That's exactly what I was getting at. Sounded like you was watering on a hempy schedule. With the addition of verm you have moved to soiless and need way less water.
The chainsaw file method is very easy to do and to stuff up
Get a seed and hold it between thumb and forefinger so that you can see the side of the seed, now get a file (round is best) and very gently file the edge of the seed. (Do not file the point or end of the seed, only the side)
Once you see black you must stop or you will be filing the little baby in there
Hey CDC and realcarlos it is funny that you mention my watering as that is currently in testing, several of my plants have been moved to a once every two day flood cycle, they seem to be doing better with the PH than the others
I may move everything over to a once every two days flood.
Hi Stunted, I have been practicing the chain saw file technique on some bag seed before my new seeds get here. Little hard for me to hold being i dont have much feeling in my fingers. What do you/anyone think about this kind of technique>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjD1NCBmc8Y
Reason i ask is because you said "Do not file the point or end of the seed" and as you can see the seed will get hit on all sides & top to bottom like this

Good video and you should give it a try, there is a thread here somewhere that has info like that in it, I think it was using a matchbox
As for not filing the ends, well there is a very big difference between fine sandpaper and a chainsaw file. With the sand paper you are not removing much at all as can be seen at the end of the youtube vid, with a chainsaw file I could get 1/3 the way through the seed with one stroke.
If you file the ends too far (and that's not a lot) then you will be filing what will be the taproot.....
Finished a flood an hour ago and things are not looking good.
Nearly all the new sprouts show twisted leaves which to me is the PH being way off, and I have never seen it before in plants so young (day 4)
All 7 females now show twisted leaves and funny looking growth as well.
I am starting to think my meter is ratshit and hopefully I can borrow another in a day or two....
Mixing nutes for this mornings flood my PH meter read 5.8, I got my PH test drops out and tested with them, the resulting color indicates a PH of around 7ish.....
Also my PH meter was calibrated 4 days ago using 7.0PH buffer and two days ago it was done again with 4.0
So it will be interesting to see what lives and what is stunted...if the sprouts dont show improvement in a couple of days I may pull them all and start over but that will them put me ten days behind.
I managed to borrow another PH meter and according to it my meter was off by .4 (high) at 5.8.
So I have ordered another PH meter and calibration fluid and also 400 PH test strips, maybe that will help.
At the moment everything is still alive but a couple of the little ones are really struggling, also one of my females (day 31) looks like its growing balls...getting ready to rip it once confirmed (a day or two).
I have a lot to catch up with here so you will need to wait a day or to for more info and pics.
