Fkn shitty week. Had a Magnum now with two small spots of mould this am....cut the shit off and rescued the rest for a smoke....
Well i think the small outbreaks of botrytis is being assisted from the damage done by these fkn bud worm caterpillars that I have just discovered.... Spent the am going over all the plants and killing the fkers...
The only parts that have been effected by mould also have caterpillar damage in the surrounding area. Also just to give me a kick in the guts today, a few spots of powdery mildew on some leaves. There's just no predators around compared to lat year.
So in the pm I will make a spray of apple cidar vinegar + liquid soap & water. I have milk sprayed all the plants in preflower too.
Heres hoping I can get these finished without too much more damage
Damn man, sending you some anti-pest karma my friend. Boytris and caterpillars to boot sucks. Those caterpillars decimated my entire stock of mother plants a few years back before I could get rid of them. They will ruin a plant quicker than anything I have ever seen. Best of luck Vas.
@A4 my mate ! Thanks for the rep & karma brother !!! One consolation, I dried that Magnum bud in my car today and just had a smoke of it, aah that lovely piney flavour and nice buzzy high, even uncured. Buddha Magnum is a def staple in my auto diet
Ok so I made up a spray of 1 Tbl spoon apple cidar vinegar, 1 T-spoon liquid soap with 2 L of water and sprayed it all over the plants last evening. That will take care of the PM and was hoping for some damage to the bud worms, found two dead this am which was great and only one live one which was big so i delighted in squishing it's innards out it's mouth. No mould this am either. Some of them are really coming on and I think I'll be going for an early chop on some if this worm & mould problem persists but for today I'm back on top. I'll be brewing a tea for the micro herd tomorrow, bit behind with the rain. I can sense the girls & soil need it.
Found a few more caterpillars this morning. A lower branch of a Hubbabubba had some damge so I chopped it, dried it in my car and am smoking it now.
I went out and bought some BT (Bacillus thuringiensis) bacteria powder...
Have sprayed all plants thoroughly. When caterpillars eat the sprayed leaves, they feel ill, stop eating and then this bacteria ruptures their guts open and they die...
Vas - Next season, if possible, can you put a few cabbages nearby? If you can, they'll draw the attention of those nasty caterpillars & leave your plants in peace. Once you're rid of the caterpillars, you'll not have the mould. It grows in their frass (bug poop) & feeds on the digested plant material... Spreads really fast. I have to be vigilant (or grow more cabbages).
Thanks for sharing your recipes! Very good of you!
