New Grower Urgent help needed

Sorry man, I`m wrecked right now(quote pinched from EoF, a truly true Gent!(love y`man! :baked:) ...555 :hippy:

Out of 7 sprouts, this is the second one I find laying on its side. The stem appears to be broken at some point.
What could be causing this? Could the lights be too close for a 2 day old seedling?
Distance from CFL to plant is about 10-15 cm.
I am slowly giving up on growing. I can't seem to understand why the plant suicides like this.

that there seedling has suffered from DAMPING OFF !!! its been kept to humid conditions......was it in a prop @ some pouint or bagged ????

I'm afraid I don't know what's caused that.... I did have one die similar from a pot that went on to produce a lot of gnats, thought it may have been larvae damaging roots.

Regardless of cause I believe best repair attempt is a toothpick and gently cupping soil up around.

I start seeds in soil under 2 x 250x cfls, I start at approx. 18". II also don't have a fan circulating air until they're a few weeks old at least. Good luck

Yes it was under a plastic cup for a few days before I removed it.
Maybe the environment is too dry.

Thank you for your advice, but I already disposed that seedling.
I will keep my lights a bit higher and give the fan a break, even though it's blowing at the lights and not directly on the plants.
So lost. So impatient. So lost, again.

I can provide a couple tips here.

To prevent seedling stretch like that, run your cfl fairly close 24/0 until a couple true leaves pop, then you can add your dark cycles if ya want.If one has stretched and fallen over just cover most of the stem with dirt, the sprout will naturally raise itself towards the light. The buried stem will grow roots.

Come back home to find another plant dead on its side. Lights aren't too far away, I'm scared if they're much closer it will burn them. The stem appears to have a breaking point where it is extremely thinner relative to the rest of the stem.
I think I am about to give up.

Take the cup off as soon as you drop husk and the Cotyledon. You always have the option of adding more of your grow medium right up to just beneath the cotyledon. That should solve your problem - fresh new roots will come out of what you just buried and it will eliminate any need for further worry or maintenance.

Due to being extremely annoyed I threw two seedlings away, an AK 47 and a TD. :/
I thought I'd have better luck; things seem to be moving against me.
