Grow Mediums The Coco Home Thread -- Calling ALL Coco Growers!!!

God!! I bought biobizz to try organic, and I severely regret it. While the nutes are great, the medium does not play well at all with airpots. Regular pots maybe...

I know this sounds horrible, but I almost feel like chopping then and starting over with coco. At least 50% of watering runs off... It's a royal pain in the butt to feed them!!

On another note, so far biobizz nutes seem to work just fine in coco. Biobizz themselves advise against it, but its going spot in and flowering fine! Especially my AutoXtreme

Dude, put some panty hose around the pot....it will make the coco and water stay in better...

Firts put in some extra coco in the holes from outside, then put on panty hose....

Truu and dex et al.

What are your thoughts on using lets say, eg. - 2 gallon smart bags or dirt bags.

If fine. Would you line bottom with a good inch or two of hydrotron.

When damp, the outside bottom portion of the bags tend to form mold, if not, laying on a flat surface.

Wonder if adding the hydrotrons in the closed fabric would promote root problems.

Take a look at this inexpensive timer drip system.

I would'nt say adding an inch of clay balls would promote root probs if anything would help promote air down below Alan also if there sitting in water that would'nt be that good but dont use these mate :peace:

Alan I've been lining the bottom of all my pots with clay balls(not sure what brand). It really helps with drainage....especially with grow bags. They tend to clog up on me and the clay ball they won't clog.

In my next grow I will be putting hydroton at the bottom of my pots. It will allow a place for the roots to bunch up and breathe as well as a place to soak up some nutrients real fast.

Like I always say if you want the best results treat it like hydro.

Alan great drip timer, I'm gonna check into it.

Notice the hydroton at the bottom...that is if you can see past all those roots!!

Truu/Omnious. What a root mass. Incredible. That is evidence of your feeding systems. I have never seen anything like it. Thanks dex and Romeo.

Right, that is a clever and simple drip system. So many ways of using it and making adjustment on the spot. Good price. I will try it.

So, I will try both 2 gl. sq plastic buckets and the cloth smart bag/dirt bag with Hydor on bottom for drainage.

Cheers.

Nice read..i just got some co co..has anyone used sea grow with coco?I have my 2 32oz cups one with TLO/coco 50/50 other with coco.first run with it for a test.

Alan drip systems are the best when it comes to coco IMO. Its really a simple DIY if you're a low budget grower like my self. I can give you a simple design and material plan if you'd like. :smokebuds:

Doobie, they should be fine if you hand water. I wouldn't use them in a reservoir type situation. Have no experience with that brand but I would imagine they would do just fine. :pass:
