Mephisto Genetics Tyrone Special K.I.S.S grow journal

Day 53 Tyrone tall, this plant was FIMed and was 10cm taller, the 6 colas are longer denser and better developed. It will be fun to compare average yield per cola for TOPping Vs. FIMing.

Here is a final shot of the last 4 colas before chopping.

Thanks Pops, I never tried.
At first it seems counter intuitive, why give them less light just when they need it most.
Reading more about it... well you helped me learn something new.

No light means no photosynthesis, no sugar production.
The plants have to use stored sugars, that is good, turn those sugars into Cannabinoids!

And no light means less heat so less decay into CBN.
Seems like a win/win. A final boost in Cannabinoids without decay.

This quote is old and not sure I believe 30%.. but very interesting:
"growers separated a crop of mature plants, harvested half of them and kept the other half in absolute darkness for 72 hours before cutting and drying. Analysis of the resulting dried buds showed that some varieties had seen an increase of THC of up to 30%, while CBD and CBN remained the same"

I don't think pitch black darkness has a magical effect.
Maybe the key is dropping light levels way down to minimize photosynthesis.
They can stay in my grow room with the fans... just turn off their CFLs.
I will try this with the last 2 colas. I need to snip before and after buds from the same cola for comparison, right?

HB
I look at it like shocking the plant, and in return it make more tri's a little more. 30% is a big stetch, maybe 2 to 5 %, more so to amber up.

How many days have You flushed prior to harvest Hubba ?

How many days have You flushed prior to harvest Hubba ?

Flushing? Isn't that for toilets?
I didn't over feed, why should I flush. The nutes were at 500 PPM (1 EC) start to finish, every watering.
If the plants drink more they get more nutes, simple, easy.
I checked the runoff twice, it was under 900 ppm. The plants are using the nutes, no heavy build up.
Very mild leaf deficiency in final 2 weeks, seems just about right.
This is the second grow in the same container, same soil, the trunk and root ball of the last plant are still in there. Seems to work pretty good. I think I'll use it again. Lets see if seedlings can grow through 3 old root balls.

Some people are so sensitive they can tell you the brand of nutes in your buds.
Not me, I can tell red wine from white wine. And I can tell you that Tyrone at Day 51 gives a spectacular high.

Here is the new and improved nute schedule.... SSDD (Same Shit Different Day)

Day 01 thru 10 tomato food 500 PPM
Day 10 thru 15 tomato food 500 PPM
Day 15 thru 20 tomato food 500 PPM
Day 20 thru 25 tomato food 500 PPM
Day 25 thru 30 tomato food 500 PPM
Day 30 tomato food 500 PPM until 20% runoff
Day 32 thru 35 tomato food 500 PPM
Day 35 thru 40 tomato food 500 PPM
Day 40 thru 45 tomato food 500 PPM
Day 45 thru 60 tomato food 500 PPM
Day 61 thru 75 tomato food 500 PPM
Last day: tomato food 500 PPM until 20% runoff to prep for the next grow.

Hey Mitch, do you guys flush at Mephisto?

Tomato bloom nutes are not the best choice. But they are a good solid starting point and I am using the best tomato nutes that I can find, not generic industrial stuff from a garden store.

Complicated schedules and 6 bottles of custom nutes are fine for advanced growers.
I am a cannabis newbie, this is my third grow. How would I know if exotic nutes made a difference?
Heck, I still haven't found the upper limit of what is possible with Tomato nutes!
Results from experienced growers seem to show that exotic nutes can improve yield by 10%:

Are you kidding me? I would barely notice a 10% difference in my little grow room.
Improving my basic growing skills can make a 100% difference, free with a little help from my AFN friends.

Give an exotic sports car to a new driver, and chances are good they will grind the gear box and drive into a brick wall.
I still need training wheels.

If you are a newbie and can do this much with so little (nute-wise) then that gives a complete first time grower such as myself much hope for my growing future! Been following all your K.I.S.S. grows and I'm thoroughly impressed...keep it up [emoji106]

Thanks!
I have been growing tomatoes for a few years, that helps. Cannabis is easier than tomatoes and more fun.
Tomato plants are fussy primadonnas looking for any excuse to die.

Cannabis is easy but the info about it is confusing, layers of myth and misinformation built up over decades.
Seems like even the "experts" are confused when it comes to Cannabis:

I'm a big advocate of k.i.s.s!

We add a total of 4 items to our soil, our deep blue c's have had no liquid nutrients and the frost, aroma, smell and development are really really nice so far.

Keep up the good work hubba!
