Dutch Passion Objective; Medical CBD | Dutch.P. | Ortega Indica | Night Queen | LED&CFL | Airpots | Coco

id keep the light a touch lower than that maybe 20" but im not an led expert 6" is massive difference with lights

they will grow 2x as fast when you feed them
ph at those range is not a massive issue but try and keep closer to optimal 5.8 .3 points either way should not be an issue

i start with my lights at 30" above the plants and let the plants adjust naturaly and grow towards it, if you hit them with to much to soon it will cause them to burn, it looks like the majority of uk growers who use coco also grow in the higher ph range, the range your using is for dwc, the best person to ask about ph range for coco is oh jay as he seems to have it down to a fine art

all the best

This is the method I layed out.

I have a 30L res sitting next to the tent, with a 6/L air pump to 02 the water a bit and quicken chloride evaporation. Recalibrated meters. My base tap water is pH 8.8 and EC 0.35
When first prepping the feed, I found pH balance to be maddening. 2 drops of pH(-) and boom, down to 2.5, then Liquid Silicon up, then down again...EC rises... ug!
It much more manageable with larger quantities. I can get the res at pH 5.5 and EC 0.4 stable after a day's fluctuation.

I then fill a 5L container adding (with a syringe) 1.9ml/L Canna A (let it rest for 30 minutes) + 1.9 Canna B (30 minutes rest) + 4ml/L Rhizo. After a bit of tweaking (slight pH and EC off)...

Gave them just under 500ml each. The coco is still quite moist, should let it dry out a bit. Hope its quick!

what is< base>thanks sj

base EC/ppm is what the tap water is straight from the tap
as some people have hard water this needs to be factored in as it adds ec but no nutrient
so if my tap water was 0.5 and i wanted to add 1.0 of nutrient that would take it up to 1.5 for example

Hey Groff,

Great looking set up and I hope this prooject goes well for you Subbed up!

Day 13 from seed...

So I fire up the CFL 5 minutes before lights on for better pictures. I must say, LED does really skew and enhance color tone. Whilst I'm not happy in the least with the yellowing in the Ortega's, it does seem far worse under the pink lighting.

In any case, I swapped place Ortega 1 vs Night Queen 1, and the Ortega has been under majority CFL light since yesterday. Under normal light, I don't think I would ever notice the burnt tips! The yellowing, sure, but it has grown since the pink pictures. 2 days ago I cannot guarantee I would have spotted it.

Ortega 1

Night Queen 1

Ortega 2 ... starting to show the same damn yellowing...

Night Queen 2

Purple Haze, still quite smaller compared to DP's seeds...

Night Queens are definitely growing the fastest.
So as it seems, the Ortega's are being a bit picky. Still feeding the same as in previous posts.

I'm finding it a little difficult to discern how moist/dry the coco is/should be. I don't want to overwater, so today I'm giving quite a smaller feed and see how it goes. I cleaned the run-off trays yesterday, and gave under 500ml feed each, and a little run off came out.

Man, was I surprised. 1/2 a liter and run off came out?! It contradicts everything I've seen, but I potted the toddlers straight into 10L pots and I'm not using high temp HID's...

Also, the humidifier I "invented" is not so effective, due to pronounced less convection heat evaporation. Anyway, 5L free evaporation every 3 or 4 days is better that zero. RH% swings between 50 and 80%.

Last night was the coldest so far, dropped down to 17ºC. Guess its time to fire up the ol' oil heater...

Anyways, any suggestions welcome on how to deal with the Ortega's. I've started foliar spray/feed today, with pH 5.8 + 5ml/L Formulex on all plants.

More soon!

Don't panic Groff... Your youngsters are looking ok.. You are doing well.. :wiz:

Keep it up bro.. :toke:

He Groffuwiwi, which buffer solution do you use to calibrate your ph-meter? I just got the same meter but have trouble to calibrate it with the solution it comes with.
