Well figured I'd post some pics of my version of the air pot party cup... 4 LR2s in classic party cups upside down, bottom is quarter inch wire mesh. Once they take off they will be sitting on an mesh table, hopefully maxing out the spread of the roots before/if they circle the cup...

Pretty kewl idea. The one I see is that air pots hole patterns are in a diamond staggered pattern but I think you will be fine.

I would have spent more time with the solder gun, but it was so small a container I didn't figure it would make a difference, so poke poke poke... I figure all the roots needed was air to impede growth and a hole is a hole... Guess we'll see, I've never tried it on this small a scale...

I love the double tiered method, FD. If you win this thing, next time somebody's going to try stacking 3 or 4 5oz cups to max out that tap root.

Thanks Andy, it has proven for me time and time again. The results are what just boggle my mind and all it was is a little bit more soil.

I saw this and went damn.....:no: great idea on that one. makes it easier to get that screen on there and easy to water. I think bailer did this or something like this with two cups open end to open end and filled it.

Thanks infamous :smoke: I think that they are getting towards the 2 week mark or a little after i have to look back. Others in there are mothers.

Guess we'll see, I've never tried it on this small a scale...

best part about a live experiment Like Wiz said the thread has thousands of views. There is tons of creativity going on in here. Its different than most challenges, people are actually trying to find the best way to grow a plant on a small scale. best part is no one is clouning on the others method, i can see it now. each competitor watching the thread and seeing a nothers attempt to make a mod that will breaks records and think "why didnt i think of that?" I know Im doing it Best thing is the result, sure it will be wonderful to win but think of all the others you have taught to maximize what they have.

I have 5 babies (different strains) in cups that showed their heads on Monday and I'd be happy to participate. Sounds like fun.

Here is my method with the bottom removed

you can see where the roots are dyeing off and starting to put out the spine like roots. So far its working well see if it makes a defference.
