New Grower Robwars 1st grow equipment list

The Rabbit is wise.
I'm going to research these HPS lights a bit further.
Running out of time though, seeds should arrive in a week or so.
I know I don't need my lights until the eggs hatch but I'd like for the tent to be complete b4 I move the girls in.

You have to keep in mind that the guy at the hydro store probably has never grown autos and is making recommendations to you based on his experience with photos. If I were growing photos, I wouldn't be using LEDs either, I'd be using HPS or T5s. But I'd also be growing in a bigger space so heat wouldn't be such an issue. HPS, even a 250 watt, which would be the minimum size needed for your tent, will generate lots of heat. HPS bulbs only produce about 15% usable light, compared to 95% for LEDs. The other 85% of it's energy is released as heat. I've done it both ways, HPS and LED. To me, LEDs and autos are a perfect match, especially for small areas like you are planning.

I believe this to be the case too Muddy, no disrespect to the fella, he is well informed and friendly, we happily chat for hours about stuff drinking tea and smoking a few doobs, but i don't need recommendations from photo growers - i have everything i need right here.. I will get some good results and reveal to him what he's missing out on..

This is where the pudding's at for me. You can't ignore these things especially when they have been clearly demonstrated already..

Muddy you're right. He deffinetly knew what I was growing but he didn't know about the autos. Nice store though with just about everything I need as far as soil, nutes and various other needs. Plus it's only a five minute drive. Thanks for calming me down guys. The universe is saying LED!!!

The early reports on LEDs were not good and if he hasn't kept up, he probably isn't aware of the advances that have been made in the last 12 - 18 months. But he sounds like a handy resource for your other needs. To me LEDs are the way to go for small grow areas. Worth it just not having to deal with the heat.
