Some help with drying/curing

Putting buds in a paper bag. Folding the top to try to seal it so it's air tight as you can get it. Then leave it for a day to 2 days. The paper bag will help pull the moisture from the center of the buds outwards evenly drying the buds. After the buds are dry there is still moisture inside you want to get out. Too much moisture equals hay or even worse moldy weed or powder mildew if you leave too much moisture in the buds and then seal them in a jar.
Ok. So if you’re going to just dry in bags from harvest how many days might it take to get them where you want them?

Or you can put your buds in a big like 27 gallon tote. Seal for 12 hours and then leave off for 12 hours. Do this for several days will achieve the same as the paper bags. But paper bags are easier and no need to burp.

I never dry in bags. Whole plant hang slows it down. No trimming any leafs will slow the dry down also. Dry til stems snap and buds break off. Then you trim, then you sweat your buds then cure them

I can’t just hang plants. Within 72 hours they’re over dried here. Rh is 30 right now.

Same here. I've got a big auto (5' tall, dozens of stems) ready to come down. The RH here is <10% during the day so I'll have to go with cutting the stems so they fit in paper bags. That will slow down the drying process because the bag will tend to keep the moisture in. I've got a couple of humidifiers, too, just in case things are going to far, too fast.

How about you - the small humidifiers are pretty reasonable. I'd guess you can get one for as little as $20. I haven't ready up thread so sorry if it's been asked but what about drying in a small(er/ish) room?

I pulled mine out of the box because I was afraid of mold. Valid to as the plant had water dripping off of it. Put it in bags and it already smells like hay. Idk what to do. These buds are gonna be beautiful but the smell/taste isn’t gonna be there. Makes me so sad because this was the best smelling plant I’ve ever smelled.

You mean paper bags? You should be able to open the bags a little until the RH drops. Do you have a 10 pack of cheap hygrometers? Sprinkle them in your bags until you get a sense for how dry "the crop" is.

I chopped a smaller plant over the course of the past few weeks. They're in Grove bags but the RH is funky in a few of them so I've had to leave them open for a few hours to get the RH to fall. It hasn't been smooth sailing - I left one open too long today (distracted by work!) and the RH was down to 50. All of this stuff takes practice.

I posted a pic of the box. Has wooden rods through it and a hygrometer. Rh never really went higher than 50 except one day. But I opened the box just to see what was going on and there was so much humidity there was water dripping off the plant. Took it out and put it in paper bags and it still seems really slow to dry. And when I opened one of the bags all I smelled was hay.

OK, thanks. I remember the box photo.

I think that's the chlorophyll coming off so that smell should diminish. Don't lose hope! The curing process takes a fair amount of time. If you've got RH back under control, then your back on track. You might not end up with the killer smell that you wanted but you will still have a smokable harvest of weed that you grew.

All of my weed has been smokeable. Better than anything I’ve got from the dispo. But, the smell isn’t there. And it’s disheartening because I’m growing some badass plants that look and smell amazing.
