Dutch Passion Auto Glueberry OG: 1000W HID RDWC Hydroponics

Hey AFN,

It's been a few days and some changes are occurring, so I thought I'd let you all in on how my girl is doing. She's been defoliated at the bottom of the plant to increase bud production on the main colas (hopefully a smart move. Wish I could grow one untouched and see which ends better) and increase airflow. It looks like we are definitely ending the transition period and heading into the flowering stage. She was just fed her last round of grow nutes.

** Ionic Bloom and Ionic PK Boost will be fed with the next nute change after a heavy flush for a few hours with pure, filtered tap water and Drip Clean.**

** A quick shout-out to anyone who is familiar with legal growing options in Oregon. It appears that a growing license costs about $2,000 + any misc. expenses for water permits and such. I currently don't own the land to begin a grow, but I thought that leasing some extra farmland nearby may be a nice way to plant my roots (/get my foot in the door). I'm in the need of a job change, I just need the motivation to begin. If you have any advice or experience with this subject please send me a message! Not looking for anything too big, but would love to put my hobby to use while I have the chance and the ability.**

Feeding schedule:
- Drinking about a gallon of filtered tap water a day, more when it is hot.

Nutrients: (Total PPM = 1,100)
1. Roots Excelurator Silver @ 1.1mL/gal
2. OSA28 @ 0.5mL/gal (foams, but doesn't seem to cause any problems)
3. Ionic Grow @ 15 mL/gal (--> Ionic Bloom and Ionic PK Boost with next nute change)
4. Orca
5. pH Down (pH = 5.6 - 6.2)
6. Botanicare Sweet (Citrus)

Room Temp: 79 F

Reservoir Temp: 63 - 74 F:

Height: 43 inches (110 cm)

* Battling the summer heat is no fun. A large aquarium chiller is definitely the next large present I wil be getting myself. **

** Having problems with mold and algae on my rockwool cube. Hasn't affected my plants stalk yet, but want to get it under control. Any suggestions? I've tried spraying with H2O2 (which sort of worked for the mold, but what about the algae, Need some help here from more experienced hydro guys! **

- Also, ignore the dying plants in the back of my room. They were tester autos, and didn't stand a chance at getting any light once this Glueberry took off. Not to mention, taking care of plants is a lot of work (as all of you know). People who pull off massive grows, my respect goes out to you.

Outdoor Girls (Day 91): Bushing out nicely and looking for a feed. Gonna give Neptune's Harvest Fish and Seaweed Fertilizer a try as a stand alone nutrient just to add some extra nitrogen to the mix.

Your plants are all looking awesome man! Your killing it- ive done a few hydro grows dude- is the algae growing on the top of the rockwool cubes a really dark green colour?

If so ive had that a few times and it never done any harm. Cover the rockwool cubes with more pebbles, its the combo of the light and moisture creating it.
Not so sure about the mould though? If your still worried post a picture.

Would wish you luck but you obviously dont need it- plus youve got some of the worlds best canna growers looking over your shoulder

Hey all,

Now that my baby girl is maturing I think it is time for a quick update. Bloom nutrients were started today, so a full nutrient change was done. I'm noticing a slight calmag deficiency on the leaves closest to the light, so I may try bumping up the calmag a little (or just nutrients overall, we'll see).

Nutrients: (Total PPM = 980)
1. Roots Excelurator Silver @ 1.1mL/gal (will stop this after this round)
2. OSA28 @ 0.5mL/gal
3. Ionic Bloom @ 15 mL/gal
4. Orca
5. pH Down (pH = 5.8)
6. Botanicare Sweet (Citrus)

Reservoir Temp: 67F

Hey All,

Again, time for another quick update. I've been under so much stress the past few weeks this journal sadly had to be placed on the back burner.

My beautiful girl is finally in full bloom, and I've switched out my MH for a HPS bulb to finish off the flowering stage. She is beginning to stack really well and I have multiple main colas which should fill out nicely over the next few weeks.

No new signs of deficiencies (always a good sign)

Nutrients: (Total PPM = 1200)
1. Roots Excelurator Silver @ 1.1mL/gal (decided to go one more round, this girl is maturing slowly and I like to keep my rootball happy)
2. OSA28 @ 0.5mL/gal
3. Ionic Bloom @ 15 mL/gal
4. Ionic PK Boost @ 5 mL/gal
5. Orca
6. pH Down (pH = ~ 5.8)
7. Botanicare Sweet (Citrus)
8. Botanicare CalMag @ 3 mL/gal (saw a slight CalMag deficiency beginning a few weeks ago. Looks like it is finally under control and not worsening)

Reservoir Temp: 64 - 73F (really hard to keep this in check with only frozen water bottles and a small aquarium chiller. Clearly summer is beginning in the PNW! )

pH: 5.5 - 6.2

- I try and balance at 5.7, but some adjusting needs to be done on the pH for the first 2 days after a reservoir change because the pH likes to rise during this time. After a couple of days, the pH stabilizes and while I still check it every day I wouldn't need to.

Update time, hopefully everyone else is having luck with there grows!

Not much has changed in the past few weeks, still steadily increasing in bud size. I predict within the next week or 2 my buds will really start to swell (none of the pistils have started to change, so I feel this grow may go past the 90 day mark. The stink from this girl is amazing. I get a very strong smell of berries and earth. I believe the blueberry genetics in this line will end with cured buds smelling like blueberries, but with the trichome coverage we've all come to expect from GG#4.

Nutrients: (Total PPM = 1300)

- Over the past week I've had a problem with my pH dropping and my TDS increasing significantly. Trying to get my pH and TDS back in check. I always seem to run into more problems during bloom than during veg. It can be very annoying at times.

Thanks for stopping by!

Any guesses on how long this lady will take to finish (I'm thinking around day 90+)?? What about thoughts on when to begin a total flush. Any help is appreciated!

I would say around day 90 too, she is swelling up nicely man!
Ph dropping ppm is a sign shes slowing down on nutrient uptake. Maybe lower next feed slightly. But shes going to have a huge yeild for sure.
Theres a few interesting articles on flushing on here that basically proves it myth- i'll post a link if i can find it. But for hydro most growers only go with a short flush 3-5 days.
Am i ranting now ?
:slap:

Aye, what Mr. Sanguine says..... Just happened across this, very smart growing, those genetics have clearly taken a liking to ya
tipping hat.gif

And yeah, Flushing.... personally never bothered with that sort of hullabaloo.... Here's some of the reasons Mr. @sanguine referred to explaining why https://www.autoflower.org/threads/flushing-the-myth-that-wont-die.56274/ or google 'the truth about flushing '..... WARNING: Don't go there defanged.... Lol

As per Sang and Corgs.

Say NO to flushing kids.

Looking beastly dude killing it, the number of huge glueberry's going makes me think hans wasn't just a freak and it's pretty common with this strain.

Though it still needs a good grower to do it justice.

Thanks for all of the advice. The more knowledge I have, the better grower I will become. The support on this site is amazing and allows everyone to share their grows without feeling inadequate or worrying about judgement.

@sanguine if that was a rant, you can rant on my page at anytime. Haha love the advice about lowering her feed to keep pH in check. At the moment I'm feeding un-pHed water just to get the ppms down and pH up. Between your and @Corgy 's comments, I clearly need to do more research on flushing in DWC. I'm still a novice at hydroponics so any and all advice is welcome.

@Sensi Jay thanks for the compliments! But, I truly can't take all of the credit. Dutch Passion's (@DutchPassionTony ) genetics are really some of the best. Out of all of the DP grows I've done, I have yet to be disappointed or yield less than 4+ oz regardless of light or growing conditions. Their plants are just grown to shine. Whenever I try a new grower, I immediately wish I would have popped a DP seed instead. Well, with the exception for Mephisto Genetics.

I have a Man Bear Alien Pig (maybe Stilton Special) just waiting to go in the DWC for the Mephisto competition in September.

@mephisto I can't wait to show off your genetics... When you find a winner, there is no need to search for another breeder. At least I've been able to find 2 seed companies more interested in quality products than pollen chucking. For that, I thank you!

Now, a quick picture of my outdoor girls. They're getting jealous:
