Yeah I agree with you about the whole megacrop thing. Honestly this round I stopped even checking pH, that stuff is magic I tell you. I'm interested in your megacrop approach and I'm ready to suck it up like a sponge. Feel free to overload us with details, as that's just how my brain functions all the time, a million miles an hour. And for whoever mentioned the dab carts... Scary stuff right there! Essentially all carts tested by the CDC contained levels of crap in there that are seriously harmful. I always thought that was a safer approach, but dam... People having their lungs shredded and total lung failure at 20 years old. Yikes...

I have no facts on the issue but if I had to guess the butane they are using to process the dabs is not purged correctly. Butane inhalation at high levels is deadly. That’s why rosin and bubble hash is a much safer alternative. Dabs are notorious for making me hack for 30 minutes or longer. Rosin and bubble hash are strong but not like that.

I had an issue this week with some cartridges that I made. I became sick with a lung issue after using a product that was sent along with a purchase. I can’t say 100% it was just there product but based upon my lifestyle and how I take care of myself I was more than confident that it did cause the issue. The company did take down a bunch of its products after my purchase but before my issue. After some discourse here and through email it was made right. I believe that vaping can be done safely(within reason) and I hope to showcase my extraction and process to do so in the next few weeks.

I agree that the improper extraction and purging or chemicals from the methods can be a huge issue but that was not the issue in my case. I had an issue with the “thickener” that the company sent. I did a very clean extraction and purge and used one of their liquidizer to make the cartridges and used them several times without an issue. I then had more product and wanted to try the thickener or Diluent to make the product less potent. It was then that I had a heavy chest cold within 12 hours. Felt like acute bronchitis. Wouldn’t get worse wouldn’t get better. Pins in the lungs type of thing. It’s slowly clearing up after a day out of work yesterday and lots of rest.

A lot of folks here have used the 2 different liquidizer products without any issues. But I may have been the only light weight that used the Diluent. The guess would be that it contains the Vitamin E that the FDC thinks might be the issue. The company was transparent in acknowledging that they were just putting forward the information that there supplier gave them.

There are a lot of pros and cons to the vaping thing. And I know control of it and it getting into the wrong hands is a major issue. Along with the ridiculous amount of crap product and delivery methods. I have been trying many methods along my journey to refine product and consume it safely. Pressing rosin was my next step to extract. And making a cartridge was just something I said I wanted to try at some point. I don’t like to smoke flower because it’s not discreet and the combustion is not good for you. I primarily use tincture but it’s not always possible. On nights when I’m out and get home just before bed it’s just not feasible to wait 2 hours to get comfortable. And on those rare occasions for me a quick vape is discreet and I can go right to sleep.

Thanks to all that are wandering along on this journey with me. Hopefully we are going to see some big plants along the way. I have high hopes for these Megabuds Beast mode autos

A lot of the procedures you're talking about flew over my head with cartridges and stuff. I stupidly roll up using tobacco and herb, I can't continue with that ever.

What ever happened to the original vape ? U know where u put the bud in the heater n filled the bag with weed air ! I keep hearing bad things about these cartridges n the pens I've had a few n would like to have something safe to vape with I like the pen for at work n in the car it feels safer than having a joint that stinks everything up.

Yeah grow bro, it was in the coils they used as well. Literally some executives, from one of the actual safe carts today, tested their nichrome coils they were getting from China and had the same issues you were describing. Apparently as the coil heats up it flakes off and would leave white powder in an unfilled cart. They are claiming that you would inhale that crap with the dabs. That company specifically pulled all of its carts for over 3 months until they found another supplier in the US. Apparently it's these black market carts that are coming in from China, that you can buy on eBay or a whole host of other places. They claim the coils to be one material when they are actually another. That's why I say be careful bud because it's not just what is found inside the concentrate, it's also the coils that you need to be wary of. I have been doing some serious research into this stuff and it has me a little sketched out if I do say so myself. You sound like you have a plan and that's better than most so I'm highly hopeful that you make a good choice with all this stuff. I hate hearing people getting hurt from shady business. It's unethical, but China cannot afford to think like that. Sadly that's the state of the world we live in

And I only dry vape, too. I've never tried the oils or dabs or anything. I've got a nice little DaVinci, all ceramic. Until this mess gets straight and absolutely safe I'd like to maintain the quality of life I have now for another forty years or so. lol

So it’s not perfect but I’ve used it and it pressed nice and square with really good pressure.
I bought the Dabpress 3x5 plate kit for $229 with free shipping.
The steel was in my scrap pile. Yeah I’m that guy. Waste not
And the 20 ton jack I had but I think it was only 20-40 bucks new.

In this case I decided to use a steel plate with the countersunk bolt for the jack to push on and the Oak board for more surface area and as a heat sink. Doesn’t get that hot though. Guide rails were to help keep it square while pressing.View attachment 1100365

I ran a test run through a bunch of kief I had at 190 first pass and then 215 on the second the other day. Kept the 190 and managed to get about 10g. The 215 I just threw away. It was like taffy even after being in the freezer for an hour.

There are a lot of great threads in the extraction section that I need to revisit but I think I’ll be running my kief down around 150. For the first press.

I also bought myself the pre press which is awesome and some bags. But I guess 2by4 bags don’t hold my pucks so I’ll have to get new bags. I got bags from the press club but the pucks from the dab press don’t fit inside. I need to stop ordering after medicating.




I’m 6’ 240 with big sausage fingers trying to type on an Iphone. I’m so sorry for all the fat finger typos. I’ll try to slow down.
