New Grower Urgent help needed

My light 10-15cm away. CFL strengths vary from 36 watt to 65 watts. It couldn't be my roommate cause he likes the bud and I'm sure he has nothing to do with it.
How far should the lights be from a 2-3 day old seedling? I am getting really confused, might be visit from the aliens.
I am trying to support the dead seedling with a tooth pick, but it is so dead that even one of the first two leaves died off. I think it will go to the trash can very soon.

You can almost get a cfl right down to the seedling almost. Put it down to just a few cm away then put the back of your hand on top of the plant. If you can feel the heat then it's too close.

The same as everyone else has said, for 2 days old your stems are to long. do like @Dark Matter said and you should be ok. Any more probs post more pictures at different angles. Hope this works bro.

all great answers. I would get the cfls closer and put your finger in between and check the heat. If your finger can take the heat, then the seedling can. The "praying leaves", we call it is a good sign the plant wants more lumens but is healthy, so drop the lights a bit. The seedling stalk stretches and can't support the weight of the leaf structure, which also tells you to move the light closer. Just make sure the bulbs are in the 6000k range for veg and 2700k range for flower.

It could be any number of reasons. I`d gently put something like a bottle cap/lid under it to lift her off the medium. Then see if she gains the strength t` straighten up. It may be dampening off, but she dosen`t have the `scrawny` stem atm. Also remember that some seeds are just weaker(some are extremely sensitive to ec/ph etc)...They`re real livin` things(not synthetic tuut! ;)) No way t`tell, til` they pop. I reckon you`re doing all right and if you bring her back then great! If not, well, that`s how it goes sometimes. :karmacloud: sent for her, be gentle and give her a chance! :greenthumb:

Get a clear cup or glass and place it over the plant and down onto the soil (like a greenhouse) could be your air is very dry ? Plus keeping a glass over the plant at that stage keeps the soil within the cups boundaries nice and moist .

Or cut the bottom half offa 3l water bottle(and poke some holes in it with a nail or somefing). As above, use as a closh. They are newborn and sometimes need lovin`! (if you look at some of the `most sought after strains/clones`, they`re quite often the hardest t` find(and then, keep going!). Hence their properties are much sought after:greenthumb:

Thank you all. I killed her already.
I was using a plastic cup as a greenhouse but was advised to remove it as soon as it sprouts and the first two leaves appear.
How long should I keep the clear plastic cup on top of the seedlings?
Thanks again :)

Tbh, I remove when they look `curious`(if I reckon they`re up t` it!)...I know, not helpful(I don`t use tents atm!), sorry...:smokeit:
