Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

Our state has changed so much that the prices for good normal Onions is only $100-$150 per onion and Good LOS is $150-$200 per onion. So $50 more here too. But the difference is most peoples Organic onions around here look like "Sativa Larf" according to my good friend that blows glass. They have a running joke about it. Because people roll thru and their Organic buds have no density and are lower quality than NonOrganically grown buds. If you can grow quality LOS buds the demand is higher, and supply is lower. With leagalization the Quality is what seperates things in the long run. I predict I will have a higher demand for LOS than my Coco crops. I have my rotation started. 2 new Juniors every 2 weeks. I have a great cycle and plan to follow for rotation now with my new tents set up for it perfectly. Excited for the next few months, I have nothing but optomism with switching my personal garden to Organics. It is the future anyways.

Chicago Market isn’t mature as that yet - $250 normal $300 LOS at least in late 2018 - I’ve been free since then - Sam went a long way along with her stable mates and I added a couple sunshine girls at end of last summer so all so far is working out. :pass:

A lot can change in a year in the market. Its different here now, recreational dispensaries are open now. Laws have changed, and tons of people start to grow their own. So it changes the supply and demand and the rates as well.

Law of Supply and Demand - Soon supply will catchup but Illinois Onions won’t ever be as cheap as they are in Michigan.

Never say never! A flooded market happens at some point when legslization is passed.

Yea right but ......

Illinois does not have an open grow market like Michigan so supply in Michigan will be higher than Illinois keeping Illinois prices higher is what I am saying!

You are right, for now. Any state that progresses to Legalization will eventually have a flooded market. If they pass recreational, things change. There is big Cannabis lawyer dad on mybsons travel baseball team. I am gonna pick his brain. He gets licenses for dispensaries. I want to see how much and what it really takes to go commercial. They passed some different laws, and licenses. Some are supposed to be for smaller operations, like 100 plants and you can legally sell to anyone of legal age. That would be perfect for the homegrower to transition to, instead of the Rich getting Richer.

So I just went and top dressed my Clones for the first time. They are getting huge! I have to flip on Thursday once my new tents are set up. I am really happy with how they have done so far. But to be honest, 2 clones in the Junior makes it really hard to top dress. There is not much working room once the plants get larger when you have 2 in 1 Junior. I have 2 more sets that are a couple weeks behind the large ones. So, my options for doing clones moving forward are to either do 1 per Junior and veg longer. Or do 2 per Junior and flip within 10-14 day veg. Or do 1 Clone in different pots and only veg 10-14 days. But I wont be vegging 2 in 1 Junior as long as these went ever. I am tempted to try the Gal bucket SIP for my clones. Because putting 2 in a Junior is becoming a pain in the ass as they get larger. You cant top dress easily at all, its annoying already. I only want to veg them 14 days max moving forward.

Actually I have an idea on how to make my own Earthbox, for my clones specifically. The shape and size of Juniors are not ideal for a super quick veg of clones. They are too long and would waste space on super shor veg runs on clones. Putting only 1 clone per Junior woukd require a longer veg to make the shape worth using. Since it is best to put 1 plant at the far end of a Junior, it allows us room to top.dress easily. Making my own woukd save space and also allow me to do more clones in the same tent. I am really glad that I figure this out before putting 4 more clones in Juniors. I was going to do that Thursday after my tents get out up. But knowing now that it is such a pain to top dress them, I cant use the Juniors for 2 clones again. With clones I can run a sea of green, with minimal veg time. But first i have to see how these 8 plants do. I have 4 Juniors with 2 each. I need to flip the smaller ones ASAP too, necause they are the size I truely intendedto attempt in same Junior. Frankly my larger ones went too long in veg for what I want, but nothing i can do about that now. I will go to Menards tomorrow and get some supplies for my homemade CLONE SIPS. The strain is Fast Master. I have not flowered one yet, but supposed to only take 7 to 8 weeks to flower. So large pots are not needed and they will only need top dressing a few times. Total grow time 8 to 10 weeks with veg. So they wont be large and wont need as much food as a large plant would need. My goal with the clones is Sea of green. Once the smaller clones start to flower I will have a good idea of waht to expect. I know the mom got massive. So it has potential to get big in flower.

Hey @slowandeasy - Organic Onions - good question I don’t know as we still have a few from the garden but I’ll have wife check ..... Yield will go up for sure with experience- Same for me as I figure out this indoor lighting - I am of the opinion that single cobs work best when plants are different varieties- i am finding different strains like different amount of light NUGS and 24k for sure not as much as Goldie - I’ll get it figured out after a few more grows ....

Not sure why WC took longer than anticipated and not sure Kashi would quicken up things but do be careful, not too much - remember the soil is suppose to complete a photo grow, my top dressings are usually done to feed the worms and I don’t use much dry except Kashi and some Craft Blend and Kelp - I’ll add kelp more often than Craft Blend ..... I think with WC a top dressing around 25-30 days and some Kashi would of helped for sure along with EM1 and / or Mammoth P would of made a difference .....

Oly Fish Compost you can get on amazon too, freight is killer as usual but I truly think it is worth it - worms love it - so I am stoked I’m telling you I’ve never seen them go nuts like this on a top dress - there were more on top but once cap comes off down they go but still look at these guys all over it - these guys are making fertilizer for the girls ..... I add about six ounces per side so 12 oz total per dress - no Kashi as I wanted to see what Oly Fish did by itself - results were amazing - I’m pumped ....View attachment 1148660

So week later I added some aged straw - I have a bag full of straw that been wet and aging for awhile so I grabbed some and sprinkled on top of Oly and added some Kashi and I got this going - note Kashi on top - more castings - more good organic fertilizer in the making - now I’m really pumped View attachment 1148661

I do like the drench and will try but not on these girls - I have about a 3-4 week supply from the summer outdoor we did - my buddy has other half so my take was - well only half so I need these girls to finish good doing what I know works .....

Slow always a pleasure to talk with you - told you that over a year ago and it still holds today. :pighug:

Peace my Brother,
MOB
Single cobs on yo-yo hangers is the ticket. ( I use side light cobs as well). I can totally agree that every plant seems to like a little different distance to the cobs. And it changes throughout the grow. It also gives you the ability to deliberately go high to try and stretch super compact plants like gold glue and 24c.
cheers

Enjoying watching y'all go go go. I'm still battling. And learning. Put on my big boy pants and dealing with it. Haven't seen many thrips lately, but I swear the gnats just lay their fucking eggs right inside the mosquito bits. I don't blame them, my soil in the SIPS is "teaming with fungi", lol. The only time it's not fuzzy is right after I top water.

I'm trying to turn what I thought were negatives into positives. One big tent? Positive is one space to climate control, enough space to walk around, and I can swab the deck daily with clorox. Doing a deep dive into IPM has caused me to change a lot of practices, especially with regards to keeping my tent really, really, really clean. Properly disposing of waste and leaves. Timing and methods of growing. I feel fortunate that I'm spinning up my pest knowledge before I get any of the bad ones. Thrips and gnats are largely nuisances.

I've been slowly doing treatments of sort to see what works. BTI doesn't seem to do shit, I literally have a solid layer of mosquito bits and they laugh. Maybe if I soaked them and top watered for a week straight but not impressed. A week or so ago I did a top dress of some neem meal watered in with some spinosad. At that point harvest was at least 2 weeks out so I felt comfortable with a soil drench (even though you could theoretically do that up to harvest, I'd rather be cautious).

Yesterday I picked up some play sand. On my 5g grobucket, I sealed in the soil with 1/2" of sand. Get through that, MFrs. I also plugged all drain holes with some landscape fabric. On the Jrs I have a mound of sand surrounding the fill tube under the cover(which seals that) and put some sand on top of the cover around the stems (seals that). I've refrained from nuking the soil.

I haven't given up on organics yet, still learning, still planning. I think I've come to the conclusion that I hate the Jr covers. On the one hand it's a decent barrier. On the other if you don't maintain your hermetically sealed cover..... I might give it a whirl with a largeish fabric pot, cover crops, etc. Maybe some banker plants. Maybe some lacewings. I've come to the conclusion that using dirt (particularly store bought bagged organics) bugs come with the deal.

My coco 4AM girls are getting close. I had to tie one of them up last night because of bud weight. Good problem :) It's a contrast to the dainty little organic girls. I know they are a different strain so it's not apples-apples ;) I've ceased all organics on them and reverted to h2o2.

I'm itching to drop new seeds. Couple more weeks and I'll feel ok bringing new plants into the tent.
