Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

I just paged through a catalog on the table in front of me. That neat Red reflective mulch film, called SRM- Red, is supposed to increase tomato yields by 20%.
Cheers

In the Carter and Reagan Days I would pour over the Seed Catalogs - Park’s was my favorite and order who knows what, absolutely love watching plants grow even some weeds are beautiful - take a field of dandelions for example!

Good news thus far :)

I harvested my 2 coco 4AM's. I was prepared to throw away all the trim and coco because of the thrips but I could not find a single one. I looked pretty dang thoroughly. So the trim will get processed into bubble down the road at some point. They were chunky little girls. Perhaps one of them was a tiny bit early, but it was either harvest or start tying up branches. 96 days is on the high side for 4AM.

The gnat pressure is significantly reduced, perhaps near zero. I put up fresh traps for the first time since sealing off everything, that should let me know where I stand over the next couple days. I think sealing everything up may have done the trick, especially the drain holes.

3 left to go before deep cleaning and next run. 2 Jr's are close, 1-2 weeks. The walter white in the grobucket has been an interesting grow. She started out with very green leaves with some light splotching. Now she is completely lime green (I added a nice layer of neem seed before sealing the top with sand, plus she has had alfalfa and others so don't think it's nitrogen but who knows). She's still putting on weight, so who knows at this point.

I got a bowl trimmer for the popcorn/larf -- love it for that. When you are 4 hours into trimming it's hard not to just chuck everything in there.

Getting time to start planning the next run. I'm actually considering maybe autopots, which would be effectively doubling down on SIP -- lol.
Autopots are a waste of money, I didnt like them. And if you have bugs now, you have more open areas for them to stay around. I had a flood with Autopots once. That was enough.

Glad to hear somewhat under control - you will improve next grow .....

what’s this chat about auto pots - brother don’t go backwards - you’ll do much better next go around ......

when I saw the global bucket and the open top I figured that spelled trouble - perhaps that was not the source but trust when I say with a plastic cover and using an Earthbox bugs won’t happen - perhaps I’m too old but I believe you never fail until you stop trying - do you really want to consume chemically grown over organic goodness - I stand firm on the organic side and have smoked my own organic bud all of 2019 and now into 2020 and I won’t go back to hydro street ever again - if my Grow goofs I’ll seek LOS grown bud, might even take a trip to Michigan and find some!

Is this SIP class warfare? :yay:

I was looking around at some passive, no-electric type options to play around with. I'm not sure I can justify the price of 'em. Might try blumats though.

“ War, what is it good for, absolutely nothing” :finger:

With a Blumat system you’ll have drip lines and holding tanks to set up along with dialing in the drip settings .....

Considered Blumats before I got the EarthBox - I purchased a four or five pot blumat system - spent couple hundred on them ... They are brand new just sitting in the closet and would love to unload at huge discount so if interested let me know, it’s brand new and money really is not a concern - will let go cheap if interested ....PM me ....

Explore those options but the EarthBox, IMO is the way to grow and I’ll put money on that statement - NO BS I’m a firm believer in the SIP and Earthbox is the leader in SIP technology......

I think that I could make a Superior SIP, by improving on the EB. I like my Juniors, but It isnt perfect, and with a few minor upgrades it would be even better. But for the price, the EB Juniors are totally worth it for how they perform. Ibam gonna make some SIPS for my clones. I want to make larger SIP specifically for my clones. To hold 4 to 6 clones thst will only veg 10-14 days and flip. Sea of Green pretty much. FWIW, I had Blumats many years ago. For those who want Autopots or Blumats, Blumats are better and work very well with Coco and nutez. They would prob work well in soil, but I prefer having a shower cap for my soil Juniors. I know Earth box has an Automated system to hook up to them....not sure how well it woks? Each method has advantages and disadvantages.

First thing to improve is the shower cap -

second fill tube funnel top, snap on version with flip cap -

I think the insert is fine and holes probably need to be the size they are but dirt drops down inside reservoir, not sure if a problem or solution needed ....

Blumats are great in larger containers and large fabric Planting grow pots but not so much for small tent grows unless I guess you setup res outside and but then when you wanna take plants out - I don’t know, seems like tubes going all over - just seems like a lot where in a large continued you service the perimeter, you don’t move it .... Anyways I’m an Earthbox fan ......

Wanna see that clones / sea of green design, interesting.

I know a lot of folks that use the blumats in soil and they work well. All the hoses would drive me nuts, and I couldn't turn my plants, so I don't even consider them. If I was away from home, more than I was there, I would consider Blumats. In my situation, I don't mind watering 6 plants a day.
cheers

I agree. I personally like the idea of the cap, but not the function. I envision an easy access top for weekly top dressings and pest proof without taping up holes. I like the built in funnel/lid idea. Could also make a Rez Level indicator visiable from the outside. The shape is good for a single plant, but for a SOG I will have a larger Square tote to house 4 to 6 plants. I would also make a built in trayto catch overflow, instead of a stupid plastic bowl that only holds a cup of water...thing is almost useless. I would also put a mesh screen over the overflow holes to make it pest free at each potential point of access.

Level indicator and mesh I like those but the different shapes could be challenging- oblong seems to work well and I say that because the root Earthbox DOES NOT work well for our plant - for some reason but for sure study possibility .....Perhaps a version in-between Original and Junior ....

filler tube that comes thru side of box, rather than inside - have it outside the cover area - so cap didn’t have to go over tube - maybe separate piece molded in the side or plumb a piece and either case add a slide in place extension or even funnel extension .....

of course most changes would add some type of cost except simple ones like make the cap stronger, corporate America for ya ....

If we :pass: one we would probably hit on more!

PS .... Suppose outside filler tube is a hardware store trip and sharp hole saw - wouldn‘t be that hard, idea is to deliver water to the res and not leak!
