First time grower, I feel like I have come up with a pretty good equipment list from all of my research. Please let me in on your thoughts. I'm only buying a few things at a time due to the expense of it all so here is what I'm getting-

36"x20"x60" Clone T002 Tent from Gotham - Already purchased, should be here by the end of the week.

2012 240w Blackstar LED Flowering 3w - All my research points to this light, hopefully Tshirt will chime in on this one... From all I've read this should be enough light for my tent.

6" x 14" Carbon Air Filter Pro Combo 6" Inline Fan Exhaust FO21 - Is this overkill or is this right for my tent?

Question- Should I get another inline fan for air intake? Pretty sure I need one but a bit unclear...

As far as the rest of my list, that will come later. I'd like to concentrate on a few things at a time due to the overwhelming amount of stuff I do need. I feel like this is a good start for the thread.

Thanks AFN

your tent should have air vents by the bottom with flaps over them . Just running the exhaust fan will create negative pressure ( a good thing) . You don't NEED an inlet fan , but if you use one it should be 1/4 - 1/2 of the cfm of the exhaust , Much the same way PCs run their fans .

That Blackstar should do ok in that size tent . I was running 2 x 100watt (2 watt ) UFOs in the same size tent and they worked well.

You will like the black stars i have Six 240 watt. Yes you will need a fresh air intake, also make sure you get a PH meter if you don't already have. PH is essential to any grow. Knowing the PH can save you alot of time troubleshooting. Also you will need Soil and Nutes. I would suggest you use Fox Farm Trio for nutes.

a 6 inch carbon filter will work but yes it is over kill for that tent. My smaller tent is a 2 x 4 x 5 and i run two 240 watt black stars in there with a 4 inch carbon filter and a 6 inch fresh air intake. Check my grow log to see pictures of the tent

Good luck

You may find that one of the Blackstar 240s might not be enough. I'm running two of them in a 3' x 4' area and am finding that I may need to add a third. But one is enough to get you started. You can always add a second one later on it you want.

A 4" fan and filter is all you need for that space. That's all I use in the area I mentioned above and it does the job just fine. You might also consider putting in on a variable speed controller. I run mine on the lowest speed in the winter to keep heat in and at a higher speed in the summer. No real need for an intake fan. The exhaust fan will pull enough to keep good circulation going.

You will also need a small fan for air circulation inside the tent. Something like a desk top or clip on, 6 or 7", just to keep things moving and provide some air movement on the plants. That will help to strengthen the plant stalks and make them better able to handle the weight of the buds. Doesn't need to be anything fancy, something from WalMart would work fine.

Thanks for the input lyka. Yes a PH meter is on the list but I just wanted to cover some of the basic equipment first (not that a PH meter isn't basic). When I'm ready to buy some of the smaller items I will definitely ask for your all's input.

I'm only going to grow 3-5 plants so hopefully 1 240w LED will get me on my way for now. I have some home depot specials 4 x 42watt cfl's for some additional light if need be.
Yes a small oscillating fan is on the list as well and thanks for the input on the filter as well.
Piece by piece at this point so all the info is appreciated.

So I took a trip to the local hydro store today... Got to talking about lights and dude had some pretty harsh words on LED's. He said he doesn't even carry them. He was all about HPS lights. Now I'm second guessing the LED's I had picked out. Seems like HPS lights have a lot of paraphernalia that goes along with it when LEDs are just plug n play. Both systems are going to cost about the same so now I'm unsure. Help needed.

That's what i'm hearing from my supplier also. Not what i expected but that tends to be the case with this hobby period. After seeing people's results here i'm going to crack on with one and give them a try.. Want to get the most out of my 125/250 CFL's first. I'm not one to waste anything these days

Yeah, that LED thing can drive ya nuts, if you believe you have researched the issue then go with your gut and the universe will conspire to aid your efforts.

This is what i am considering to do, if i see an improvement from a single 300 in a half meter^2 space with one plant i will throw another in there and really go for it..

You're wise Rabbit - I like your optimism. I believe that the universe does indeed operate in this way... :peace:

The force is strong with this one
