Some help with drying/curing

i have a good size drying room that I can keep at 60f and 60rh……but I have this plant that won’t finish, it’s a long story and I hope it will eventually….but I messed up and defoliated almost every leaf. All the big fan leaves are gone and the stress that ensued killed many of the smaller fans.
So basically I have some bud kabobs….and I imagine it will dry very very fast. I was thinking the paper bag process may work to slow down the dry. Maybe hang for a day or two and brown bag after that.
Whatta ya think?
I’m trying to stay positive….at least it’ll be a breeze to trim…

I would bag it right away. I had one recently that was about the same wh we re she basically had no fan leaves. I hung it thinking like you and it crisped up after a day. Total waste of some delicious smelling Jack Here. Paper bags all the way from now on for me.

What is your process? Lay them flat on the bottom with the top folded? Mix them around daily? How long would u think they’d need to sit in the bag? And straight from there to the jar?
Sorry so many questions….I just know this step can make or break your entire grow.

I think straight into the bag will work fine. Straight to the jar from there. They make huge paper bags for lawn work that are really thick too. I think I will buy some and just use bags from now on. Pretty happy with the smell on the GSC. My moisture meter came and it’s still a little on the damp side so I’ll let the lid sit off for 30 a day as suggested to try and get it down under 15. Once it is I’ll probably just let the jar sit for a few weeks.

Best advice I’ve received lol. Trimming the GSC took me almost 2 hours and still did a half ass job. I was rushing because it smelled so good and I wanted to get it jarred fast. It was super sticky though and the smell. Amazing. I filled a half gallon jar almost to the top. Pretty excited about that. If the smell stays, even though they’re not the prettiest buds I call it a win.
Great news! I’m really glad to see that things turned out so well.

Yes, I cut the fan leaves off and trim the buds up fairly cleanly into golfball to fist sizes buds and line the bag with a layer. Fold the top of the bag over 3 or 4 times to close them up. I string some lines up in the tent and hang the bags on the line so they don't sit on the cold floor. Leave them for 2 or 3 days and just poke the bottom of the bag to move the buds around. Check them for dryness after a couple days. I tried Grove bags for the first time and I'm sold.

so you move them to jar or grove bags after just a few days in the paper bag?? i guess it depends on how dry they are….but are u looking for a snap but no break stem at that point?
One last thing, what would be the ideal temp/humidity to have the bags stored while they’re drying? And do you open the bad at all daily?
Im gonna need to do it this way. My one plant that’s the most bare of any leaves feels kinda dry to the touch….and it’s still growing. I’m sure it’s plenty moist still inside, but it isn’t gonna take long for it to crisp up.
man I really appreciate your help. I hate to grow these plants for what seems like forever and then end up with hay or even worse, dried out hay. Here are colas from the 3 plants…,,2 are real close but one (the worst one) just won’t freakin finish…..hairs won’t recede, keeps spitting out new pistils.
And they are all supposed to be the same strain….I understand pheno difference but this is extreme.
Any other tips I’d appreciate….and thank u again.

FWIW after 24 hours in the paper bag I start jar testing with a hygrometer until I get a consistent 63-65% RH and then into grove bags. IMHO, YMMV, etc.

This was my first time using the bags and I'm a believer. I bagged after 11 days.

I try not to open the bag because it messes with the Temps and humidity in the bag but I admit, I always get nervous and peak in the bag, reach in and mix the buds around. I just keep the bags in the tent but if out somewhere else, just try to minimize the extreme if you can. Either way, it's better than just letting them turn to dust.

I was never good with judging the snap affect so I went with a pin type, wood moisture meter this time and it helps with the guess work.

I don’t really know why or how but the bags work. The GSC is still smelling really good a few days later. They were still pretty wet when I pulled them out and jarred them but I’ve been opening the jar twice a day for a while and they’re drying a little more each day and the smell has stuck. I won’t dry my plants any other way moving forward. Luckily I have easy access to large amounts of paper bags lol

Another Fail
Look at how amazing these nugs look. Did a little test last night and it’s smooth on the throat and lungs.

Smells like hay. Again. Been curing for almost a week and I’d say it really doesn’t have a smell, but the little bit of smell it has is more hay than weed.

It went straight into paper bags then into the refrigerator for 10 days. Clean trimmed then into a paper bag to get them down to 62% where they’re still sitting. No smell. Should I just leave them sitting in the jar with a 62 boveda and see if the smell comes around?
