Grow Mediums The Coco Home Thread -- Calling ALL Coco Growers!!!

I have been using the G.O. Go Box on my coco grow. It does include cal/mag though. I haven't used it at every feeding but close. I haven't used my pH meter once during this grow either. G.O. says not to use any pH up or down with this line.

any Canna Coco nute users who have found it necessary to ramp up the cal/mag.

No Alan not me... The AN pH perfect base nutes have all the Cal/Mag one needs... Unless you are using leds... now that's a different story altogether...

That's great to know Turtle! Thanks for sharing!

I know you guys think AN is hype and the pH perfect are bullshit but I have used them for over a year now and with no added Cal/mag and never owned a pH meter and still don't. I've changed grow mediums twice in the process with no problems at all except for me under feeding. Now that right there speaks volumes to me. And after all that I have no problem paying for something that IS as described. And they aren't any more expensive than Fox Farms, botanicare, or any others really.

Just my two cents...

Nice. No meter and no supplement of cal/mag.

Better to underfeed. I wasn't thinking and feed at 1/2+, rather than, 1/4 on first feeds. Slight burn, more so, on small pots.

The only thing I did wrong (with feeding) was I didn't give it the initial soaking when sowing the beans... That made them grow incredibly slow... Once I started feeding at 6 days they got bigger and bigger rather quick! Never saw that kind of growth in ferted soil. Hot or barely Hot. So, when they drop the AN pH perfect Coco line of base nutes I'm sure I'll be switching... Although I do love what I'm seeing right now with the pH perfect Grow A/B... When I first got the Base Nutes I was using Cal/Mag and they got spotted up real bad and I thought I needed to give more and they responded even more negatively so I cut it out altogether... Then I had a few other seasoned AN users point out that with the pH perfect nute line, it already has enough Cal/Mag in the base nutes you don't need to add more. Like I said unless you use LED Lighting... Then you would need it because that type of lighting pulls more Cal.Mag out of your plant so you have to supplement. But I use T5HOs and don't need to add the extra.

AN Team really does their homework and they are truly dialed into MJ. No doubt about it. Plus, they back their line 100%! If you don't like it, you get your money back, no questions asked. It's on every single bottle. But, honestly it's fool proof. I don't own a pH/EC meter... From what I was told here that was going to be damn near impossible to pull off Coco with no meter at all. Well, I'm 35 days from sow into it and if you look at my girls right now I'd say I'm not going to have to buy one at all... 4 Autos and 4 Photos. I think I'm getting my money's worth. But, everyone is different and likes different things. Me, I don't care what it costs if it's going to pay off even more in the end. And I don't have to stress about feedings. I don't know about you all but I don't mind paying a bit extra for piece of mind. Also, I agree the names are nutty for some of them but they have so many products I guess it's their way of know which is which.

:smokebuds:

Also, I don't care for their Over Drive Bloom Booster personally. After comparing it to Atami Bloombastic (you wanna talk about EXPENSIVE! It's like nearly $30 for a 250ml bottle!!) there was no comparison. Bloombastic BLEW Over drive AWAY by leaps and bounds. So, yes now thinking more on it some of their products could fall into the "Hype" column. But, I would not grow without their pH perfect base nutes, Sensizym, Voodoo Juice, Bud Candy, or Bud Ignitor. That will be my arsenal for grows to come me thinks!! :stir:

I did not know Led caused CalMag problems... so thats why I had so much trouble last time. I managed a nice result but had Calcium defi. all through my grow.
How much CalMag would you guys recommend then when using LED, Canna A&B and rainwater in Coco. My rainwater is comparable to R/O water, EC is only 0.08
The CalMag I have is the TNC CalMag (veg) and Canna Calcium & Magnesium mononutrients (flower).

I use heated water 1 tsp per gallon of molasses and 1tsp of Epsom salt .or i use GH cal/mag+ if im lazy..but its so HOT you will need to ph down it unless its used in a good TLO soil.stylez rasta smoke

Hey Revert! It's not that it causes problems so to speak... it's that it draws way more of calcium and magnesium out of the plant itself. It's the way leds run... I'll ask around to my LED buddies as I don't use them so I wouldn't know exactly what to tell you. Doobie gives a great tip there!

Good deal.

I notice Canna nutes assume an ec of zero when adding their coco nutes. They do not list any of the micro nutes on the label, however, the label does mention a mag. source. I am using all the nutes and supplements. Turn key deal like AN. With the exception of having to adjust nutes down for the autos.

Will have to watch. I can see how one could misinterpret cal/mag issues. I'll observe and report. Could be same situation you dealt with.

Thank you guys. I'll add some molasses next time as well. Last time I used the CalMag to raise my EC to about 0.4/0.5 then added the base nutrients.
It went well, except for the Calcium deficiencies. Must have been the LED. Got 5+ oz of a auto NL so I am really happy with the Coco :D
Would you recommend using some liquid silicon as well? I hear this stuff is great to strengthen the plant.

Hello again!

Yes revert Botanicare Silica Blast is a very good product and you get enough to last for many many grows... i use it myself. Check out WWW.thehydrosource.com. always free shipping on nutes.
