Hey guys, I had a very strange encounter this afternoon with my postal worker which leads me to believe that I should shut everything down. I may be over reacting, but I may not. I figure its worth atleast putting out there, because I have noticed an alarming trend recently. If you havent noticed, since the beginning of june there has been a HUGE increase in the number of seeds being confiscated. You can spot one of those attitude packages from a mile away, and it appears that customs is onto them. So today, I got a package from "Overseas". The post man hands me the package, and as I am about to sign for it he says, "So, you are (Insert Name)?"... I thought this was particularly strange, considering the fact that I have had a LOT of orders coming in recently for grow equipment. I looked at him as if I didn't hear him. "So you are, (Insert Name), right? This is where you live?" Why the fuck is this guy asking that question? I have had a bunch of packages delivered here in the last few months.. Surely that isn't a question that needs to be asked. Also it is worth noting, that I did not recognize this postal worker. Something wasn't quite right. He goes on to say that this is a package for overseas, and continues to egg me to admit that I am the name, and this is my address, as he points to the slip. What the fuck is going on here? I say that I was expecting a package, but surely not something from overseas. I was expecting a larger package. So he says he is sure that is it, but he goes back to his truck to check anyway. I continue to prod him because he seems like he is up to no good, and the more he speaks the more certain I am that something isnt right. So as he goes back to his truck, he says "No, theres no other packages here. You have been getting alot of packages sent to you lately, though." At this point I knew he knew something. The vast majority of my packages had been delivered by UPS, not USPS. Also if he was aware of the amount of packages I had been recieving, why was he constantly questioning my name, address, and whether or not I ordered this package? I may be overreacting, but I feel like I need to tear everything down. I don't know if this was just some rogue postal worker who had been curiously going through my packages, or if somehow LEO is onto it? It genuinely felt as if the second this fucker drove away, a swarm of fat pigs with their dicks as hard as a rock were going to storm down my driveway. I would be careful with seed ordering lately, this trend is becoming alarming. Just from reading forums the rate of seeds being confiscated is unprecidented. It may be worthwhile to lay low for a while.

most probably you are fine. having said that, taking everything down for a while isnt a bad idea depending on how easy that would be. why risk it and screw up your life over some plants?

Trust your instincts. Get it the hell outta the house. I recently ordered from another company but was freaking until they got here. I only grow tiny amounts for my own use. It sucks that we have to live under constant fear for something that is legal in two states now...

I have a decent amount of plants up, I'm deciding if I should tear it all down, or leave one or two up? I mean if they come storming through the door, I wonder if there is any leniancy between 3 plants and 9? I really want to keep two or three up, but It almost seems like an all or nothing type of thing. I'm out of meds, and who knows how long I would have to lay low for anyway? Cut them all down and lay low, or leave them all up and hope for the best.

This fucking blows.

Was there any tampering evident on the package? Also, did you order many strains or just a few? Trying to see if they would think you were worth their while. I would also be on the lookout for that mail man. If you see him again in your area delivering mail than I wouldn't worry at all about it.

It was difficult to tell. Although, it was a small box when im nearly certain it came in a bag type of envelope previously. My mind was racing so I'm not sure, I was deciding whether or not to act sketchy and decline it after starting to sign lol.

What do they need to get a warrant? Do you know?

I'm considering staying the course, possibly with just 1 or 2 of my plants though. I use for strictly personal use. Is suspicion enough?

Skatterbrayne- For what it's worth, I had an overseas pkg. delivered as well, and the USPS person did need a signature of the person addressed to, because often it's sent certified mail (all the seeds I've ordered have come through USPS); you're right about the Attitude seed intercepts, (is their packaging that glaring? no f*cking wonder! -mine was in a simple paper/bubble envelope, but the seeds were in their full company retail package), but what that means downstream is all over the map as far as significance goes, state to state, etc.... unless you order 200 seeds, one has to ask just how much interest, time and manpower the various agencies have to chase down and investigate, build a case, etc., on the 1000's of people getting seeds every month (?)... so, is there safety in #'s? probably... also, you might think the postal guy, if he was 'in on it' wouldn't be so glib about his comments if there was a need to keep you in the dark about a possible investigation (i.e., the comment about the # of packages sent to you lately), to say nothing of how suspicious it would be to have a new guy show up just for this,... it's not uncommon for an occasional switch in carriers... LOL! paranoia can serve us well, sometimes, but your balking and awkward reactions did you no favors,...i.e., not answering to who you are, nervous looks, quizzing him,... What's true in Nature holds true for us 'peoples'- the more you act like a victim, the more likely you will become one! He was probably wondering what this guy was so twitchy about; you must be careful about giving the jig up yourself, mate, by such behavior! Act like it's all good, because acting worried certainly won't change the outcome IF there was trouble headed your way.... Also, I think companies use UPS or others, for larger packages because of better logistics and tracking vs. the overwhelmed, half-busted USPS, even if USPS is less expensive, but then, commercial rates for businesses are often competitive...

-- this depends on where you live, and again, you're clearly not running a Cartel grow operation, or commercial, or WTF ever... 1, 3, 9, I doubt it matters with such low numbers; do you know what the laws are in your area? Look them up! peace of mind or no, ignorance will never serve you either way... Try hard to clear your head, ignore the panic button mashers here, look up the local laws, and weigh things up.... easier said than done, I know, but keep what I said in mind about your interpretation of the postal guy encounter... :peace:

Look up the marijuana laws in your state and decide from there.

http://norml.org/laws

In my state 10 or less plants is a class e felony, the lowest of felonies. They will count seedlings, clones and all.

They have to confirm it's you when they deliver packages sometimes. He's in the shipping business and I'm willing to bet "you've been getting a lot of packages" is his equivalent of "Nice weather we're having today." The USPS is not the DEA of CIA, they're over worked, under paid civil servants. Cops don't do "undercover operations" for small timers, so unless you've gutted the whole house and turned it into a flowering factory I wouldn't sweat too hard.

Were you stoned when this happened? I get super paranoid for no good reason every now and then, comes with the territory.

I'm not saying they're not out to get us, just saying keep a cool head and think about it rationally.

Yeah I normally do play it cool, but something about this was rubbing me the wrong way and I had no clue how to get out of it otherwise.

The thing that rubbed me the wrong way about his mentioning that I have been recieving alot of packages, was that before that he had been asking me if I am the name, and if this is my address. You would think if he remembered my packages, he wouldnt be grilling like that.. It was strange.

I was sober, and it was still rubbing me the wrong way. I analyze everything though, its just the way I am. I get really strong intuition when something feels out of place though, and I tend to go with my gut.

In my state it appears that under 10 plants carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 3 years. Is this only if it goes to trial? I'm assuming that you can get a plea of a reduced sentence?

Since I denied the package can they actually have anything on me? I mean, I dont dispose of any material outside, nor do I sell. So I guess my question is, that if I continue could they actually get a warrant to search my home? What exactly is required for them to get a warrant in a situation like this?

This blows lol
