New Grower The Plants of The Ape

Count me in ^_^

:pop:

There's some good advice in here
I found out how fast a tap root grows on my last grow.

In 4 days it was 8 cm long and my transplant was fine.
In 7 days it was 16 cm long and my tap root accidentally got 4-5cm ripped off in the transplant process. (not a great start lol)

As slater says, i'd get your pots ready soon!! :D

:goodluck:
I agree 110% on the knowledge base here at AFN. Harvard would charge a lifetime mountain of debt for what you can learn here. I'll be dropping them in their brand new "Hungry Huts" in short order.

Thank you, Blue.

Give the hygrometer a salt test to find out how off the accuracy is

Thanks, Skell. I'm familiar with salt testing. I was turned on to the wondrous world of Cigars early in the Marine Corp. I stayed with it until it became more expensive than buying groceries for the month. The Hygro has been wonky for a while and calibrating it has always been a test. I was hoping that it would at least get me by until May. I have an old barn thermometer somewhere in the garage, and I am pretty sure there is another Hygro out there too, off to rummage about I suppose.

cant tell an awfull lot about how a plants going to turn out after a week,in a months time the small one could be the biggest.depending on time of day i look in me cupboard hum could be 40% or 70% id only start to worry if it got 75+ or 25- constant.
i dont do transpalnts reason being its one less thing i have to do or to worry about.
agree with all said above to.
keep er lit.

Thanks, Archie. I hear ya. I knew I should have gone right into their 3gallon pots. And then I talked myself right out of it. I read post after post, grow after grow right here at AFN all citing the "one less thing to worry about" mantra. And I still pulled the ole' knucklehead maneuver. I pride myself on listening to those who have "been there and done that" there is no substitute for experience and I disregarded all of it, and worst of all, I didn't even listen to my own instincts.

I'd ground myself, or at least put myself in time-out but I'm old school, so I'm going to have to go out and pick a switch from a tree. Luckily I'm too damned short to reach one in this wheelchair or I'd be tanning my tush!

Its too bad you didnt spot this tutorial earlier...would have made it much easier for you https://www.autoflower.org/threads/...ictorial-and-root-restriction-stunting.64509/

Thanks, Skell. What a great piece. This eases my mind quite a bit, going by your general guideline I will be right in that sweet spot of 1-7 days. Now hoping that I don't shock them 6 ways from Sunday with the transplant is my only real concern.

Don't worry bout it G. You are in the best hands possible. Sir Skelly is a master grower imo. I'm lucky to have him chime in my grow when he did.

I planted in eventual pot but it might not be the best method for new growers. It greatly increases chances of overwatering cos the pot is so big and you don't get a good feel of its dryness, unlike smaller containers. Ive seen quite a few overwatering here on AFN and it always seem to be newbies, like myself. So don't sweat it. You might end up doing this for each grow.

Looks like you'll be doing great!

Thanks, Eq. Ya, I was bummin earlier, she has since already picked herself up and is spreading out and standing tall. Oh, man. I am allover this water thing. @greengrassgrow gave me a great idea last night. I'll weigh my pots before I run them off before the transplant and weigh them heavy giving me an idea when they are are getting thirsty. I'll weigh them again each time before watering and that should give me a general idea of my root-mass weight. I'll prep the pots tomorrow and then let them sit 24 hours before I drop'em. Going to do my best to tunnel their tap-line best I can.
