New Grower Start up (11/6/22)

Photo flower day 5 (45 of entire grow)
  • So came home from work to more explosive growth. Had to defoliate to relieve some of the lower branches from stress.

All the leaves around the outside of the bottom of the canopy were completely flat up against the edges of the tent. Some were completely twisted and folded up so I got rifld of what it could and kinda bonzai'd my plants in a way that made them so they werent so smashed into the sides and door.

This is after a bit on the watermelon had to step back and see of it made a difference and no. So I kept going

    20221222_074622.jpg

The only plant I didnt touch was the auto. Now that its really starting to slow down on the stretch and starting to pack on buds Im trying to stress that one out the least.

    20221222_074507.jpg

This is the watermelon zkittles. Not the best job in the world but 70% of the defoliation was this plant if that says anything. Its still rubbing up agains the door and left side wall a bit but the other plants have more room and access to light now.

    20221222_074448.jpg

This is my taller peyote critical. Looks a little barron from underneath but its got a decent canopy. I decided to chop on this one a bit because some leaves had windburn from the passive vent over there.
Lung room and tent are actually way different. Basement is about 7 or 8 degrees hotter and around 62% humidity max. The tent us staying in the low 70s and the rh in the low to high 40s. But the leaves by that passive vent were tacoing downwards a bit and clawing down so I took some off to allow the air to flow thru that plant easier.

    20221222_074450.jpg

This is my little squat peyote, which I should say is now my more favorable one. Its a little beast and its only about 2-3 inches shorter than its sister now ao its catching up. I trimmed a couple leaves on the inside and around the outside so it wasn't pressing into the granite runtz as much.

Now they all fit a little better and hopefully the will start stretching up and stop growing outward lol.

Day 7 of photo flower 47 of grow
  • So did a lot in the tent today, or what felt like a lot.

Plants needed watering again, and have now reached a stage where they are consuming different levels of water. Also for some reason even though both passive vents are open the left side pots are drying out more, but they are bigger. The granite is guzzling water. Pretty much daily watering that one now.

All 4 got a full flower feed, the granite has had 2 full plain watering since her last feed and the others have had one but I decided to see what 2 feeds in a week will do to them. Almost out of water too.

Cold snap here has dried the air to a bitter crisp. Rh in the dead center of my auto was a staggering 25% average around the tent was 27%. Turned the thermostat for the house down to 69 so it runs less often. Also turned my humidifier back on and have it pumping directly into the tent. The watering has help raise the humidity a bit too. Right now its up to 37% but I doubt it will get much higher.

Also was able to train the branches down a bit more. Kind of a catch 22. As the tent is packed and the plants are already tight on horizontal space. But training some down move things in a way that the now overlap almost like a puzzle. Still brushed up against eachother but it seems better.

I also rotated the granite 180 to put the side thats trained flat like the wall it was againt, is now giving my bigger peyote a little more room.

Also pistils at the nodes on the peyotes are really coming in but the watermelon is a slow starter I guess. Still looks pretty much like preflowers. Very small white hairs on pretty much every node. But the peyotes definitely look like they are moving along faster.

starting to get its first coat of trichomes finally. Plant doing extremely well. If you got these seeds its well worth the grow. Very hearty and low maintenance.

the peyotes have started stretching, and both have multiple pistils coming out of calyxs that are visible now and most nodes have at least 1 large visible pistil

This one is also REALLY stretching it is almost the tallest plant now. 28 inches tall at the beginning. Shes gonna be big. The granite is 30" exactly. Shes probably not gonna get much taller either.

Photo flower day 10, day 50 of grow
  • So 50 days in on the auto. Not sure how much is left. Im guessing 20-30 days. Buds are really starting to pack on and space between nodes is really starting to vanish. So I can say with certainty the stretch is over and its full on bulking time now. Coat of trichomes really coming in now. Also bracts lower on the plant are completely covered.

As for the other 3 girls the stretch has definitely set in. Watermelon zkittles is the same height as the granite runtz. Tall peyote is really stretching. And the short one, though obviously the smallest, is qt least 2 times the size it was 2 weeks ago

    Getting too crowded

Current conditions of tent. I know the vpd says its high but dont even bother with that. Never took the actual leaf temp. Probe is in the top 3rd of the granite.

Trying to get an accurate humidity reading in there so I am aware of any bud rot or mildew but with the air so dry I dont think I have anything to worry about

Flower day 11, 51 of auto
  • Watered on early monday morning, pretty much right after the lights came on.

    About a gallon to each.

Had to water the granite runtz, expectedly, but the tall peyote REALLY needed it and of course the watermelon zkittles needed it as well. She was BONE dry. Gave both a gallon of plain water again today, and the smaller one I topped off with 1/4 gallon, pot was still kinda heafty, just wanted to use the remainder of the open gallon I had.

Next watering will be a full dose feed for all of them as well. Ive noticed some of the newer leaves on the lower branches on all 3 photos are pretty yellow/green and the fully formed leaves around them arent getting any darker, may be because of lack of light at the bottom of the canopy but Id rather be safe than sorry. Also I think the granite could handle a full feed now.

One thing I questioned today is if the tent is gonna big enough for for the watermelon. Right now, 11 days into flower and she has already started creeping up. She is 31 inches tall at her tallest branch. She was about 26 inches at the start of flower. So 5 inches in 11 days....she has at most 25 inches till shes in the danger zone for light intensity and 30 inches from physically touching the light.

My light is at the very top of the photo. Its approximately 2 inches from the highest it can be. Exhaust filter is the only thing keeping it from being maxed.
    20221228_074537.jpg

Even though the granite is a sativa dom auto. If it gives me any clue to how much a basically 50/50 hybrid will be. The watermelon will eat up 75% of that space easy. Shes been leaning more towards the sativa side on traits. Good amount of spacing between nodes, thinner leaves than the 2 other indica dom strains Ive grown so far.

Im hoping to god the granite is done long before the 3 photos start packing on weight. i have 0 strain info, so if anyone reads this and knows where to find mutant genetics granite runtz run time that would be awsome.

I may get a tent and exhaust kit for drying purposes then later on buy a light and convert it into my photo tent. Im really liking my experience with autos so far but I love photos. I also wanna get into breeding and making my own strains so getting a bigger tent within the next month seems like the way to go

  • So I measured the distance between the watermelon and light again today and Im not joking when I say Im down to 23-24 inches left. So another 2 inches of growth in 24 hours. Took a little risk hanging the tape measure but it worked.

Also I noticed the granite is still getting bigger as well. Her and the watermelon are neck and neck.

Forgot to take pics but pistils are popping up all over the watermelon zkittles as well now. So shes finally getting in the full swing.

    Photo flower day 14.
  • Today is the 2 week mark on the photo girls, and day 54 of the auto.

Watered the photo girls today. Did the auto yesterday. The photos got the week 7 or the 2nd week flowering feed and I cant really figure out where the auto is exactly so I just put her a week ahead. Also a full feed.

Decided to defoliate a litte this week and will do the rest next week but it was starting to get crowded. Also got rid of the lowest 2 branches on the watermelon. They were also the 1st 2 and oldest but they never kept up with the canopy so I said bye bye. Also the growth at the top was yellow and droopy.

Didnt take many pics. But overall I think things are looking good. Measured the watermelons distance from the light and in the last 2 days she hasnt growm much. About 2 inches. The feed might change that but I still have about 2.5 ft in space before she hits the light. Plan on super cropping the tallest branches when they are within 15 inches.

    Flower day 15
  • Happy new year.

Tent is still looking good. Had some dead leaves to pull on the granite. Lowest leaves, only about one or 2. They were ready to come off, as soon as I touched them they fell.

Granite is getting more and more incredible day by day. All the tops exposed to light and even some shaded ones are rock solid, and sticky as hell and the smell is skunky and gassy and sweet all at the same time.

The rest of the tent is looking good too. Honestly I thought Id open the tent up to some massive growth on the 3 photos but from the looks of the tops they are starting to really spit pistils out like they are focusing more on bud production than stretching right now which is awesome. They grew but only about an inch which is 1/3-1/2 the height it was putting on daily over the past week or so.

    Update
  • Got my digital microscope today and played around with it.

Lemme tell you, do not think these things are just point focus and shoot because it takes forever to line up a decent shot. Also requires a stand or base with a flexable arm thats pretty sturdy. This is the best shot I could get today, took about an hour to get, and was hair pullingly frustrating to get.

    Flowering day 17
  • Had to water today.

The shorter peyote isnt really drinking the water up much anymore but otherwise shes completely fine. Put her and the granite runtz on some risers so they werent so shaded. Took to it well so far.

Gave each besides the smaller peyote a gallon of plain water today. Smaller one got 2/3s. Till they were all about equal weight. Little runoff with each but was mostly wicked up by the time is was done.

Watermelon zkittles is now about 1/4 of the way up the bottom of my tool pouch in my tent. The top of it is about 3/4 of the height of my tent.
    20230103_074017.jpg

This pic is the only one I took of the whole tent today. As you can see they are packed tighter than sardines.

The watermelon is the one outside. She had a bunch of pistils at the growth chute on all the tops and they are giving off a faint artifical watermelon scent to them. You really gotta get up close though.

Peyotes are visually as far along as the watermelon. No real scent to anything yet. They are both really reaching for the light but now it looks like maybe they will start showing their first real buds soon, along with the watermelon.

Heres some pics of the granites colas and the tops of all the others
