Boveda Wants to Hear From YOU!

Week 3 Boveda Questionnaire

1) Do you trim? If yes ... how much?
I like to wet trim, and I spend a lot of time getting as close as possible so when my buds are dried they look really trim and neat.

2) When drying, do you do anything to aid in regulating the humidity in the ambient air surrounding your plants? ( this would slow down the drying time)
I use an ultrasonic humidifier set to 50% humidity.

3) Do you use a fan?
Yes, a small fan set on low and producing indirect airflow.

4) Do you dry for a set number of days?
No. I aim for 5-7 days, though.

5) How do know when your plant is dry?
I'm still figuring that out...

Free Reign: Is there anything that you do differently?
Nope!

Week 3 Boveda Questionnaire

1) Do you trim? If yes ... how much?
Yes fan leaves

2) When drying, do you do anything to aid in regulating the humidity in the ambient air surrounding your plants? ( this would slow down the drying time)
I dry in a dark shed with paper over windows. Pull fan leaves keep but keep stem on them to hang and slow the drying down

3) Do you use a fan?
Yes but only closed circulation.

4) Do you dry for a set number of days?
No

5) How do know when your plant is dry?
When the stalk bendy but still breaks its ready for the jar.

Free Reign: Is there anything that you do differently?
Make sure the wife don't catch me lol

Step 4: The Cure

What do you cure in? Examples: Mason jar? Cvault? Paper bag?

Do you burp? If so, how often?

Do you use humidity control packs for your cure?

There are many ways to use these packs, how do you use them?
eg: Cure without for 2 weeks then add or Cure with from start to finish?

How long do you cure?

Do you sample or are you patient? :) tell the truth!!! haha

As ever ... thanks for your feedback!

I cut down plant & put it in brown paper bags for about 5 to 10 days until I think it is dry to touch then store in mason jars & burp 2 times a day for about 3 weeks.

I do not use humidity packs but would like to sample some.

Of course I sample it.

With each harvest I hope to have enough bud to experiment on best ways to dry & cure.

Thank you for letting me participate!

Paper bag 5-7 days
Have not used your packs yet BECAUSE YOU DONT SHIP THEM GLOBALLY!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!! !!! !! ! !
Then they go to mason jars. Burped everyday for first 7 days for 10-20 mins.
then once a week.
Depending on how much other product I have around decides whether I sample or not.Or if its a new product, then curiosity gets the better of me! :)
Hope this helps.

Week 4 Boveda Questionnaire
Step 4: The Cure

What do you cure in? Examples: Mason jar? Cvault? Paper bag?
Mason Jars

Do you burp? If so, how often?
Every day first two weeks, then 3 - 4 days next couple of weeks then monthly or less.

Do you use humidity control packs for your cure?
Yes.

There are many ways to use these packs, how do you use them?
eg: Cure without for 2 weeks then add or Cure with from start to finish?
Depends on bud moisture 58% - 62% nothing first two weeks, <58% I use 62s. Then after first 2 weeks they all get 62s

How long do you cure?
Two weeks minimum. I have bud a year old. But I think it is at its peak around 4 months.

Do you sample or are you patient? :) tell the truth!!! haha

Yes.
Free Reign: Is there anything you do during curing that is unique?

If unique up on it; it wont have time to cure.

1. What do you cure in?
As i dry for a few days in a paper bag i then go to mason jars with a 62 for the cure. I also have taken to turning the jar's inner lid upside down so it doesnt totally seal for the first weekish inbetween burpings.

2. Do you use humidity control packs for your cure?
YES. 62 in the jars.

3. There are many ways to use these packs, how do you use them?
eg: Cure without for 2 weeks then add or Cure with from start to finish?
I cure with from day 1 in the jar with a 62 until i smoke it. Though if i had 58s id stick them in the jars that get stored for longer term.

4. How long do you cure?
I wait until humidity has stabilized and then ideally 2 weeks minimum. But ive had stuff recently going a month or 2.

5. Do you sample or are you patient? :) tell the truth!!! haha
YES!! Why lie? We all do it!! I just wait until the humidity stabilizes at 62 before i sample. It by then has STARTED to get rid of the green.

6. Free Reign: Is there anything you do during curing that is unique?
YES!! I have taken to turning the jar's inner lid upside down so it doesnt totally seal for the first weekish inbetween burpings. I say week ish but its basically until it stabilizes at 62 or i find the jar at 60/61.
This is because im not home enough or regularly enough to burp every 4/6/8 hours in the beginning. So i burp when i can 2 x a day for longer and just leave the lid on loose and flipped so it can breathe. I also leave the jar laying down. It lets more surface area for the new air in the jar and i dont get the dry nugs in the top with wet in the bottom.

Week 4 Boveda Questionnaire
Step 4: The Cure

What do you cure in? Examples: Mason jar? Cvault? Paper bag? Paper bag tell the stem bends but not break. Then into mason jars with 62% pack

Do you burp? If so, how often? Oh yeah every morning and evening.

Do you use humidity control packs for your cure? I do starting a week after they have been put into jars.

There are many ways to use these packs, how do you use them?
eg: Cure without for 2 weeks then add or Cure with from start to finish? Sure do. First week in jars no pack second week add pack

How long do you cure? At least 2 weeks.

Do you sample or are you patient? :) tell the truth!!! haha Hell yes i sample, i didn't grow it to just look at lol

Free Reign: Is there anything you do during curing that is unique? Um... keep it dark and cool for as long as i can, try to keep environment consistent

Step 4: The Cure

What do you cure in? Mason jars

Do you burp? If so, how often? I don't burp per se, I jar up with a hygrometer in the jar. If after 4 hours the RH is 66+, then I burp once, letting the jar stand open for 1-2 hrs. If still over 65%, I dump the jar out onto a baking sheet and let it dry till it feels less moist,4-8 hrs. Then I check again in 24hrs. This is my preferred method, I like the bud to be dry on the outside when I jar it, but still some internal moister, I don't wait till the stems snap, I want them bendy. RH often goes up to 80% or more, that's ok. I think drawing the moister out slowly helps retain the terpenes. With this method I sometimes have to remove them twice to get to 62-65% RH. At this point I add my Bovedas to my jars.

Do you use humidity control packs for your cure?yes

There are many ways to use these packs, how do you use them? I use 2-3 of the small ( 8gram? ) per jar. One in the bottom and 2 fitted in the sides near the top. I do this as soon as the RH is to my liking.

I use them also to rehydrate if I let the bud get too dry.

How long do you cure? I cure now for 2 months if supply allows. I use to do three months, but shortening the cure time greatly increases shelf life. Usually, one jar only get a week or two

Do you sample or are you patient? If I have enough bud to keep me going it all gets cured. Except for the bud or two I snip off near the end of the grow lol!

Free Reign: Is there anything you do during curing that is unique?

No that's about it. I want to get vacuum lids for my jars. Let them cure 2 months and then seal them.
