variety but it sure looks frosty and very indica - 'Hash plant' is perhaps a good description from looking at the pics.. I believe it's a derivative from the ALF

So today I started the flushing process of my most mature plant. The plan if to give it PH's water only 2-3 times a week for the next two. Good info I have been sponging up in that Cupcake Snowryder thread. Curious to know what changs the Buds will go thru during the Dry/cure process. All brushed up on Thai Buddha guide. Pics forthcoming.

So as I near the 9 week marker the lady had an interesting question. What would happen if we plucked a choad from one of the ladies. How would it smoke if at all? Told her we would go thru the prcess of drying and curing. That maybe we ccould sample a nug after week one or so of cure as a tester. What do you guys think on this. Surely someone has done this b4. Curious as to what the result was.

Yeah you can do that. Actually I just did that for the last 2 weeks of my first grow. I clipped a bud every day, but they were all the smallest buds at the bottom of the plant. The longer you let it dry the higher you get and the longer the high lasts.
We smoked some after only drying for 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 days, just to get an idea and because we couldn't wait.
We noticed you do get high off fresh smoke, but it's no where near the effect of dried smoke and it also doesn't last no where near as long as dried smoke.
As the days progressed we could tell a difference from the day before. Wait 1 day for every 10% of humidity you have in drying room and then add one more day. Then you're smoke will (should) be dried properly and you should get the full effect from smoking.
I'm not sure if curing has anything to do with potency. I think curing is for taste and smoothness, but I could be wrong, so if I am someone let me know.

I pinch small buds to sample all the time, especially if it's my first time growing a particular strain. I do it so I can see where the high is and get a feel for when I want to harvest. After about 3 days they are usually dry enough to smoke in a pipe or bong. Curing does have an effect on the high, more so with some strains than others. To really bring out the taste, smell and high, a good cure takes about 3 months.
