No pollen yet - howcum?

Well that's enough for me to change course. I was spraying at 1:6.5 solution to drench, every 5 days until I saw sacks. They usually appeared about 2.5-3 weeks later. I am going to try 1:3 with my next solution that I am doing in sevral weeks and see what the results are.

Were you only spraying once at 1:3 @Proph? Or was followup necessary and at how many days past the initial spraying was/is followup necessary?
I think "when" you start spraying is an important factor.. If it's taking 2-3 weeks to see sacs, it could be that the plant wasn't mature enough when you started spraying.. I start spraying when the pistils look like tiny cotton balls with about 10 or so pistils. I spray one time, every other day for a week.. Then watch for about a week to see if any changes are happening.. Once I see sacs forming, I stop spraying and let them form. Thats how I got to maybe 6 sprays in 2 weeks. But by the 2nd week I could already see sacs forming.. I sprayed 1 or 2 more times this time just in case, but didn't need to. I'll have more pollen than I could use from just one reversed bud site.

Nice to have some other growers feedback on the subject, best thread on afn! :D

biggest issue i had with sts it stained everything, hated the chemical smell and just never saw a benefit over CS. Reversed plants should Have NO hairs at all. Those hairs becoming pollinated creates a whole different issue. I usually have to reverse entire tables for seed productions. STS would bankrupt me at the cost, and its also pretty hard on the plants. The healthier the plants are the better they produce sacks. I run my CS generators on timers so its all automated. Takes 2 weeks from start and after the balls show up no more spraying.
I also use battery powered spray packs. I like the CS a little better cause it's a little cleaner IMO.
Everyone will have what works best for them , I make about 400,000 fems a year give or take and have done all kinds of methods. View attachment 1300307

Yah spraying after pollen sacks appear is a hot topic. Everyone has their preference on when to stop spraying. I agree with you, stop after they appear. Its already reversed, stop stunting it.

There should be NO white hairs on a reversed plant.
You can tell when its balls out. No more hairs emerging from the calyxs just straight sacks.

@Heisenbeans you are a supporter of CS.

Do you think STS has a higher likelihood of producing viable pollen?

If not, what do you think causes people the most issues when reversing with CS?

They don't make the CS strong enough. I think STS is harder to screw up because the formulas to make it are all over. CS takes alot of trial and alot of error to get it right. Correct Temps, enough air, correct voltage ETC. I make mine a gallon at a time. Its easier on the plants imo. Both methods work I just prefer CS for huge production runs.
I do not think one has an advantage over the other for producing pollen. I think that is 100 percent the genetics of the plant. Once a plant is reversed the ethylene is blocked and thats it. Its up to the plant to produce pollen. I have seen plenty of sacks with hardly any pollen on certain strains.
I've reversed wedding cake 10 different ways and the outcome always the same. It genetically won't give out much pollen. Some moms I've reversed will put out like a male no matter what you spray on em.

Here is my first pollen collection. They are still a wee bit green and need to dry out before I can tell if I have anything useful.

show off ;) <3 lol how many plants is that? 10-15?
Man I would die if I had to deal with all that pollen. A few weeks was painful enough.
