If yes, how long & how dry? (eg wilty leaves dry?) NA

Free Reign: Is there anything different that you personally do at this time? No

1) Do you cut after dark phase & while still dark? No, I cut when there is a window of opportunity. I have 3 kids, a demanding boss, and even more demanding Mrs  When ever they are ready, and I get the chance, they come down

2) Though possibly mentioned in previous answer, do you purposely allow your plant to dry out before cutting. No, just plain water the day before chop

Free Reign: Is there anything different that you personally do at this time?

I give a shot of plain water the day before, and remove all the fan leaves, chop the next day. Sometimes I will wet trim the buds, break them up into nugs, into paper bags, and dry that way. Other times, depending on time, I'll hang each branch untrimmed, until dry, then dry trim over a '00' screen. Then into some jars with 58, I prefer the slighty dryer RH for smoking buds, and after talking to one of your reps at Northgrow in Copenhagen, he suggested the 58's instead of the 62's

Step Two: Lights Out~ Thristy Plant?

As some may know, it's common practice to make the cut at first light. The theory here is that transpiration--water rising from roots to leaves--slows at night. Cutting in the dark or at very first light aids in drying and some say lessens harshness. Other growers even push the boundaries more by keeping the plant in darkness for longer than their normal 12 hour lights-out phase.

Week 2 Boveda Questionnaire

1) Do you cut after dark phase & while still dark?
>i have in the past. But recently no.

If so, how many hours darkness & why?
>Normally 2 to 3 days.
If no, why not?
>security reasons. Prohibition state.
Stinkier strains. and on the perpetual ive been taking small amounts over days instead of all at once.

2) Though possibly mentioned in previous answer, do you purposely allow your plant to dry out before cutting.
>again, sometimes. If i plan to take in in one or 2 sittings yes.

If yes, how long & how dry? (eg wilty leaves dry?)
>when yes, from 3 days to a week or a dead plant. (im chopping it anyways)

Free Reign: Is there anything different that you personally do at this time?
Not really. Just that i do like taking an hours trim at a time instead of whole plants when theyre big. And the later ones get that stress response.

Week 2 Boveda Questionnaire

1) Do you cut after dark phase & while still dark?
No
If so, how many hours darkness & why?
If no, why not?

Too Lazy, I don't have a set time. Whenever the shears are clean and sharp I harvest.

2) Though possibly mentioned in previous answer, do you purposely allow your plant to dry out before cutting.

No.
If yes, how long & how dry? (eg wilty leaves dry?)

Free Reign: Is there anything different that you personally do at this time?

It is so dry here most of the year I often need to leave all leaves on the branches so it does not dry too fast. I also run a humidifier. My harvest is usually too big to use the paper bag method.

WOW. I can almost smell that from here!!!! Now that's a harvest :)

I just watched your video. I think I'll try making some rosin bars next week. How much do you think the heat from the plates decarbs the bud in the wafer?

None perceptible, I press at 210°F for 2 minutes which is not hot enough. I decarb on a hot plate @ 252°F for 27 minutes. I use a small borosilicate beaker and match the rosin weight with cocoa butter.

Week 2 Boveda Questionnaire

1) Do you cut after dark phase & while still dark?

Used to throw them in dark, but not now

If so, how many hours darkness & why?
If no, why not?

Someone asked me what good are immature trichomes, scratched my head and thought good point.

2) Though possibly mentioned in previous answer, do you purposely allow your plant to dry out before cutting.

Yes last plant and it tasted amazing.

If yes, how long & how dry? (eg wilty leaves dry?)

Just a week with no water and closest to heater. Promotes the amber trichomes IMO.

Free Reign: Is there anything different that you personally do at this time?

Drool alot and keep checking trichomes!

Hope that answers you're question alright. Thanks again @Boveda

3) Do you use a fan?

4) Do you dry for a set number of days?

5) How do know when your plant is dry?

Free Reign: Is there anything that you do differently?

Step 3: The Cut Day
You have cut your plant. Now what?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week 3 Boveda Questionnaire

1) Do you trim? If yes ... how much?

Yes, I trim everything that doesn’t have trichomes.

2) When drying, do you do anything to aid in regulating the humidity in the ambient air surrounding your plants? ( this would slow down the drying time)

Yes, I run a humidifier set at 55%.

3) Do you use a fan?

Yes

4) Do you dry for a set number of days?

No.

5) How do know when your plant is dry?

When the stem snaps.

Free Reign: Is there anything that you do differently?

I like to dry the bud on a hanging drying rack but it seems to dry out a bit too fast. My bovedas saved the day. :toke: Next time I’m going to try drying in heavy paper bags and see how that goes.
