Got all the way to there and realized I never mixed pumice into soil!! Am I guessing correct I need to dump it back out to add it in?? Not sure if that’s needed for drainage when growing in SIP container so please let me know if I still need to add it!:thanks:

No pumice Stone - we want wicking action, not drainage, you are just fine ..... Dirt looks very rich, good luck!

Well like a dummy (again) I forgot to check to see if u responded before adding some! Pulled the layer of compost and straw off the top and tossed it into lil bucket so could put it back n then dumped boxes out 1 at a time and mixed couple handfuls in so didn’t go crazy with it! I did also remember to mix both some grokashi and some of that em1 bokashi into the soil and mixed it up good and then refilled the earthboxes back up!

That what I’m looking for so they can start getting worked some?? Put an extra rootmaker into the top there so when it’s transplant time I can just pop em out and have my shape ready to pop new ones in! Also didn’t seem like there were near the worms in my bin as I expected or I just wasn’t looking hard enough cuz wound up just dumping 1/2 the bin out and then split it 1/2 n 1/2 between em but since I’ll need some for full size earthbox I’m just gonna go grab another lb of em! I’ll just add a small handful to each the juniors and couple decent handfuls into the big box! Leftovers can go into the bin!

The 2 mephisto testers are alive and standing so hopefully soil will be worked over good by the time I gotta swap em over! Gonna grab full size EB from my local guy and a bag of Oly fish compost while I’m there! Def excited for running these 2 testers in the juniors over original plan of just popping into 2gal rain science bags! :smoking:

@TxRebel or Mark .... looking solid ..... might want to slip covers over boxes and add some wet straw and sprinkle some kashi on top - mist after adding kashi and slip cover over - no slit until you transplant- when transplanting soil should be damp in box the box and RootMaker - just slip plant into the hole, pat down and lightly mist top soil only, don’t over mist DO NOT water transplant - watch over next couple days and if needed mist but I’ve never had one that needed any water as soil was moist as well as start pot .... Good luck, looking real good.

PS .... if you slip some two short 2x4 under box it will raise up and make water catch tray management easier and less slips from tray not being lined up right.

I’ll pull em back and add lil more straw and kashi and spray down lil from sprayer bottle! Was already lil moist cuz I spray it good and then tie into a trash bag in garage to break down a lil bit! Is that how the covers supposed to lookonce on and was I supposed to do that to let fill tube poke thru??
Oh also I noticed quite a few worms in the top layer when I went to pull mulch n stuff off this morning!:d5: As always thank u amigo!

Most :welcome: .... going to be exciting to watch your grow .....

Just put piece of duct tape over blank hole and wrap around pipe as well ..... I also add a piece at each corner ..... Moisture will condensate under cover and help breakdown compost / nutrients to flow thru soil.

found green eb juniors for 15$ each free shipping! seems really cheap? $13.47 each if u buy 4 or more..hmmm

**edit**: went to purchase 4 and they were sold out or something. couldnt complete the transaction

have you used/considered the 20x12x10 city pickers sip? 2400 cubic inches vs the eb juniors under 1600.(tentative measurements, as both have a tapered design and im not going to do the extra math). a cubic foot is about 1730 cubic inches so looks like the cp 12x20x10 holds considerably more than the junior and would be an an easier shape to work with imo. downside is im not sure if they come with a cover or not!
