Grow Mediums Setting Up Your Auto Pots

Question about auto pots. I was thinking about buying a 4 pot auto system and was wondering do I have to fill up all 4 of them in order for it to work properly or can I just use 3 if I wanted to with coco? Say if I didn't have room for all 4 and only wanted to run 3 would it still work or would the 4th one overfill with water? Can I disconnected the 4th one? Thanks and happy growing.

You can run 3 just don't add the 4th one... These kits come with an on and off valve that you can install at the end of the tubing just for that purpose

You can run just one, etc. Easiest way is to get some goof plugs ( used in drip systems to terminate drip lines ). Or, you can run a single line of tubing from the res to the pot. I even plant to change my res by adding three more lines and filters to then run an individual line to each pot. that way, if you do happen to get a clogged line, its to one pot only. All those little fittings in the lines to divide the flow are the places where clogs can develop. You can use spring clips to pinch of lines to unused pots also, I've done that. No, they won't over fill.

I used valves for each pot and did away with them. I don't recommend them, they clog easily unless your running just water for an organic grow

Hi, if I’m growing in soil and using autopots what should i set my ph to? I have been setting it always between 6.7 and 7 but my friend says he sets his to 6.2 as the soil buffers the ph? (He uses autopots also)
Grateful for any opinions, thanks

I run my soil PH at 6.5 the range I try to maintain for my water or solution is 6.45 to 6.55 running low PH is not needed nor has any value.

How do I know when my plants have a well established roots? Why does everyone say it like we all have x-ray visions and can see the roots inside the soil. What do i lift up the plant by the main stalk and yank it out of the ground to see how far the roots have gone? I hand watered my plants for 12 days and my réservoir water level still doesn't go down. Maybe i should yank it out of the soil to see if they are established or not

When the canopy is as wide as the pot the roots have reached the bottom of the pot and are well established. This holds true also for transplanting. as soon as the leaves are as wide as the pot, transplant, You'll find roots to the bottom and little to no root circling.

oh no, dont do that.
best to turn off the res for now. give them a bit more time.
a general rule of thumb for me, i turn on the res when the leafs reach past the pot. sometimes i give it about a week after that

quicker to the draw.

although since i am here browsing around.
i recently switched back to coco since i had some serious root rot on 3 plants in a row, like the worst smelling rot ever.
very likely it was shit in the soil soaking that started it, not the bottom feeding.
is there anything you do to help prevent this? or is this more a product of fox farms?
