The plants only 12 days old so I was planning on doing dry amendment top dressings and compost teas. I was wanting to grow fairly naturally so kinda making it up as I go along.

I’ve been growing for years and I’ve never come across ‘dry amendment too dressings’ before. One tip I will give tho mate, and it’s holds so true for when your starting out:
less is always more.
id recommend coco and hand watering daily. You won’t go far wrong with that method.
in the USA they use ppm but it can mean different nos by who make the meters so ppm 500 or 700 but ec is universal no matter were you are View attachment 1238587
Small very cheap led veg light in UK?
Hi UK grow friends..
I have a little project started and am looking for advice on a small led veg light
Basically it only needs to illuminate a tray that's only 20 inches by 16 inches just in a small enclosure for stealth with just an ambient fan for air movement
No flowering, just enough to get them well on the way before I transfer to the hps tent
Couple of weeks max
At the moment I'm using the window sill so anything better than that would be a bonus
I'll do a diary on my project but want to get it set up a bit first
I am redundant due to Covid so budget ideas please
Thanks in advance

I also used these goose neck led lights for seedlings but didn't rate them also why don't you use a metal halide bulb for veg as you already have that fitting but if I'm honest why i was growing with hps i used it from start to finish
I'll have a look at the cfl lights I could quite easily make something to work with those I guess, I was thinking more of a small led panel suitable for veg stage to hang above The tray though... I know there are alot of cheap efforts floating about when I search, I'm sure most are junk, but there are sometimes little jems in amongst lol

I used CFL for years for veg mate. And as @St. Tom they’re cheap and efficient too. I now use a CMH too veg as I occasionally need something too supplant my flower area so I invested in a light I could use in both circumstances.
I also use a single tube T5 for seedling and they are also very cheap and efficient. I think the single unit cost me about £15. You can get multiple tubes in a unit too increase your light intensity and coverage.
But, if it’s cheap and cheerful your after you can’t go far wrong with a cfl. A 300w is about £30. Plus, you buy blue spectrum cfl bulbs which are perfect for veg.
