Thanks for the comments, reps, and compliments folks!
Vas, I am able to dry in a controlled environment.
But even if I wasn't, I would probably use some variation of this type of drying method.
There are many little purely idiocentric reasons behind it.
But the main reason is I feel like I get a better flavored, better smoking product, using this method.
I chop the plant and hang it at a height that is comfortable for me to work at and trim the fan leaves (usually over a few days)
By this time, the smaller fan leaves that are left and sugar leaves that were still green, usually begin to wrap themselves around the bud.
In my conditions indoors, my buds are usually "dry" at 60-65% in 5-6 days.
But I cannot remove all the buds that fast on large plants, so usually around day 5-6, I cut all the branches away from the main stalk and put those in rubbermaid bins with a hygrometer.
Those bins are for all practical purposes, my temporary jars.
Then I complete the debranching as they cure.
I have found I get a much richer smell and flavor doing it this way AND the few people that I share with prefer my "sloppy" hand trimmed buds over the over manicured trichome abused mechanically trimmed buds.
I think those small fan leaves and sugar leaves impart some terpenes or resins that help potentiate the bud, even if not smoked themselves.
This for smoking or vaping material.
If I was growing to produce concentrates, I am not sure I would do it the same or not.
I will throw another plug out there for the guess the weight contest on this one.
Check the Shortstuff website or their facebook site. I am sure they will be posting it up soon.
