Hey Breeders and wannabreeders


The gentlemen inside the tent are growing like hell and both are definitly showing some interesting features. But the right one is showing some exceptional signs of hybrid vigor and vertical growth looks an easy task for him. This one is just miles ahead on the left, so I'll probably choose it for collecting the pollen.
On the other hand. The left one is more compact then the other and a bit slower...Difficult decision. @Sawney_bean, what are the things that tickle your interest in these guys?

Next up are the ladies inside the greenhouse. These Mephisto crosses are all showing hybrid vigor and are growing like a mf'r
Have a look for yourselves...First off, Double Grape x Toof Decay. One stretchy girl with enormous leaves. Compared to some other girls, her internodal space is the largest.

Still, she's showing sex and is eager to please

Next up, Mephisto Wedding x Coal Miners Daughter...Mhmmm, wonderful looking plant. She did stretch a lot since she moved from the tent to the greenhouse, so I'm glad she's inside her 7 gallon pot and she can stretch both above and below the soil

I didn't have a visit yesterday, but the day before these pistils weren't there as I checked every plant inside the greenhouse... So that's an amazing amount of flowers in a day...

Finally an original, Mephisto Wedding. A very compact plant, actually it's two plants side by side in the same 10 gallon pot. But still very compact and very short internodal space. I like these short and stout plants a lot. They are perfect for low tents like mine. Where headspace is in high demand...

Just like with my DP girls this one is about to burst into flower...and she's screaming FLOWERS!!!

Super healthy girls!! Tomorrow they'll receive their BioTabs and tonight...tonight it's it was (*) time, for me to have a after-dark visit and apply some Boom Boom Spray to all these girls so they get a kick in the butt and start running

(*) I was still downloading the pictures for the time lapse, so I went to to apply the Boom Boom Spray inside the greenhouse.

Hey Breeders
Let's begin with the plants inside the greenhouse...Well, these ladies are growing at an enormous pace.

The Double Grape x Toof Decay is starting to go into flower.

She's on par with the Dutch Passion girls who are growing mere meters from her.

The furthest of all the plants is the Mephisto Wedding x Coal Miner's Daughter and looking at the male inside the tent this is one of the earliest flowering cultivars I've grown so far...Could this be due to the fact that this is offspring from a "regular" mating? Or is it just that one of the two parents is just freaking early?

Curious what the haul from this one will be...Hybrid vigor suggests a healthy plant, but if she will produce something noteworthy is to be seen.

But it sure looks promissing

Finally we have the Mephisto Wedding sisters inside the big pot. Both ladies look very similar, but the closest to the camera is a bit ahead on the one behind her. I'm definitely going to pollinate a branch of this one to make a back cross with the Wedding x CMD.

Superhealthy plants...Look at them colors.

The hind one...Very similar, but a bit less bulky.

We also have the ladies in waiting. I've moved the tray as these plants were clearly visible through the window when standing on the table...Oops...

The other Double Grape x Toof Decay. When inside the tent this was the prettiest of the two. I selected her solely for seed making and compared to her sister in the larger pot, she's quite ahead on her to. The other one will be used for smoking

The Wedding x CMD is just like her larger sister the furthest of all the plants. Flowers everywhere and she's not done by a long shot!!

Finally a pot with two sisters which actually should have been planted in a big pot, but somehow I missed it... Oh well, at least make some seeds and have enough for a couple of joints to see what I have to work with.

Inside the tent this male cycle is coming to an end. As soon as the pollen is spilt he will become chicken food or compost, but this stud will have loads of offspring. So his genetic makeup will continue further.

I'm touching nothing and leaving this premature, ahum, pollen alone.

The stamina around the spilt pollen is clearly getting ready to open up.

I completely agree. The Double Grape is something special.
Guess, that's why it's been used so much in creating new hybrids. The amount of trichomes it produces is just sick

Let's begin with our pollen donor

As you can see, over the last couple of days he's been opening up his flowers and dumping a sh!tload of pollen inside the aluminum cup I've molded around the stem.

There's still enough flowers that haven't opened up, so I'm going to let it run for a couple more days. Then it's harvesting time and I'll show you guys how much pollen I was able to collect

Next, we move ourselves to the greenhouse...
The first lady we are looking at is the Double Grape x Toof Decay.

At 36 days old she is sliding into flowering and producing some nice short pistils.

Next up, the Mephisto Wedding x Coal Miner's Daughter. This one is the furthest of all the plants.

And she's nicely on her way to produce one massive cola. The first frost is also appearing...Oh, heavenly times ahead my friends. I'll be pollinating her sister inside the 3.5L pot, which has the same amount of pistils and frost...

Lastly we have the Mephisto Wedding twins inside the big pot. Together they look kinda bushy, but if you look at each plant separately you can see that the front one doesn't have many extending side shoots. She wants to become a SOG girl... I'm definitely pollinating one branch from this first one...She's got potential

I'd prefer the first one to continue with. Both will probably give me some nice smoke, but the first one is the girl to pollinate.

Hey growers

Day 41 inside the greenhouse and these ladies are loving their big pot. I still prefer the front one as it looks more ready then her hind sister.

Look at that pistil factory...Even the first frost is noticeable

Next up the Wedding x CMD and this one really is flowering like there's no tomorrow.

Yup, one big cola in the making

The Double Grape x Toof Decay is starting to look very Sativa and is looking very hungry. Tomorrow I'll be dividing another 10L water with Bactrex between the plants.

She's gonna make satellite buds all over the plant...Maybe a largish main cola

Hey breeders and wannabreeders


After a week of drying inside my study, I decided the packet with the flowers was good to carefully be pulled apart and slowly but carefully, extract all the collected pollen from it...And there was loads of pollen in there. So glad with this little harvest, which almost took me an hour start to finish.

I spread out some printer paper and carefully tapped the aluminum foil so the pollen would drop. To hard a tap and the pollen took to the air
Afterwards I removed both the spent and unripe flowers and carefully transferred the pollen into the small vial.
This is about a hundred times more pollen then I had before, so I'm really glad I started to play with regular auto seeds.

Next on the list will be to polinate the ladies in waiting. Oh and let's not forget a branch on that front Mephisto Wedding. Doing an actual Bx with the aid of the Mephisto Wedding x CMD pollen will give me something nice to play with in the colder months. Might even do a SOG to see what differences show up.
Not wanting to call it a pheno hunt as sixteen plants can barely be called a pheno hunt, but you know what I mean, right?

Question for the more advanced breeders...should I add oven baked flour to the pollen, don't really need to, as I most likely have more then enough pollen to sex up an entire field. But rather to help in preserving it for storage inside the freezer. Or is it better to leave it alone. It is very dry as humidity is at an all time low of 25% because of the hot weather. And the small vial has a small plastic cap plugged in the opening before the black cap went on it.
The plan is to keep the leftover pollen inside the vial in a metal thermos flask. You never know if for one reason or another I have need for this pollen again...in the future and I would like it to keep for as long as posible.

Hey you guys


We've had a partially cloudy day today and the plants got a needed break from the continuous bombardment of sunshine.
Still temperatures got up to 36°C inside...Good for the PK Booster Compost tea, but the plants prefer a more moderate 26-28°C...Especially when your receding inside a 3.5L pot...

One of those is this lady in waiting...The Double Grape x Toof Decay. Looking nice and frosty already. Wondering how long to wait to uptimally pollinate her. I'm going to do a double pollination with a two day pauze inbetween, just like @Sawney_bean advises. Just to optimze the amount of seed setting.

Next up we have the Mephisto's Wedding x Coal Miner's Daughter. This one is one hell of a grower!! Healthy looking leaves and a bit of Nitrogen hungry, but I've remediated that by mixing in some Silicium Flash in the water I fill the tray with. Tomorrow they will also receive a healthy dose of the tea. So tonight, I just gave them some water

She's full with pistils everywhere you look. And you wait until I show off her big sister...Wawawie...

Last lady in waiting is the Mephisto's Wedding x Forum Stomper. I truly forgot to select the best of the two and transplant it into a bigger pot.

A real shame as she's producing copious amounts of trichomes and looking at it, rockhard buds. Stil going to pollinate the large one and keep the small one to have something to test out.

Those where the ladies inside the small 3.5L pots. We now move on to the one's that got selected for transfer into the bigger 7 and 10 gallon pots.


First off, the Double Grape x Toof Decay. This lady isn't looking bad, but I expected her to fill out more. Instead she's behaving like a spoiled cheerleader who doesn't want to eat because it's making her look fat. No, this has more to do with the amount Sativa in her blood then anything else. A typical Sativa trade...Large internodal distancing, Long slender leaves and pockets of bud sites.

She is full on into flowering and anyone may know about it. Pumping out pistils like crazy!!

Next up we have a monstrous cola in the making. This Mephisto's Wedding x CMD cross is really kicking some ass!!
What do you think @Sawney_bean? In a smaller setting this could be an amazing SOG cultivar, no?

And the calyx's haven't even swollen up yet!! Lol, this will be something to look out for...Let's keep our the humidity will stay as low as it's been the last few weeks. But, have a feeling I've got it under control with the automated waterings. This way, fewer water will be spilled onto the floor, which doesn't have to evaporate and raise the humidity...Action and consequence

The amount of frost on this girl is just....Mhmmm....

And finally we have our two Mephisto's Wedding sisters. The first one is definitely a class-A specimen, but her sister is kinda mediocre. I'm even pondering to cull her. The only reason I'm thinking otherwise is...maybe she'll produce something special after all...Which I've been reading about, but I don't know if I want to give this one 100+ days to get there...Really want to finish by the end of July so I can go on holiday without having to look over my shoulder the whole time...

But this first lady though...O boy, have a look at the amount of frost she is showing!!

Today I decided to do a first pollination run.
I first closed both windows so there wouldn't be any draft. Then placed the tray with the ladies in waiting as far as I could from the rest, which was by the door...
When I was settled, I carefully dumped a tiny bit of pollen on a piece of paper and then with the aid of a stiff children's paintbrush picked it up and transferred it to the bud sites by flicking the brush. This created a small cloud which settled over the buds.

While writing this post I came to the conclusion that I forgot to pollinate the Mephisto's Wedding, so after writing this I'll go and do that right away
Speaking of which...The front lady is surely something special...Have a look at her.

She surely is a leafy girl, but have a look at that amount of frost!! And this is a bud from the lower parts...

One of these lowers will get a hefty dose of pollen

Well, you could pollinate it and let it grow anyway. No telling what different cannabinoid/terpene profiles could related to the traits you're seeing, or how it will combine with the genetics from the donor. Even if the progeny from the weaker pheno aren't great, the difference between the offspring of the two mother plants could be informative.
Not speaking from experience, but just what my thinking would be in that position.

grow her out, and chuck some pollen at her, what if she is tastier? My initial thought is to backcross onto original work as many times over as possible as then I pick up more of what the other breeder might have seen

I know you guys! What if this cross is thé one...
I made some calculations and I have the feelin' some of them won't be ready before my holiday...So I've come to a conclusion, and that is...I'll keep her and keep her connected to the automated watering system. It's a risk, what if something happens, but it's one I have to take. Don't want to end up with jittery weed as this is no good for my ticker...
The front Mephisto's Wedding will probably be ready, just before I leave of just after. I'm guessing 70-75 days, which would mean about 3 weeks to go for this one...

That pic with the brush… my mind was like ”Maybe its Maybeline” cause you certainly have some lookers. Covergirls in the making for sure.

Anyway, these Dutch Passion genetics never seem to disappoint me...Every year I've grown multiple cultivars out of their catalogue and they are always fire.

On with the show...Let's begin with our New Man's cross...Mephisto's Wedding x Coal Miner's Daugher...Oh yummie....This girl will not be there to show us out when we leave on holiday. She's not ready yet, but will most likely be the first to come down...Never had a cultivar cost me so little time from start to finish, but this one is doing it none the less

I've been reading up on the whole Gnome Genetics (used to be Mandalorian Genetics). This guy has some history with this forum and it's old guard. Always have been interested in the Anvil from this line, but for one reason or another always fished behind the net on that one.
Now I can play with it's cousin and boy, what a combination of old school cultivars have been inserted into this cultivar!!

Also, this one is a freakin' fast cultivar...Being only fifty days old she's nearing the finishline first or second...We'll have to see the photofinish

Following right behind her is the front Mephisto Wedding sister. This one is very heavy on the trichomes and this from early on!
Her hind sister is most likely a +100 days pheno of the cultivar. Maybe @stan_mephisto can bless us with his immense knowledge and tell something more?

I can only dream about all that grease that will ooze out of my rosin press when this one is finished...
