Hello :)

This will be my first full diary on AF.

I use a Plug and Grow 250W CFL, these have ten inch tubes, give 19,000 lumens and pull 200W of real power, giving 95 lumens per watt (minus the usual electrical losses).

My diy growbox is made from chipboard, it is 4 square feet (2x2) and only 3 feet high, lined with Mylar and using passive intakes plus an extract fan and carbon filter.

Lumens per square foot is 4,750, i will use LST to provide maximum light penetration and an even canopy close to the light.

I normally use Plant Magic compost but this time i am using Carbon Gold Grochar compost, which is full of lovely stuff for plants but this will be my first use of it.

I use Plant Magic organic nutes plus some biosilocon in the middle of the grow.

I'm growing World of Seeds 1 x Northern Light/Big Bud cross plus 3 x Afghan Kush Ryder, all in 2L pots, each plant should produce an ounce so target is 4 ounces.

I will use a 18/6 light/dark cycle because the plant needs this much darkness for various reasons.

I put the seeds in glasses of warm water for 24 hours, then transferred to damp kitchen towel wrapped in clingfilm for another 24 hours and the tap roots had a good start.

The three AKR's (sorry about the blur, the camera just refused to focus on the AKR's !) :

The Northern Light/Big Bud cross :

I recently did a Dutch Passion Starryder auto grow and pulled 4 oz so am confident i can do it with the AKR which is a medium yielder.

This is what WoS have to say about their AKR :

"Afghan Kush Ryder is a cross between Afghan Kush and Ruderalis. Our Afghan Kush comes from Kush strains with 100% Indica genes cultivated in a small area in the Hindu Kush mountains in Northern Pakistan. This cross is a good example of Cannabis Ruderalis, which, over the generations, has been crossed and re-crossed to produce a strain with Indica characteristics and autoflowering genetic programming. Afghan Kush Ryder can be grown indoors or outside and can reach 80-90cm or even higher. As flowering does not depend on photoperiodism, she can be grown at any time of the year although yields improve the better the environmental conditions. For indoor growing we recommend a 20/4 light/dark cycle throughout. A good tip for outdoor growing is to plant out as soon as the good weather starts then repeat a few days before harvesting the first crop to give two good harvests a year. Some growers do more, though owing to the less favourable conditions, these crops tend to be less productive. The effect is extremely potent, so relaxing that it’s almost narcotic, which is why the medicinal value is so high. The taste and aroma, like its predecessor, Afghan Kush, evoke the best very aromatic Afghan hash. "

This is the WoS blurb about the NL/BB cross, translated from Spanish by Google so forgive the oddness of the grammar :

"Based on two of our best mothers, Northern Light and Big Bud, we have worked for four generations and then crossed both separately retro selecting the best individuals, up to the individual car. The plant size is ideal for indoor and outdoor cultivation, reaching in some cases outside the 1.70 cm, and inside can reach 1.30 cm, depending on the size of the container in which it is.

The plant has a perfect canopy, very symmetrical, where all the branches grow to the same height. Tubular plants are usually not too wide, producing large, dense buds covered with a sea of glass resin with great medicinal value, of which exudes a strong smell of sweet citrus like mandarin or pineapple. The plant, at the end of flowering, buds usually ends with a very showy purple.

It is our variety with medicinal value auto version, no doubt, this new generation of autoflowering hybrid plants will cause talk."

Day 1 will be when the shoots pop above ground and i will do weekly updates with videos.

Thanks for reading,

nibs.

Good luck with the grow brother.

Oops !

Thanks Tang :)

The NLxBB cross is a photo not an auto !

I'll have to dump her and stick in one of my DP seeds.

I now have a DP autoblueberry germing.

Also switching from 20/4 to 18/6 after what i've been reading about plant growth during the dark hours.

Good luck with the grow man, I'll do my best to keep up as I'm using the plant magic organic range too. Will be nice to see how these turn out :peace:

Hey Pal thanks :) What strain are you growing, doing a diary ?

All the best,

nibs.

Just an update on the smoe report for the blueberrys - it's really nice, on par with my past favourite the AKR.

It's really dreamy and relaxing, maybe a good medical bud i don't know ?

I am (as ever) wondering why most of my grows were low potency, i'm thinking some strains may prefer my environment.

One point about my growbox is that it is made of chipboard (don't know what they call it in America, lots of bits of wood compressed into sheets) and chipboard sucks moisture so bad you can't even stick tape on it that will hold for long, so i have low humidity.

The AKR is from Pakistan and LOVES low humidity, i don't know about the blueberry but perhaps it thrives in the same conditions, but these are the only two strains that i've grown using CFL that have given me a proper altered state, lovely smiley high.

We need a CFL growers thread, lots of research to be done i think.
