Indoor World of Seeds 1 x Northern Light Big bud + 4 x Afghan Kush Ryder 250w CFL organic minigrow.

When I was using my cfl setup I had great success and the quality was great, though the buds were a little fluffy. Always grew with 4 2700k 250w equivalent and 4 6500k 200w equivalent. The 2700k is needed for great potency smoke IMHO. Lots of grow karma sent your way!

Day 12.

OK a midweek update.

I went away from lunchtine Saturday to lunchtime Sunday.

I checked the plants at 2pm and to my surprise they are already showing signs of lack of N !

I knew the soil bought was light but not this light ...

Normally it's a couple of weeks before i need to start with the nutes.

So today i gave them each 250ml @ 0.5ml/L of bloom and 0.25ml/L of biosilicon.

The Northern Light x Big Bud had sprouted a tail on saturday morning so it went into clingfilm, when i got back today the tap was 1cm long so that seed is now planted.

Pics (sorry about blur i had the cam on macro, but you can ee the yellowing, happened over a surprisingly short period of time. In the first picture the poor thing has a large bropwn tip on one leaf :

you want to work it from the actual wattage not equivalent :)

Ye, my 250W red uses 190-200 watts, my 300W blue uses 204W, doesn't seem right if you work out the ratio.

DAY 14 3 x AKR. DAY 1, 1 x Northern Light Big Bud cross ...

Girls are doing fine, apart from the one with brown, crispy leaf-tips.

I thought the soil must be very light in nutrients but only one of the plants has crispy leaf-tips so i'm clueless as to why.

They are on 1ml/L of grow nutes and every other feed they get 0.25ml/L of biosilicon.

I'm calling today day 1 for the NLxBB.

All the best,

I got it totally wrong :(

The soil is too HOT !

Now I've given them two feeds with nutes and made things worse ..

Oh well, plain water feeding until things clear up.

Must learn to tell the difference between over and under-nuted ;+}

How do u tell the difference between under/over nutes?

With vegetative nutes, a lack of N makes the leaves turn a lighter green, then yellow, then mottled brown.

Too much N (or bloom nutes) and you get yellow leaf-tips, eventually turning crispy brown.

I've got loads of really good books on growing, including a hydroponic one that goes into great detail about various plant deficiencies or surpluses of nutes etc, anyone wants them PM me and i'll zip them up into a file and stick them on the web somewhere.

DAY 21 for AKR, DAY 7 for NLxBB ...

The three AKR's are fighting the hot compost, the smallest one was having a hard time but looks like she will pull through now. New growth is looking good so they will get past it.

The NL x BB cross is looking good so far but over the next week we will see how she handles the heat in this compost.
