Technical Issue Hulkberry Auto - seedling stage, strange leaves, please help.

so after feeding 450ppm today, the run off is 1000-1100pm (4 plants, 2 are 1000, 2 are 1100).

is this increase in runoff normal? i heard some say that it is normal for the run off to be more than twice the initial feed ppm.

also, i feed at a pH of 5.8, and the run off pH is 7.6...

Me personally I think I’d just increase the frequency but you might want to do a partial flush get that ppm and ph down some. I’ve done it both ways but how are the plants looking? You might be over feeding something or at 450ppm it’s probably more of just left over salts and buffer solution that didn’t get washed out. Or salts building up from the coco drying out as soon as the coco starts to dry the calcium and magnesium are replaced with potassium all just guesses but hope it helps. I typically don’t see high ppm runoff I think I typically over fertigate most the time which is why I believe but I don’t check anymore either.:pass:

Just a quick update,

the plants are going well just now.

i think i noticed the mistake i made... the coco i use has been washed and treated, then buffered to ec of 0.5. (this was on their website, i didnt even notice it)

which means its already been buffered with calmag... so i made the mistake of adding extra calmag to my nutrient solution, which is why i think the plants were slightly struggling from calmag toxicity...

update on plants, looking quite healthy now.

anything i should worry about? the right corner is taller than the rest... same strain, not sure why that happened.

With better, including better buffered, cocos now available, there is no need to add cal-mag if your base nutrients include auto-suitable levels, nor is there any need to pre-load coco with cal-mag. Unneeded cal-mag can only cause problems. For ex., I use MegaCrop 2-Part and maybe 1-2x in a grow add a low dose of cal-mag; using Canna coco and Tupur right out of the bag (no buffering or cal-mag loading treatment) with >25% perlite.

If using good buffered coco, do not add cal-mag unless the plants show they actually need it, or it is presumed prudent to add some for prevention, such as know that Ca/Mg supplementation is often needed with your base nutrients at a certain stage.

i spoke to the company where the coco comes from, they said its buffered with calcium nitrate. so me adding extra calmag may have overshot it.

now i know :)

update... the bottom feed system i have is working well. but im getting this strange build up at the bottom of the plant pots not sure what it is... if left undisturbed it forms a form layer, if disturbed you can see the layer flaking off and swimming around the nutrient solution... anyone know what this could be?
