Why am i constantly failling?

Jiffy pots are absolutely fool proof. Easiest way to germinate. Takes all the guest work out. And you will have maximized success

I'd send pics to Royal Queen seeds & ask them what they sent me. Oh yeah, UK can't sell seeds for germination purposes. Those look really weird & for all of them to look like that ??? Well something aint right. Doesn't even look like weed. Are you in the UK ? I buy a lot of seeds from Herbie's Head shop & it's sister company Discreet seeds which is right next door to Herbie's. They are on St. James place. I've had 100% success with their seeds. The good part is....you can buy 1 seed or as many as you like & the prices are great with lots of Freebies. I've only been growing 2 years but never had anything that looked like that.
Someone mentioned it could be the soil. That's possible; but I doubt it because my 1st grow I did in Miracle Grow (not knowing any better) & I still got 2.5 oz. per plant. I also got lots of gnats that I had to deal with. That's the biggest problem with some potting mixes (mostly the cheaper crap you find in a garden center). My 2nd, 3rd & 4th grow I used 50% Fox Farms Ocean Forrest mixed with 50% Bio Biz Light Mix Soil & all I did was water only for the 1st 4 weeks. I always germ my seeds right in the pot I'm going to finish in on Auto-Flowers & I only drop the seed about 1/4" down. You may be planting your seeds too deep. Are you making sure the tails are facing downward when you put them in the holes? I can't see any other reason they wouldn't come up through the soil unless the tails were facing the wrong way or they were planted too deep.
As far as lights. You can do a complete grow with just CFL bulbs. It would take several. However I do know 1 person who has like 20 - 23 watt CFL's in his tent (overhead & on the sides of his tent) & he doesn't do too bad for CFL's. So you can grow with cheap lights / you just wont get a big yield. More like an oz. per plant. Lights are probably the most important thing when growing. I always thought my 2 - 600 watt Meizhi LED's were adequate....LOL. Then I bought 2 - Advanced Platinum P 900's & found out how wrong I was. Went from an average 2.5 oz. per plant to 5-6 oz. per plant almost instantly. That was in soil in 3 gal. pots. New grow starts in about a week with 6 - 5 gal. pots with 6 different auto's & 1 - Re-Veg Photo in a 6.5 gal. pot & 2 - other photo's in 3 gallon plastic pots. I veg the photo's til the Auto's are done & then flip to 12/12. Makes for 3 big ass plants when they're done. Lights / Temps / Humidity / pH are your keys to a successful grow. Humidifiers work wonders. I use a 6 gallon one in a 5' x 10' x 7' tent & it not only brings my Humidity up it drops the temps in my tent by 5 - 8 degrees F. It also helps circulate the air.
Do you check your pH ? In soil I keep mine between 6.2 - 6.4. 6.4 is the best pH for Mag & Cal uptake so I try to get as close to that as possible.
I know are growing systems are way different; but believe it or not .... I started with a Cardboard box from a washing machine that I covered in foil with 4 - 90 watt CFL's & Miracle Grow Soil & still got a couple oz.'s off 4 plants. That inspired me & here I am today still buying & up-grading my equipment all the time. Just a few more things & I'll be where I want to be & will hopefully improve my yields.
Anyways, this is the way I grow....did grow .... switching to Coco for next grow. Hopefully, it will give you a little more insight on things. If you have any questions I might be able to help. I've spent a good 6-8 hours a day for the past 2 years on different sites reading everything & anything on growing & have learned a lot. Thanks You Guys !!! Wouldn't know Jack if it weren't for YOU !!!

Royal Queen is a highly respected breeder.
If their seeds didn't sprout, there could be a couple of reasons.
If you got them from a seed bank, and not directly from RQS, then the bank could've messed them up.
Second, a lot of growers have a lot of trouble geminating.

Hi There! :D

I see you struggling - so thought i would throw in my 2 cents for what they're worth (more than 2 cents IMO lol)

Id say the humidy isn't killing your grows ... nor the lights ...
It's most likely the soil, the seeds or the water you're using. Out of those 3, i'd look at the soil first.

You ideally want a blend thats not nutrient rich (a light soil) - If you post up some available options, someone will be able to pick a good one for you!

Mars lights .... I've seen people win competitions using them ... so while they wouldn't be my first choice - i can see they're affordable and will do the job.
Humidity - There's ideals ... High in veg ... low in flower .... But at 40% you can grow start to finish with success. I did at around 30% for many years ... tired a humidifier and it was a pain in the ass.

Water ... What kind of water? From the tap? Is it High PH?

Usually what kills a grow for a new grower is environment. Both the environment for the medium (too hot with nutes or too cold with temperature) and the environment for outseid the pot.
As someone rightly said 80f is about right for germination and 75-85 you can grow comfortably in (85 is reaching the upper limits where you'll see taco leafs appearning)

Soil and Water is your culprit in my humble opinion!

Good luck with the next one - i'd drop some more beans to germinate - that picture is just TOO funky to carry on with (in my humble opinion)

:bighug:

Good luck!

For seedlings, you are fine with even CFL's or T5HO's to start them, they don't need a lot of light, just watch for stretching. Your light is fine for that. Once they get some growth going is when you want to look into more lumens, check out the lighting forum when you get a chance.

Looking at your seedling, I'm also really suspicious about pH issues. Do you have any way to test for that? That is pretty much a needed item for your grow. For a soil grow, a pH probe is fine, the Accurate 8 comes recommended by a few people.

I am worried about your mix being a bit hot too, does it have anything added to it? Are you using any nutrients yet?

:yeahthat: I have to agreed with them. Im curios to know what the soil blend is?

I'm.sure if you check out kijiji or Craig's list or whatever site you have like that where your from you can find a humidifier for 30$ or under

Thanks for your reply i will check it out the problem is that i seem to be unable to get anything growing, and a investment in a humidifier would be wasting money if that is not the specific reason to why i am failling.

Thanks for your reply i have been doing some reading up on the soilmix that i have been using and accouring to the manufactuers website it should be ph 6, accouring to my PH meter( not a advanced one) the soil and perlite mix is around 6,4.

I know cannabis plants like slighly accidic soil around 6,2-6.5 but that a little bit of variation dosent hurt. How much of a potential issue could this be?

As far as cheap lighting I've got five Amnesia under a $19.95 led grow light from Home Depot. Full penetration and absolutely no light issues. They are starting their bloom period. (So are my peppers and tomatoes that haven't made it outside yet from the dank cold this spring).

That is very impressive my friend, here i am spending what is for me a lot of money and cant even get one right.

Thanks for replying accutally 4 failed and the 5 is the strange looking one that you see in the pictures. Sorry mate :p i am not in the U.K. You seem to be a very advanced grower if i could get anything going so that i dont waste all this money for nothing would make me very happy.

I will get some PH strips(should be more accurate then the cheap PH meter i have now) and check the soil PH if that is possible, my current reading have been around PH 6,4. I did my best to point the tails down when planting and avoided to plant them to deep. Will found out in a few days if i have managed to f up once again. Cheers mate

If by germination you mean getting the seed to open its shell and a root starts to grow from it, then i have found a similair method that have worked for the last 4 seeds. Plastic container make to holes on top, inside place the seeds in a papertowel, cover them and spray some room temperature water( check PH if neety).
