Do you put your plants in dark before you harvest??
Thanks Pops, I never tried.
At first it seems counter intuitive, why give them less light just when they need it most.
Reading more about it... well you helped me learn something new.
No light means no photosynthesis, no sugar production.
The plants have to use stored sugars, that is good, turn those sugars into Cannabinoids!
And no light means less heat so less decay into CBN.
Seems like a win/win. A final boost in Cannabinoids without decay.
This quote is old and not sure I believe 30%.. but very interesting:
"growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same"
I don't think pitch black darkness has a magical effect.
Maybe the key is dropping light levels way down to minimize photosynthesis.
They can stay in my grow room with the fans... just turn off their CFLs.
I will try this with the last 2 colas. I need to snip
before and
after buds from the same cola for comparison, right?
