DAY 12
Temp: 79

My little sweetie seems to be growing great! I have not moved the light, and have not watered as the coco still seems moist. I just check on her a few times a day and let her do her thing

Light is 36" above her on 60%...PAR is fluctuating around 250.

A PAR meter measures the quantity of light your plant is getting....but not the quality. Since I am using a MarsHydro TSW2000, I am assuming the quality is rather good.

PAR/PPFD RANGES:
200-400 Seedlings, clones
400-600 Early to late Veg
600-900 Flowering

Yeah, PAR is a little low on her, but I am taking it slow and cautious as this is a new light and I boo-boo'd and burned my last lady. Live and learn! :frowny:

I have always topped, done LST by tying the plant down, and messed around with them. I think this grow I am just going to let her do her thing, and put up her stability net within the week. I will tuck a few leaves here and there and keep under the net clean and tidy of dead matter once in flower, but that will be it for this grow. No topping or bondage

I did read this by the MASTER George, and it has me rethinking my leaf removal method:

From the Growers Bible by Jorge Cervantes:
Leave leaves alone! Removal of healthy leave hacks up a healthy plant. Removing large or shade leaves DOES NOT make plants more productive. This practice DOES NOT supply more light to smaller leaves and growing tips. Plants need all their leaves to produce the maximum amount of chlorophyll and food. Removing leaves slows chlorophyll production, stresses the plant, and stunts its growth. Stress is a growth inhibitor. Once in FLOWER, remove only dead leaves or leaves that are more than 50 percent damaged." OK George, we will give that a shot this go around.

they took to their new homes mom also rather than tip the plant out of the cup I generally just cut the bottom out of the cup and do 2 splits up the sides of the cups

Hi! Booring info ahead

I have been using a lux meter app on my phone, then trying to calculate the results to PAR. First of all, holding my phone over my plant is a no no. (don't ask) Second, I suck at math, and then every website gives me a different answer. When I do hold it flat over my plant, I cant see the screen. If I tilt my phone to be able to see it, the numbers change. What a pain in my arse!!

I then watched this video about lumens/lux vs PAR, and went "oops" :nono:
Why do I need a PAR Meter? - YouTube
No WAY I can't afford a $250+ meter! Good lord!!

Then I was talking to a friend of mine no longer grows, and he mentioned he had a Quantum PAR Meter he would sell
to me for $30 bucks! Whoot! I have always wanted to measure by PAR not lux....I am so excited!!
:joy:
If you’re using an iPhone, Photone par meter app works very well, it has a hold feature that you can tap so you can pull the phone away and check your readings. I believe it’s free, but $10 to unlock the LED reader feature. Not sure how the standard non-LED function is.

Migro guy did a comparison to his apogee and it was very good. He stated that at 800 PPFD and above you should add 10% to your readings. Dunno if that helps?

Oh wow! Very nice. I would like a friend like that!

It's a cool dude I knew in high school. Guess he used to grow autos indoors, but now its all "outside photo grows".
He doesn't know anyone else that grows indoors, so he said I can have his gear for cheap. I almost danced like a kid on Christmas morning when he said~ "Yeah, its all just sitting in my storage unit collecting dust".
Storage unit???!!!!
Mom hit da jackpot, LOL.
XOXO

DAY 13
Temp: 79
Light: 36" (Par on canopy reading 250)

Well, she was topped yesterday. I think I may have cut a little deep. Uh oh.
:face:

BUT, on the good side, there is a lot of growth since then.

She got a 1Liter feed of 4g/G Mega crop, and 1g/G NPK Ind. RAW B-VIT.
Mixture pH'd to 5.9, and PPM diluted down to 400. (up from previous 300ppm feeds)

Already? I avoided topping mine for my current (first) grow, because I wasn't quite sure when to top...

And by that, I mean, the nodes were too small for me to count with the plants that young. Because I'm now so old, I need reading glasses...stay off my lawn!!

HI! Yeah, probably too soon, but she was on her 5th visible node, and very healthy. I was afraid to go too long, as with autos they are not in veg long. I have never done anything this drastic. Lets see what happens!
So hey, follow along and learn what NOT to do!

I never really get aggressive with my plants, and for some reason ALWAYS end up with 7 foot leafy beasts. Going to shake it up this time and see what comes of it.

Let the bondage begin.

XOXO

Nah, should be fine - I went back through my journal and this was about when I was thinking of topping mine too...

It just seems so long ago...they grow up so fast :sadcry::sadcry::sadcry:

Looks good @MassMom. On day 21 with mine and just clipped off the fifth nodes for the Raspberry Punch Auto and 4-Assed Monkey. Topping has been a routine of mine since starting. I like the more even canopy vs the large main cola. Personal preference. But you did good in my humble opinion!
