Hello i gave up on soil as could not get the hang off watering it kept killing my plants since been in coco i have had no probs with over watering there is a art to soil growing is it in its final pot when you sow your seed
In the final pot Dell when I sow, no transplanting etc, i just make a wee hole 3/4times deeper than the width of the seed and cover lightly with soil. It can only be the seeds, I just can't fathom what's happened to them, I did have a power cut a few months back for half a day but that shouldn't effect seeds kept in the fridge bagged up. The seeds coming will be the test I think, if these don't go then it must be a soil/temp/humidity problem.

After sowing they're on their light cycle, I'm not running lights off until the girls make an appearance.

All the water used to saturate the pots is 6.5-6.7 into Biobizz light Dell. The only thing I have noticed is that the surface of the soil after about 4 days, started growing a small amount algae under the humidity dome, just enough to put a greenish strain on the perlight but not enough to be a concern. Ive just taken the pot out of the tent added 3litres of water to run-off. I'll put her back in the tent and the sow the last Fantasmo later that's been shot glassed for 8hrs.
3 litres of water to run off for a seedling?.. My seedlings or cracked seeds just get sprayed with weak seed weed mixed with rain water... Soil and coco are very different, I don't think soil suits huge amounts of water, it basically flushes all of the starter nutrients in the biobizz straight out the bottom, so you end up with a flooded seed with no food.. I grow organically, never water to run off, just keep the soil alive and moist, never pH my rainwater. Happy to help any way I can mate.. :d5: :vibes:

The one thing i do diffrent from you is i dont water the hole pot to start with i water around 6inch circle around where i am going to plant the seed then i losin it with a fork to make it fluffy then pop the seed 10ml down then cover with dome as the plant grows the circle get wider

I don't normally water to run off Rusty, it's just that I'm sowing into a 16litre pot and that soil has been drying out under lights for a week. The soil when you pick it up and squeeze it now has no access moisture it's just damp. The run off water is just to ensure there is no standing water at the bottom of these pots. The Lechuza pots have a 3litre reservoir at the bottom which I didn't want excess standing water in, for when the roots make it down there in a few weeks, it's virtually impossible to over water as water drains away from the strata into it's own reservoir.

Do you think I'm best emptying the soil out and refilling it with fresh Biobizz and then saturating that soil ready for sowing?

I might must ditch the dirt from one pot, refill with fresh Biobizz and take your lead Dell. How much water are we talking initially, enough to darken the soil and moisten it?

yea i put about 500ml then fluff with fork so its just moist down to about 6 inch deep then cover with dome and wait till she pops up then just water slowly outwards with enough water to keep it moist i know everybody has diff ways of doing it this is the way i find works best for me

well my first mephisto girl is growing she is juicy fruit haze going to keep her in a little pot just to see how big she grows in it she is the balck paint kettle pot the others are brain damage by growers choice and the other one weeding cake by sensable seeeds

I've got plant envy :smoking:

I've ditched the Biobizz over the roses and refilled the container @Dell boy. A light layer of perlite over the top and then 500ml of water added ready for tonights bean that' being shot glassed. When this pot goes under the lights later, should I be concerned with the soil becoming hydrophobic outside of the dome?
