Yeah your right they do come loose but it's easier to reposition but I see your point if there anchored down properly then there will be no need to reposition them

I guess it's something you learn over time you seem to have it nailed I will keep a eye on your work to pick up tips I have only ever grown small plants but I plan on starting some Dutch passion autos in the summer and from what I have seen I will have some monsters to tame

Certain strains train alot easier than others. For example I have two forgotten cookies from mephisto that were a little difficult to train bc of how tall and skinny they are. I had to top them to stop the stretching. Another option is a smaller single scrog net. Ive made 2x2 and 2x4 ones that go over a single plant and it worked great but makes watering a bit difficult. I still have them and can show you a picture and the materials I used. It cost me like 4 dollars to make using pc and twine. Im a electrician so i have alot of romex laying around thats how i came to use it for training and since alot of ppl on here have seen it and adopted it as well. Alot of ppl train to aggressively to soon and don't allow the plant time to respond to the training. I wait until the plant starts growing back vertical a inch or two before I adjust it back down. And I wait till the plant is 6 to 8 inches tall to start any training and I do it gradually not a straight 90 degrees all at once.

This is a hater and troll free thread for anyone looking to comment. I come on here to be supportive to other growers and get advice and help from others. If I want drama and debates I'll go on facebook. I'm not talking about anyone on this thread just saying.lol.

I'm getting everything in order I got all the totes connected via 1"1/2" pvc and uniseals with a float activated subpump in the lowest one to pump out all the waste water outside when it gets high enough. I have 5 gallon buckets for my nutrient solutions and a little pump in each one with a handheld wand to water them. I have a drip system but i prefer the flood and drain to help wash out the salts and leftover nutrients. I still got a few tweaks and adjustments but so far so good.

Great update post. Plants look really well trained. Nice.

I've been considering an automated watering system for awhile now, but with the cycle I have going and the varied amounts I put in of the base nutes I'm not sure it's possible?

With the speed that these plants go, and the small amount of nutes going in, I've never considered nutrient build-up and issue and as so I've never watered autos to run-off. Do you find the run-off makes a big difference?

I agree with all your points about training, though I've never had a plant be overly stretchy, IMO the more stretch the better. I have accidentally topped several plants trying to bend them too much on the initial turn, so to counteract that I use a 4 tie method on the 1st bend to ensure minimal stress.

Not looking to hate or troll, just trying to find other growers using similar methods to my own so we can evolve and all grow the same record breaking results. That said we all have different goals, and not everyone is looking to maximize yield. If you'd prefer I not comment or ask questions I won't be offended, I've been told my posts are matter of fact to the point of rude/braggy, sorry bout that.

Your welcome here my friend. That kind of stuff is why I'm here in the first place. That post about trolls was meant for ppl just looking to be negative and pick other people's grows apart. And their ate many of them types on here. And their usually the ones with no pictures of their own grows. The best grow setup is the one that works for YOU.
Far as the runoff goes I always water until I get at least 10% runoff. Runoff is a must in my opinion. I also do a mid grow flush around transition from veg to bloom to push out any unwanted nutrient buildups. In theory hydroponics is that the plant has access to everything it needs at all times from air to water and all the nutrients it needs. The best way to see if you need more runoff or a flush is to test your runoff. You want around the same ph and ppm coming out as going in maybe a bit higher but not to much. My tds meter saves my ass all the time and it's a cheap instrument. You don't need teal fancy expensive equipment to grow great plants.

I never got the hang of testing PH, even bought a decent meter but all the keeping it wet b.s.had me sick of it in no time. Is the Apera instruments P21 the only one you use to check your solution going in and the runoff? The only reason I stick with advanced nutrients is because I don't want to test PH, so if you stand by your meter I might give it a try.

My 5gal air pots would need at least 3.5L of feed to get 10% run-off, which could take days to dry, and I find the plants grow much faster/bigger with daily feedings. I think I'll order some smaller pots and give watering to run off a try with those, or maybe use a faster drying medium like coco instead of promix with my current pots. Lots of fun stuff to try out. I do like the nute savings of not watering to run off, and not having to remove the waste, but it's worth a try if ph'ing run off helps improve consistency that much. I also love that the unofficial AN auto schedule I'm using from Spanglish calls for only bloom nutes from start to finish so there's no transitional flush. I'm all about convenience, but I'll gladly take more precautions if they lead to significant improvements.

The Apera is the best ph meter I've had and works great I bought that before I had a RO system and therefore had to ph down my tap water. Now that I have a RO filter the PH perfect technology actually works so I rarely use it anymore. I try not to follow anyone else's feed scedual bc every grow is diffrent and it might not work well for me like it did them and it forces me to learn and read what the plants are telling me. And 5 gallon pots are sometimes overkill with autos unless it's a super auto like ultra lemon haze that has a longer lifespan. I use 3 gallon smart pots and 3 gallon airpots. Although I do occasionally use a 5 gallon here and there.cocos not cheap so the 3 gallons save alot of money and from my experience perform same as 5 gallon pots. If you water daily and have a good perilite to coco ratio 3/4 To 1 gallon should more than suffice to get runoff. But this is not a guide like I said every grow is diffrent and you know what your grow needs better than me. This is just my thoughts is all.
