Mephisto Genetics White Crack and Kis Organics Soil

OK each to their own .... All I can tell you is what worked for Sam and the EarthBox .....

I had a moisture meter that showed the millibars and the range of moist we want is in the 100-110 range .... with meter in place in earthbox the range was perfect in the 110 range .... I keep the water level filled, sometimes adding well over a gallon a day once we were into heavy flower stage .....

I added mammoth p so as to keep the micro thingies working - your choice to do or not to do .....

Castings are simply added on top of dirt, every couple weeks but remember I raise worms so easy for me to scoop out a handful or two of castings and simply add to top of the mix ....

Remember when I said we want condensation on underside of the plastic cover - spray mist if you don’t have that going - depends on humidity level inside your tent ..... I actually soaked rags and laid over the plastic and believe it or not I got condensation on the underside of the plastic ..... this is what @Organic Sinse is talking about keeping top of soil moist - when the plastic is condensing no worries otherwise spray mist underside of plastic mulch ....

As organic stated, worms recommended but not necessary .....

As for Tad and SIP Containers I can’t speak to his experience- I haven’t heard much from him in SIP Container regard - his experience is more with pots and large living soil containers .....

On adding EWC to mix, already went over this but again, I added a couple capfuls direct into the mix, suggested two cups in the junior bin and a cup or two on top .....

Best of luck ..... Like Tad says, KIS and don’t overthink it, the soil you have along with just some minor supplements will do the trick.

Here is a log of water used in earthbox last few weeks, unreal amount of water - left side earthbox - right side fabric pots

Slow, one thing to remember is growing organic requires a bit of a crystal ball or anticipating what your plants will need two to three weeks out. That is because organic amendments need to be broken down and the process takes about two weeks. Unlike salts, it’s not readily available.
I have not found a way to grow under Cobs without adding cal-mag. Everything else can be supplied. @Roasty McToasty has been running total living soil for awhile.
Truth is, I intentionally choose strains that finish fast, so that they can get it done before exhausting the soil.

With good starting soil and top dressing I had no issue with any deficiencies- none zero zip. But starting with good soil is key.

I am pretty much on the same page with Tad regarding not watering teas into the soil, unless you have a problem.
I have moved this direction with my thoughts on teas. I only use water in the soil. I use teas only as foliars. If I want to add something like kelp or malted barley powder, I mix it with wormcastings or vermicompost and top dress it. Regular compost or leaf mold work great to mix with too. My thinking is if it’s already in my soil mix, I have it covered. I also feel it’s best not to screw with the soil pH or microbe life by adding teas. In healthy soil, the plant will communicate with the microbes through the plant root exudates, and set up an delicate balanced exchange.
I haven’t watered in a tea for several rounds now and have been super happy with the results. Plus it’s even less work. In addition to not using teas in the soil, I have also dialed back the amount of nutrients I add to a soil mix.
What you want to do to make a good living soil last is top dress dry leaves. Gnats won’t bother with dry leaves, and it’s great food for the soil. If you don’t want to bring in stuff from outside, the big fan leaves from canna work great. Just let them get crispy before mulching.
Hth if ya want to know more I could go on for a while.
Cheers
Os

You can dry the leaves and freeze them before adding thus helping avoid any bad bug issues and helps them breakdown even quicker .... same with banana peels or any organic materials - freeze first before adding.

Thanks for the info, just wanted to make sure about the EWC. Some people say add immediately and some say wait. I will add your suggested amount. Yes Tad may not have experience with Sip Containers, but he knows the size of the pot and I personally want to see what just water and the soil does with minimal intervention. This will give me a Baseline to go from. Obviously large beds would have more space and require less maintenance daily due to size. But of the dude who made the soil says to give it a try and see what happens, I'm down to experiment and that is what this is. I have 2 seeds on Day 1 that I will use as my Mammoth P experiment. I feel more comfortable starting slowandeasy and adding more as I experiment and learn about Organics. Plus I spent a fortune on this Soil, I want to see what my money does! Thanks again! Making Earthbox Junior #1 up in 15 min! Went to the Dollar Store and got a tarp, funnel, and some other cheap supplies to keep my place clean. The wife gets pissed.

Thanks! BTW I just filled the Earthbox Junior with water. The Rez on the bottom holds about 1.5 gal of Water. Max without soil in it, then it overflows. When you watered in Flower, did you get runoff out of the overflow daily? Peacez slow

That's awsome I would like to learn more about organic growing. Sending good grow vibes and karma ur way I'm gonna tag along

Always had a drop or two one out of overflow - I keep it filled ..... Amount of water used in flower was unreal but I never let her run out - I made a dip stick and would check level and water as required until a drop or two came out or quick check with dipstick said I was full .... put a small tray or a rag under drain hole - easy and no mess .....

Also remember when filled, the water is still below the dirt level - the wicking action comes from the depressed cups of soil emerged in the water ..... thus importance of a peat based soil such as the original mix .....

Here’s a better look at water usage ...... on left column is large EarthBox and seven gallon fabric usage - on right is three seven gallon fabric pots ...... the sip container water use was unreal - some days over two gallons and that’s in a plastic container with a mulch cover

Just transplanted the White Crack. Day 10. I will be waiting a couple more days next time. The starter mix crumbled to easily. I am sure that it will be fine, but the mix kind of crumbled right as I put her in the hole. If it stalls at all, that would be why. But I'm sure it's fine. I did the transplant because roots were poking up the bottom. But the top is what broke off a little. Oh well. I need to put something better under this one, to catch RUNOFF. This tent is an odd shape. And it won't be in there the whole grow, just a few weeks. Will snap a picture later. Peace, slow
