    Day 17
  • Hello one and all - trust you are all keeping well and staying out of trouble!
On the 2nd day of Christmas my little ladies be 17 days old - overall they are moving along except for the Red CBD which is continuing playing the runt.

The Boomstick from @Sawney_bean is probably the healthiest looking lass in the tent but they are all a bit wonky - not 100% sure why or what, but this morning I changed the res, and yesterday I increased the humidity and upped the feed to a stable 1.2 along with lowering the PH again to 6. Temps are still very stable, and the colder it gets outside the better I think the inkbirds work together in the lung room and in the tent the graphs show the lung room being really erratic throughout the day and night hovering between 20 and 27, but within the tent the temps are sitting pretty at 24 lights off and I nudged it up to 26 lights on.

The res is now made up of grow A&B, a dash of calmag, and root tonic, I haven't added my regular monosilicic which I would have done by now, as I want the stalks to be a little more flexible for me as when I get on the silica early I notice when the time for super cropping or aggressive training comes I get more snaps, so until I do the first round or two of bondage I will keep the sikica at bay - I expect it is total bro science, but it is how they feel to me with or without.

Top left ---clockwise you have - Trichomes and Cream, Mimosa Punch, Boomstick, Sweet Red CBD

The Boomstick, currently the only one not overly effected by the droop they others have going on.
    67D7DD66-C9CA-4660-9764-14BDD800D92F.jpeg

Overall, comfortable with their progress on the 17th day of their life, bar the Boomstick they are all relatively long flowering and looking at other diaries the two along the top will get large.

Anyway, after testing all the buds from the last crop to see who pressed the best we have a close match between the Dragon Fuel and the Purple Punch, but the Purple Punch came out trumps, I did not weigh what went in, but what went in was about the same, and what came out of the Punch was quite something.
Therefore the only sensible thing to do was to press some more, so I got through about 30g of buds and ended up with some lovely rosin (a dab over 7 grams)..what an great plant for pressing! Using the 120 bag at 204 for circa 3m30s.
Also I wanted to see which way is the better way to prepare the bags, the answer is plain and simple, do not do the flat rectangular - go for the cylinder shape - the results speak for themselves.

Two bags, roughly the same amount of weed, the rectangle was repressed in the mould, the cylinder was hand bodged.

Nice rosin but very little and you can see the amount stuck on the bag

    The cylinder

    The difference is stark!
Anyhow, with the spent pucks I put them in to a jar and when the jar is full I fill it with Ethanol for a quick wash and make RSO with it, it is probably the best oil - Just a very quick qwash in the Ethanol takes all the left behind rosin - works a charm.

    - QUESTION - how many times do you press each puck, I see online people doing it more than once - is that normal? I do the once then in to the jar they go

A couple of other squishies from today

    Time for a haircut
  • Hello everyone! Hope the start to your weekends has treated you well!

Today they all got a haircut, when they are this small it looks like there has been a massacre, but they had reached the 4th and the 5th was on its way so the heads came off the back two plants, and the rest just got a clean up and lower growth removed - the two at the fron tshoudl finish first so the aim is to train the two at the back to keep it under control.

Now the hose pipe ban has been lifted I can use my hose again which makes life easier, although I was getting used to using pure RO, I think I am going to go back to a mix, but now with the bias being towards the majority being RO in any given res.

Anyway, they all seem fine, seem to be recovering fro what ever happened, I think it was a combination of to low RH and too much Nitrogen.
Basically, I used Canna start to get them going, after the first res was half done I topped up the res with regular grow nutes, the combination was perhaps a little high on N as both Canna and my grow nutes are heavy on N....lets see. After their haircut they all got a good soaking in Velokelp - I will take a look later today to see how they have fared.

Thats it for now - cheers for popping by

    Day 20
  • Hello all - its cold here now which I dont mind, but it is will most certainly add to the leccy bill over winter.

So then, they had their first rel bit of abuse on Saturday, the T&C is really struggling, she has been for a while, but a they are all feeding of the same res there is not much more i can do other than ride it out and see how she goes from here on in.

The Mimosa is doing fine and has bounced back just fine from her topping and clean up. The runt that is the CBD auto is strolling along not taking any notice of anything I do to remedy her runtiness...

The Boomstick, is the most alert lady in the tent, staying small as proscribed by the wizard @Sawney_bean and has taken her trim up in her stride and is the only lass that is praying at the moment.

They are all plodding along ultimately, but they could be a lot better - I have tried a few things nothing seems to have worked, and so as not to chase my tail I shall let them go for a week and see how they go with no more chnegs in temps or RH or nutrients. As such I resset the res again yesterday to my normal everything and off we go again.

    Day 22
  • Hello all - the Boomstick is growing nicely, very stock at this stage but she reacted well to her first round clean up.

The Red CBD auto has finally woken up, it took a good old fashioned bit of abuse but she is awake now

Today I upped the lights tp 70% and raised it by an inch or so. And with the four ladies eating from teh same res I have to find the cool medium which is currently an EC of 1.2 and a PH of 6.2 - so there it will stay for a couple more days then I will pump it up a little and see how we go from there.

Have a grand old day all

    Day 26
  • Hello all - a quickie for Sunday.

The ladies have all been trimmed up, and the two DP ladies have been topped and tied down.
EC is 1.2, PH is 6, temps relatively stable considering the cold in the garage. They are getting 8 feeds throughout the day now which will stay there for another week or so depending on how they go.

The Boomstick, has been the healthiest throughout this grow so far, with the Pure red CBD has been the runt, she has perked up and is growing well I think but she has never stopped drooping.
The T&C has all sorts of issues going on, but she is growing just fine so after a couple of res changes and tweaking humidity etc...I have deceided to let them go as normal. The MImosa is doing very well and is the largest in the tent today.

oh, the Arizer arrived on Wednesday, so she came straight out the packaging and got fired up - so far so good, but after only having had the Volcano classic, then volcano digi it does seem like a step down but it works well - I shall do a review after a couple more weeks once it has had plenty more use.

    day 30
  • Hello all - how goes everyone?
So then we are now on to day 30 and things are going along as they should.

The changes made since last time:
    - Lights have increased to 80%
    - EC up to 1.4 (a little lower but the bluelab goes up in .2 and it is flickering between 1.2 and 1.4)
    - Bought the PH down to 5.8 for this res full
    - Increased res temp to 22
Everything else is as is, except I turned on the second fan to increase air movement a touch.
All the ladies seem comfortable with the 8 fertigations per day schedule so will keep it there for a while and increase to 12 when the run off decreases a bit.

Since Sunday they have mainly been having minor haircuts daily, and adjusting the ties on the DP ladies to keep them low before their stretch starts. Also any unwanted new growth will get removed today and tomorrow leaving the desired number on those two. The expectation is the two along the front will not be as big so they are having minimal touch ups. I really must get back in to the habit of a flat canopy, it is not hard but laziness has gotten in the way the last few grows...lets see if I can keep up the momentum.

Full tent - clockwise starting with the T&C top left, Mimosa Punch, Boomstick, Pure Red

Pure Red CBD - she was off to a bad start and just sort of 'runted' along, she has perked up a bit now and has started crowning so expecting her grow a bit over the coming week. There are still signs of her runtiness and she is never overly pert, this said she is going. She will treated with a schwazzing before the week is out.
    8D11F7E3-94B4-48FB-B5B0-274A6F29BCFD_1_201_a.jpeg

Boomstick - so the far the least sensitive of the bunch, as you can see she is stocky, so I have let her be, every second set get removed completely up the main stem to ensure space when she flowers. Still perky, and for her age has a remarkable hashy scent - possible Afghan somewhere in its genes? @Sawney_bean
    50BAB052-155B-4079-BD27-65DA0C85BA0D_1_201_a.jpeg

After removing the larger leaves you can see she is just a solid little bush a little stretch and she will be all good.

Twas the day after Christmas - otherwise Known as Day 40
  • Hello All - hope you are all well and are not hanging too much today

Been a busy few days, drove down south to visit the family, picked up a variety of herbs (nuts I know), but got a nice bit of Lebanese Hash, some Jamaican weed, and a sack of Thai. I cant help myself sometimes if there is something like that floating around, no matter how much top quality buds, oils, rosin etc... I have available, I will always pick up an old school smoke first.

Anyway, checked the plants this morn, realised they are running low on water and there is zero RO water left around the house, so I do have to get up again and leave the house to stock up. The Alternative is to just add 20 or so ltrs out of the tap and adjust accordingly until I get around to moving myself.

EC is too low, when I left on Thursday it was 1.4, and it was 1.2 when I came back, so when I do fill the res later it will be at an EC of 1.6 - this will be made up of Bloom A&B, root tonic, and topped up with Calmag probably at a lower rate of .3 or .4ml per litre.

They are all doing pretty well now - the T&C is growing pretty fast now and is abnormally strong, I used a couple of ties to hold down a biggish branch and instead of agreeing to it, when I came back she had snapped the whole branch rather than stay bent...The Mimosa is also getting big, but that is expected from DP stock.
The Sweet Seeds Red CBD is bigger but surprisingly small, and if you recall from teh start has looked a little tired, she still sporting the "dirty stop out" look but it suits her so its fine, and you can see now where the crowns are coming with nice dark colours.
The Broomstick, is one stocky lady, never quite grown anything like her, you could say she has 'regenerative powers', no matter how much I cut away to make space for her buds when they come, she grows it all back, fast - but she is strong and has bene the healthiest of the four this grow, and as before she smells and she has yet to start flowering in earnest. And she still smels of hash, al you have to do is loo at her slightly and she wafts over a lovely afghani aroma.

Once I get the water sorted, I shall be going in heavy for tying and defol as there is far too much leaf on leaf going on. Not pretty in there as always, but the canopy is relatively flat, there are plenty of solid heads ready to get flowering, still a littel bit of tent to fill but considering the two DP girls have not really concluded their stretch (or it could also be argued that they have barely started it) that filling the gaps wont be an issue.

Full tent - clockwise starting with the T&C top left, Mimosa Punch, Boomstick, Pure Red

    Day 44
  • Hello all - hope you are all well!
So then, back to normality & I hope and no more old war films and cheery stuff - yay :pass:

Decided to go and stay in London for a few days, so just been in to sort out the res and all that lovely stuff - Went to to Spotless water yesterday and filled up 120 litres so have enough of that for a few days. They are now at 10 litres per day between the four, the Red CBD looks a bit waterlogged, but nowt I can do as they all need to drink. I did nudge it up to 10 feeds per day but that was a touch too many so pulled it back to 8 feeds per day with each feed ranging between 15 and 30 minutes.
Still only receiving Bloom A&B and root tonic with a touch of calmag to get the EC to the right place, I am still having issues with low EC in the tank - and I must confess it has me stumped.

The tank has had fill ups at EC 1.2, 1.4, & 1.6 respectively over the past 3 refills, and by the next morning the res is back down to 1 to 1.2. At this stage of teh grow they should be sitting pretty at 1.6 to 1.8 - this is baffling, non of the plants are showing signs of over or under feeding but they seem to be gobbling up the nutes in a similar fashion to an individual who sucks c*ck for rock...neither of those scenarios appeal.....Any ideas anyone?

Otherwise things are plodding along nicely - the two DP girls are really shooting for the skies now and I have to tie them on a daily basis as they are pulling themselves free and developing in to an uneven canopy.
The Pure Red is really an oddity to me, it is small, droopy and has been the same for ages, she is growing and crowning and smells rather nice now too, but just a lack of vigour from the start.
The Broomstick got some serious abuse a couple of days ago whilst cleaning her up a snip, I managed to completely snap one of the larger branches, so I just used the bendy ties to hold it in place - today it looks like she has made a full recovery, imagine that a broken arm and back to play within 48 hours.

An abused but loving life Broomstick

Pure Red CBD has her hedgehog on - hedgehog reminds me of a very funny story, when I had the US team over to my offices in Dubai a few years ago, my son and daughter came to the office and sat outside the meeting room until we were done. Once done, both of them asked me why the Americans keep shouting Hedge Hog and clapping and Cheering...took me ages to work out what they were saying, then I realised the kids were hearing was "Good Job" which is a favorite board room chant from our bretheren over the pond. So, from then on the word "hedgehog" became key part of our 'boardroom bullshit bingo' game we played to keep things amusing - had most of the international team shouting out Hedgehog during CxO presentations. Absolute cracker

A flat canopy no more - this is my biggest gripe with the way I built the Lung room. I only have one entrance to the tent as it fits snuggly, so once they get to a certain size I can't really get to the back of the tent to work. Havingclub hands and sausage fingers makes it all the harder as well.
