Live Stoner Chat Hop Latent Viroid (HLVd)

Yes @Mossy
One guy in Germany wanted to use some cuts from the US for breeding. After a test he put all plants in the bin. The cuts and some of the offspring seeds was infected.

Pssht..... :pass: .. I was kinda having a fancy for a photoperiod....:watering:.... guess I'm not bothering now..I ain't mucking up 40 generations for a Whim.....

Well, when it didn't get that much of a response,

Yeah...I flew past it ...:headbang:...I was #stonedtotheBone :zen:....just checking it wasn't A different one...

Yes I got problems years ago with my chilli breeding and tobacco mosaic virus.

Next moth I got a meeting with a hope farmer and beer brewer. He knows much about the virus maybe I can get a bit inside from their work and share it.
That should provide some valid information!

Viroids are opportunistic infections, generally need the right or even ideal conditions to spread and establish their infection, and small time tent growers growing from seeds (most of what we see on AFN) don't have these risk factors.

I presume viroids are very serious ongoing problems for the legal commercial grows. These seem to be where all the hype is centered. These presumably have essentially perfect conditions for viroid spread within the facility, including using mother plants, cuttings, cloning, etc., facility-wide interconnected and likely even recycled water supplies, have poor sanitation/hygiene, workers don't wear clean disposable (or freshly washed) outer clothing, they likely don't test and don't really want to know if their crops are infected (the CEO, investors, consumers, regulators, etc. might get upset), etc.

I talked to some of the German influencers and grow supporters about the virus and I know they got it on their list.
I hope it's like other standards in Germany their are not much real breeders in Germany the most are seed resellers and it's a waste of time to teach them. It's more important that cuts that come across the boarder will be tested and don't find the way on the market.

@Antonio_DutchPassion what are your thoughts about the virus.
It's already here mate, you would be surprised about how many growers and breeders just buy clones from the states and grow for bud or cross breed them without checking anything. I know for a fact that this virus is already making its round in Europe as well.

One of the reasons I personally never work from clones from others, you really don't know what you are getting, only when you test everything properly, but really, do you think most of these guys bother? Nope, not at all...

Definitely a thing that will hit a lot of growers, unknowingly mostly..

For me and my crew we think exactly about taking a new clone in our rooms. The single test takes us 35€ and around 1-2 weeks to wait for the results and we need the space to hold them in quarantine. You can't have enough space lol

Where do you let them be tested?

Most of the things available are not super reliable yet, unfortunately.

Nope I don't unfortunately, been testing out some gear last year for home testing kits, male/female, possibly hlv, thc% etc. but none were reliable. Would be cool if someone can make something that is solid though

In case you find a good lab for private persons please let me know
